Service - Thy was so attentive and detail-oriented from start to finish. She took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and checked in throughout to make sure I was happy with the shape, color, and finish. My nails came out perfectly shaped, smooth, and glossy, and the polish application was flawless with clean edges. Update: Most importantly, folks should know this place isn't a licensed salon in Virginia and their license lapsed 11/30/24. FULL UPDATE: I came back to try their manicures and shouldn't have done so. Initially, I received great nail designs from Nancy but the last time, received a terrible gel manicure that chipped not even a day later, called and got a redo (2 more hours in the chair) and experienced the same issue. I have been getting a manicure every month for several years and this has never happened. I appreciated the refund that I received and so was willing to give them another chance. Because my nails were chipped, I figured I would get another manicure to redo this one, about a week later. I should have gone somewhere else, because it turns out I wasn't welcome here. I called in the morning and made an appointment and specified what I wanted, a pedicure and a dip manicure with gel art and was told to come in at 6 pm. I arrived at 6 and Coco told me they were running behind and to come back at 6:30. I came back and was not acknowledged - in fact, I heard Coco telling others I had no appointment, which was a lie! I got my pedicure and then went to get my manicure and Coco took one look at my photo and said "We can't do that." I asked why, as it wasn't a complex nail design and when I called they had no issue with it. She told me that they were afraid to do my nails because they chipped last time. Which was likely a result of the French portion of the nail and not the design I was looking for. I was very confused as I'd never heard of a salon refusing a service they literally agreed to. I was firm with Coco but not rude with her, but she was very rude with me. I paid and told her I wouldn't be coming back - left a Google review where she called me "difficult" and stood by her decision. Seems like if you have an issue with their service, even if you go back hoping to give them a second chance, they'll blame it on you. I'm evidently not the only person this has happened to - but it left a seriously bad taste in my mouth. read more

I wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone else. I initially chose this salon because it's close to my home. My first visit seemed fine. The technician applied builder gel over my existing acrylic nails, which at the time I didn't question because I assumed it was a normal service. However, shortly after that appointment my nails started breaking and splitting straight down the middle. I went back and they kindly fixed two of them at no charge. Unfortunately, the very next day four more nails broke off. At that point the technician suggested soaking off the acrylics and applying Gel-X instead. What was frustrating is that this option wasn't explained during my first visit. I had never heard of builder gel being applied over acrylics before, and later learned that it really works best with Gel-X or natural nails. I ended up having to pay again for the soak-off and a new Gel-X set, which I wish had been recommended from the beginning. The staff was generally friendly, but the overall experience didn't feel very welcoming when I came back with the issues. It felt a bit like the problem was being treated as if it were my fault, even though the original application didn't seem appropriate for my nails. When the Gel-X set was applied, the nails were placed on but not shaped or filed as much as I expected to properly fit my nail beds. The finishing details just weren't there. Overall, my experience was about a 2/10. I won't be returning, but I hope this feedback helps someone else understand the difference between builder gel and Gel-X before getting the service. read more

Three were peeling off after a day and it doesn't look right. I got it fixed and someone else did it and now it's peeling off. I'm not coming back. read more

I'm surprised this place doesn't have raving reviews! There is only street parking, but I entered without an appointment and was immediately serviced for Gel X application with design application. There aren't a lot of colors that I was looking for in the nude transparent shade, but was able to land on one of my liking. The spa also didn't carry sculpted gel X medium stiletto nails, which is what I requested so we instead had to go with the long, medium sculpted nails, which at the end I was charged extra for them to have to cut down. I had a wonderful experience with my nail tech who is a male I can't remember his name at the time, but his wife also works there and apparently she's great at doing nail designs, so I can't wait to come back! In total I was charged about $90 for the GelX application $65 designs $6 and cut down $10. Don't forget there's $1.50 charge for credit card use (yes I tipped) read more

Hi Coco, I just received my credit card statement - as I anticipated, I do not see a .01 credit. It's not the money I seek - It's about the principle of my entire unfortunate experience. In summary, my experience from this particular visit was: 1. Disapointing and disgusting as I was a long time patron supporting a woman owned business. I was treated poorly (more than once) as I witnessed other women who were treated more favorably based on "appearance". This visit was the straw that broke the camel's back. I continued to be a patron since I liked the employees who did my nails. As I alluded to in an earlier post, my observation and experience was later validated by a former Coco A'mour employee who I encountered in a completely different salon as I searched for a new salon. This former employee is a former employee for a reason and did state that you did have preferential treatment of customers - and customers who do not speak your dialect would and will never know what is said if they do not understand the language you speak within your salon. For the record, I too am fluently bilingual but speak English in front of my customers for full transparency as to avoid situations such as this one... because at this point it is a "she said - she said" situation. 2. Being overcharged inaccurately by .01 - it's not about the money its about the principle and making sure patrons are not being financially taken advantage of for services rendered. This stands out as a business ethical concern for me. Since it happened to me - how many other customers has this happened to and overlook not saying anything because it is time consuming? 3. Being told my card would be credited - not explaining how since all personal information is scratched out on the attached receipt images - to receiving my credit card statement well after the normal 7-14 business days to process any credit/refund. For anyone interested in being treated fairly with dignity and respect - I highly encourage doing your research for the best nail salon for you. I want to share my wonderful experience at Coco Amour Nail Spa. The staff is absolutely amazing, and I've grown to enjoy them like family. While all the staff members are great, I must brag about Nancy. She does quality work and can create almost any nail decoration or style you want. Nancy always introduces me to new, professional colors and styles. In the picture, she did a milky white with chrome on top. I always receive compliments on my nails and toes. I've gotten two pedicures here so far and both appointments were very positive. I like that they have a consistent team of nail techs so you'll become familiar with each of them the more you come. The only gripe I have is whether they actually pay attention to their online booking system. I made both of my appointments online and both times when I arrived they didn't check a calendar or even appointment book. They also didn't know which service I booked. They do nails really well, and everyone is friendly. It is clean and they're prompt. My only thing is that they rush pedicures, and don't take any time to actually make your feet look it's best. I will say maybe one or two people take the time to do good pedicures, but most of the employees rush the job. They don't let your feet soak, don't massage your feet, don't make sure under your toenails are clean. -Review for Nancy & Coco Amour Owners- Originally, I enjoyed coming to Coco Amore Nail Salon -- the space was clean, and the experience felt welcoming. Unfortunately, things changed over time, with Nancy as my nail tech. Most of the time, I would bring my own dip powder and even help guide Nancy with shaping my nails, as she's still very new to doing nails and often unsure how to achieve a proper square shape. I was patient, supportive, and always treated Nancy and the staff with the utmost respect. I was also a client who tipped generously at every visit. The last straw was when Nancy had the owner call clients -- including me -- to cancel appointments for anyone who wasn't seeing her regularly after a stint of me being out of the country. That felt dismissive and unprofessional, especially considering the time, loyalty I had consistently shown. The owner expressed Nancy prefers quantity appointments over clients who want more quality. Keeping in mind they schedule dip manicures for 55 min (soak off takes 15-20 min leaving 35 min just to dip and shape nails). It's disappointing to feel undervalued as a respectful, kind, and well-tipping client. I've decided not to return and hope the salon reflects on how it manages client relationships moving forward. There are much better Nail Techs and Nail Salons in the area. I wouldn't recommend spending your money or time here. read more

I moved to Del Ray May 2023, and let me tell you, finding a decent nail salon was a struggle! I tried a bunch around here, but then a friend put me onto Coco Amour Nail Spa and man, it's a game-changer! (Picture attached is of my nails a week + out - yes they still look SOOO good!) New management took over about a year back, and they've seriously turned this spot into one of the best in Old Town/Del Ray. I've been there a few times, and they consistently nail it (pun intended). Last time, I booked with Leydis, and she's amazing. Takes her time, and you walk out with nails on point. Go see her. Oh, and Coco, the owner, is a gem. Super friendly and very talented. I had a terrible experience at Divine Nail Salon down the street, so I used to drive back to Arlington for my nails. Not anymore, though - Coco Amour is my go-to now. Solid 10/10! read more

For the price incredibly disappointed. I told my nail technician I have bad ingrown nails multiple times and to really cut them out. I don't know what she did but both my big toes are swollen within 24 hours of me getting the pedicure. It's feels like she only cut half the ingrown and the other half is jabbing into my skin/toe muscles. And now the toe next to my big toe is experiencing the same jabbing pain as it grows out and I can tell the ingrown is still there when I slide my nail on the side. Also they didn't open a sanitized tool kit in front of me... which was odd. I paid for the deluxe pedicure and still honestly is the worst pedicure I have ever gotten. I have never had a nail technician cause me this much pain ever after a pedicure. I wish I could give zero stars. It hurts so bad when I walk. I complained and never heard back and it's been more then a week now. Horrible service. FYI to Owner: Great job blaming the customer. I have been getting pedicures since I was 16 years old and never experienced this kind of pain after one. My nails were rough underneath, they wanted $12 for shortening them (most people go to get their nails filled and shortened) and they are extremely expensive for design. I am new to the area and was trying to find a good go-to salon and decided to try Coco. I didn't realize that this was the new TM spa which had some not great reviews. The nail techs were perfectly nice and there is a good selection of colors but I really didn't like my manicure or pedicure. On my pedicure, the tech cut the sides of my nails with a cuticle cutter and one toe is still bright red and killing me! On my manicure, I got gel and the polish got on the sides of the cuticle and just looked so messy. I don't know why I've never tried this place, because I live 5 blocks away. But (like most of you, I'm sure) I'm picky about pedicures and cleanliness and just afraid to try new places. But I saw the good reviews, so I went there today. It was great. Super clean, nicely decorated, with maybe the best massage chair I have ever sat in. And my pedicure was really high quality, done with great care and skill. (Also loved the leg massage!) They have about 10 pedicure chairs, so you will probably be fine as a walk-in. The nail techs are thoughtful with recommending what looks good on you. What helped to make my experience great was the (in my Oprah voice) Amaaaazing Helen! The person who quoted me the price pretended to not know I needed an additional service, wasting my time. I could have gone to a different salon that could provide the full service. I had been to this establishment a few times and have gotten interesting vibes a few times. I would steer clear. They are misleading, terribly expensive, and the work is mediocre. I've been here 3 times now. My conclusion is that they're good enough. Their online appointment system doesn't work. It conflicts with walk-ins and no one is designated to monitor it. You can request a certain tech but you probably won't get him or her. Most of the techs seem very nice. However, the salon has a 'mean girls' vibe. Nancy was super sweet and welcoming - she got straight to work on my pedicure, offered me water, and we talked a little to discuss what I was looking to have done. Mind you I came in with ingrown toenails, excess cuticles, and calluses. She was patient and kind about the state my feet were in and made me feel comfortable. I'm just now sitting in the chair wrapping up a treatment with Mai and wow. Def top 5 pedicures I've ever had. She did talk me into the Deluxe but I honestly didn't need that much convincing. I was honestly shocked at the extent of the massage - and seemed like there were massages between several of the treatment steps. Definitely much more bang for buck than I expected had elsewhere and more than I expected. My toes look great, my legs are buttery smooth, and I practically dozed off in the chair.
