I rarely leave negative reviews, but I was really disappointed with my experience. I paid $160 for a manicure and pedicure, and within one week my nails were already chipping and lifting. For the price, I expected them to last much longer. When I reached out, the salon only offered to fix the two nails that had chipped, even though several others were lifting due to what appeared to be poor application. Instead of standing behind their work, they only offered a partial solution and expected me to keep the rest as is. Good customer service means taking responsibility when the quality of the service doesn't meet reasonable expectations. Unfortunately, I didn't feel valued as a customer, and the way this was handled was just as disappointing as the manicure itself. I won't be returning or recommending this salon. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with the service I received. I showed them a picture of the last set Tina did for me (blue sweater), but my nails look nothing like what I asked for with the technician who did them last night. I explained they were for a very special occasion, which makes this even more upsetting. I had to ask multiple times for her to fix issues, and after so many attempts, I eventually gave up. Less than 12 hours later, they're already starting to lift and separate at the base. Several nails also had debris in the powder, and when I asked her to correct it, she said she couldn't. To make matters worse, I was overcharged at checkout, and when I questioned it, I was met with an argument. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the new ownership after this experience. I want to share my experience because the difference between the old Ivy Nails and the new Ivy Nails under new ownership is night and day. A few weeks before they sold the business, I had decided I was never coming back, after going to them for almost a decade. I was a loyal customer who always booked one of the most expensive pedicures, yet the last three pedicures I had, they rushed through them. The last one I got in July was only 20 minutes long after my nail tech's next client came in early. People getting regular pedicures at the same time next to me were still going when I was finished. When I complained, I was told I was wrong by Tina for a complaining. I just want to be clear this was the third time it happened in several months -- I told her that -- and she dismissed it and loudly said I was wrong. Honestly I said I would never go back to them. But when I saw Ivy had changed hands, I came back with cautious optimism today. I am so glad I did. I booked the Ivy Special for $80 with Nina and it was wonderful. She worked on me for a full hour with strong and skillful hands. The service included a soak, massage, mask, hot stones, and then more massage. It was absolute bliss. I will hands down go back to the new Ivy's and will recommend you give them a shot. The salon itself is clean and professional. The pedicure chair tubs still have protective bag coverings that are switched out between clients, and all tools come sterilized in sealed bags. The care and attention to detail are clear. If you had written Ivy Nails off in the past, give them another try. The new owners have completely turned it around. Ask for Nina, she is fantastic. read more

After explaining to Ben, the owner, what had happened last time, he asked me to come back so he could fix it. When I arrived, he was very apologetic and assured me that should I have a problem in the future, I should definitely let him know as soon as possible. Then, he fixed my pedicure himself. The painting was done by another member of the team, but everything else was done by him. Definitely one of the better pedicures I've had in this region. This time around, they really took their time, painted with care, and definitely gave me my money's worth. They have a wide selection of gel colors and dip. It's a pretty no-frills spot, but it is clean. Additionally, the employees are very nice. The service I received today would definitely make me want to come back. It was thorough and enjoyable. In fact, during my foot massage, I was in such a blissful state that I almost fell asleep. Glad I gave it another shot. read more

About a 2-2.5: I really wanted to like Ivy Nails, but, it really didn't meet my expectations. This place offers regular/spa/VIP/gel manicures and pedicures, waxing, and eyelash extension services. I usually go see my beloved regular nail tech down the road, but, unfortunately, it' was an off day for her, and I needed to get a pedicure ASAP before a trip. I had read some positive reviews on Ivy Nails, so I decided to give them a try. I had the Spa Pedicure, which came with a sea salt and mint mud mask, orange slices (rubbed on the toes/feet; it was interesting that they used 1/2 an orange to do this; maybe to let all that vitamin c to be absorbed through the skin?), and the use of a hot towel. Callus treatments are not included in this particular service, and when asked, I thought that the razor/grater was at least included; unfortunately, it was a callus remover treatment, which was an additional $5, and I still walked out with hard heels; the treatment didn't work, so it was a total waste. I did request Tina, as she seemed to be a popular request. She was kind - however, I felt that my session was interrupted every other minute or so (she may be a co-owner and had to confirm appointments, greet incoming customers, provide translations/explanations, etc.); I also noticed that there was a lack of attention to detail - there was some polish on the side of my toes that I had to point out so that they could be removed (and, in doing so, it wiped a part of the polish off the nail...). There was also incomplete polish on the nails, and the tips were missed. The cutting of the nails could have been filed/buffed more for a better shape. I do have to say that if you have an ingrown problem, Tina is pretty aggressive in getting them out and you will find relief instantaneously, but would need a couple of days to heal from it; definitely better than seeing a podiatrist! Sure, the prices here are competitive, but I can see why; I'd rather spend more for a better job. Tips can be added onto a card payment, but it's better to leave a cash tip. The place is clean, and all the staff is friendly. I have been going to Ben for over 9 years. Would never go anywhere else! He is opening a new beautiful shop next month and so he recently sold the North Kings Hwy shop. Instead of continuing to work and bring in business to the shop, the new owner kicked him and Tina out. Fool me once shame on you; fool me twice shame on me. So I suppose it is my fault. I have gone to Ivy nails once before for a pedicure and was totally dissatisfied with the service especially after paying for their highest level of pedicure. The customer service was totally subpar, but I figured as long as I had a good pedicure it would be OK... Unfortunately, the quality was truly atrocious. I vowed that I would never return. I broke my vow when my absolutely fabulous nail tech from Red Nails (in Woodbridge, VA) went on vaca so I decided to go to a place close by to get my nails taken off to give them a break. I went to Ivy Nails because it is close to where I live. I arrived as soon as it open, and there was only one other customer in the shop. I told them I needed to have my nails taken off, and one of the nail techs called a colleague from the back. When he came to speak to me, he said that they are incredibly busy with appointments all day and would not have any time to do this simple request. He unwittingly pointed towards the appointment book, and I went to look and there were almost no appointments noted. I left to go find another place, but it just did not sit well with me that this was clearly a lie. My sister called them to test if they actually were busy with appointments. She asked how long the wait would be to have a manicure, and she was told that she could come in right now because they are not busy today. I accidentally dialed the number myself when trying to give the number to my sister, and Ivy nails called me back three different times. When I finally answered, they asked if I meant to call and needed their services, and I was so frustrated by this that I told them that I was the potential customer that just came in to get her nails taken off but they refused to do so. When I initially had the horrible Patrick cure over a year ago, I did not take the time to write a negative review because I understand it is a small business and I did not want to cause them any potential harm. I also assumed it could have just been a bad day. However, after today's event hi could not bite my tongue. I will never make the mistake again of coming to Ivy nails. If you want a great recommendation with some pretty phenomenal women who do fabulous work, then I recommend that you go to red nails in Woodbridge, Virginia! read more

They did my feet and then didn't have a tech available to do my hands, despite me having an appointment. I was waiting for another tech to become available. I agreed to come back the next day(today) and they refused me service. **DIRTY: Yesterday I got a pedicure and watched them use the SAME TOOLS on 2 different people. Also, I sat and watched three people leave & new people come for pedicures and they did not clean the bowls between people. (Though they use plastic, they do not clean the pedicure jet which is in the water outside of the plastic, so that's used over and over for EVERY CUSTOMER.) When I brought it to the male worker's attention, he blew off what I was saying, caught a major attitude and started talking about me to the other workers. **CHIPPED NAILS: last time I came, I got gel on my feet and it started rubbing off two days later. **BAD POLISH: the picture you see here was a few hours after I left. I came in to see Ben after reading all of the positive reviews about his mastery of SNS. He did a fantastic job! I've had SNS, gel, acrylics, regular manicures at salons all across the region and I can say, without hesitation, that this is the best my nails have looked in a very Ing time. Ben's technique was different from my past techs. And he took his time and made sure every nail was perfect before moving on to the next one. It's been a day now, so the next big test for me is how long they last, but I'm hopeful! I also got a spa pedicure and it was fabulous. My feet and toes look great, but it was also one of the best foot massages I've ever had. They also use fresh oranges for one of the exfoliation steps and it smelled fabulous. The salon is clean and they have implemented several safety precautions to guard against the spread of COVID, including temperature checks, plexiglass screens at every station (including the pedicure stations), and thorough cleaning of the stations.
