Midway through, right after she clipped my nails, she insisted I pay for the service immediately. I noticed every other customer in the salon was permitted to pay at the end of their appointment. As a Black man, being singled out and forced to pay mid-service while everyone else paid at the finish felt incredibly disrespectful and unwelcoming.
