Very clean restaurant with an extensive menu. Good customer service and food was made promptly. Food was tasty but expensive for the amount served. There are things a restaurant should not be charging extra for. I ordered a plate of tacos with salsa on the side rather than in my tacos. They charged me extra for that! Shouldn't salsa be on the house? I didn't ask for extra salsa, just on the side. I was charged $1 per tablespoon of green salsa. Wow. Chicken was dry and overcooked. Meat was thick and very chewy. Their burritos are the size of a king size corn tortilla ($10!) Overpriced "extra" items. 1/2 a cup of rice for $3 and literally 1 egg for $2! We ordered the chilaquiles which to my surprise were made with store bought tortilla chips....not what i am used to but tasty. Review was made based on two separate visits. read more

Service was ok. Our food came out softly after we ordered it. Horchata tasted water down and the food looked promising! The taste was there but the breaddddd sucked!!! I couldn't even lift the torta off the plate to have my first bite when the bread was falling apart! Here is what we ordered: 2 Gordita tongue and trompo 2 tacos with the same meat 3 aqua frescas - watermelon, rice and hibiscus 1 Torta - tongue with fries 1 Tres Leches cakes They make 2 sauces green and orange. Green sauce is more milder than the other, but both bring out a kick. All the food was great and would recommend, but the tongue was a little bit dry for us and probably should get the trompo and other meats. Excellent hand-made Mexican food in a strip center convenient to the I-30 and the QT on Buckner Blvd in Mesquite. Everything here is handmade and homestyle, except for the 12-inch flour tortillas for the burritos and quesadillas. This family has been in the business since 1963, (beginning in Durango MX) so you know it's authentic. They make their own torta bread, Gordita shells and corn tortillas here every day - and that makes a difference between a great taco and an exceptional one. I had the 3 taco place with Barbacoa, Lengua, and Carnitas. Each nest was tender, delicious, and so flavorful. Carnitas were super porky and fall-apart moist and tender. Lengua is a .52 up-charge, and worth every penny. Large cubes of tender and savory beef tongue - mmmm. The Barbacoa was finely chopped yet luxurious and so tender. Generous portions of all 3 meats were nestled in homemade corn tortillas - heavenly! My daughter had the 3 Gordita plate with Barbacoa, Trompo, and Beef fajita. Gordita shells are made fresh here, and friend for order is they came out crispy and delicious. Trompo and Fajita were both well seasoned and tender. Mmmmmmmm 100% will definitely be back - and we definitely bringing Daddy for lunch on Friday. We can't wait to come back! EDIT: 27 May 21 - we're baaaack! Like we said above, we have to bring Daddy and today we did! He had the Torta Cubana which he really enjoyed, and I had the 3 Gordita plate with chicharron, barbacoa, and puerco al pastor. I got there taco plate which is three tacos with rice and beans for 7.99 which is very reasonable. The meats I chose were trompo and barbacoa both were really flavorful didn't even have to add salt which speaks for itself! This place is more authentic Mexican foods so definitely keep that in mind. read more

I've been here twice and I only had the Birria tacos. I had them the first time and they were so good that I had to come back and have them again. My future plans are to go back and have them yet again. They are amazing. Service was good. I asked if they had any extra hot salsa and turns out they do offer two salsa's but if you ask they have a third one that is the best if you like hot spicy salsa. But I wanted to try it again because it's so close and I wanted something quick without going to fast food chains. This place is in our neighborhood, so we decided to give it a try for lunch today (Sunday). Nice interiors, very clean and inviting. We ordered to go and the food came pretty quickly. I ordered the Gordita Caseras Plate, with two Carne Asada and one Chicken. It came with a side of rice, a slice of onion and tomato and shredded cabbage. Also came with a small container of both red and green salsa. It was good everything was fresh and tasty. Chicken was a little bit bland, but the salsas added a nice touch. We also ordered the Quesa Barilla w/ beef. I have never eaten anything like this before. The bread was somewhere between a thin slice of cornbread and and a flour tortilla. The texture of the bread was perfect for soaking up the consomme (sauce) that came with it and the shredded beef was delish. We also got a trompe taco and beef cheek (barbacoa) taco. They were both excellent. They were also very accommodating to switch the menu from Spanish to English based on who is ordering. So excited to have it in our neighborhood and brought home the menu so we can all ahead take out orders. There are so many things on the menu we want to try, so will be back soon. We are pretty regular Mex Mex eaters, and had not encountered many of the items here. Keep up the good work Don Pepe! read more
