This place is just perfect. We were on our way to a hike and were trying to dodge the chain restaurants but didn't want to drive all the way into Asheville. It was such a pleasant surprise. It's on the way to your favorite hikes and it's got that local crunchy charm. I had the hash soul bowl and my boyfriend the three egg skillet and we both ate every last bite. They casually gave us free coffee refills and didn't charge us for a to-go cup when we were so pleased with the quality of the food that we decided to finish it with a delicious alfa jore cookie. After doing errands, we found ourselves in the south end of tien, checked out yelp for a place we haven't been to yet and ended up here!! And boy oh boy and I glad we did. This is a charming stone house that has been converted into a wonderful little breakfast/brunch/pastry place. The rooms are split up, and one has a working, and cozy fireplace to keep the chill off from the big windows in winter. The staff here, the 2 ladies we interacted with were super friendly, funny and accommodating. Whole here, they stayed consistently busy, so being a hidden gem, the word is getting out, which is great for them! We got the curry beet soup: heavy on the curry yet very tasty. The Gladiator, a 3 meatball sub. The meatballs themselves are homemade and heavily her bed. We also had the Franklin, a grilled Penton cheese with bacon, tomatoe and avacado. It was cheesy and yum. As the sides I has the garlic kale saute with chickpeas. I would choose something else next time, just wasn't for me. I also got the ceaser salad, fresh. We will be back! read more

Stopped in for lunch and it was great. I had the daily special, a taco salad wrap. Really good. It came with 2 sides, I chose the chilled cucumber soup and the spinach strawberry salad. Both were excellent, but I really, really loved the soup. I had my 4 year old with me. Their kids menu is good, grilled cheese, BLT or Tuna Salad. They all come with fruit or a side. They let me order fruit and yogurt from the kids breakfast menu for my kiddo, who was in full on whiny mode. Went in to Ivory Road Cafe this morning (10 am) for a couple of coffee drinks, but alas, no espresso machine! In a coffee shop! The owner said she'd had multiple requests for one and finally bought one to put in the stand-alone drive-thru that's only open from 7a-9a. She proceeded to tell me that "espresso machines are expensive to buy and install", which is true but that she didn't also have room for one in a building the size of a house. So, to clarify, functional espresso machine out in the shed that's open for 2 hours, not in the restaurant that's open all day. Gotta say, if I were going to double my beverage sales by finding 3 ft. of counter space, I think I could find the space and money from somewhere. Gotta spend it to make it! I'd much rather support local business that corporate, but you must be present to win. The food is tasty and the atmosphere is comfy and inviting, for sure, but you gotta have coffee drinks in a cafe. Guess we'll try back again another time. read more

I ordered the quiche of the day (red pepper and goat cheese; there was also a bacon cheddar available) that comes with breakfast potatoes and fruit. My husband ordered the Hemingway Bun, which is a cinnamon roll with bacon jam and two eggs. And topped with a bourbon glaze! Since the kitchen setup looks rather small, I wonder if the wait can be long on the weekends. We came on a Monday morning and waited less than 10 minutes for our food. First impression of my quiche plate was that the portions were small- but as I was halfway through the meal, I realized it was actually quite substantial. Very flavorful quiche, the goat cheese is wonderful! I wish that the coffee was self-service, but I can't complain since they brought out my cup fairly quickly and also checked for refills. I found this restaurant sort of by accident today. I was bowled over by the quality of the food in this quiet little stone house tucked away off of Brevard Road. I had a bowl of homemade butternut squash soup - not too sweet, just perfect. It came with a thick slice of warm homemade bread - I'm not sure what kind of bread it was... maybe oatmeal...It was delicious. I sat at a small table beside the fireplace and a big picture window. When I left I had to drag myself away from the fresh coconut chocolate bread pudding muffins. They serve breakfast all day and lunch during lunch hours. You come here for the atmosphere, unpretentious and peaceful. It's in a very quaint and cute home with narrow hallways and cute nooks with various tables and chairs and areas in which to dine. But the place just makes the food that much better! I had what I can only describe as amazingly gazpacho it had a nice acidity and complexity from balsamic vinegar maybe? Although, I could tell they'd used a sherry vinegar as well it was flawlessly executed. I mean honestly, even my own gazpacho isn't gonna hold it to what ivory road serves. I almost thought I was in Heaven after savoring a spoonful. I also ordered a very Adult Grilled cheese called " The Franklin" it is amazing! I've never had a better more delicious grilled cheese. Crusty sourdough perfectly toasted, nice avocado not too much, bacon, tomato, pimento cheese and it could not be improved. I'm only kind of sad that I would like to try something else next time I visit. My only trepidation is that perhaps whatever I try I may be disappointed slightly because of my first impression of my meal. They serve lunch starting at 11 am but have breakfast options available all day. It was 2 pm when I paid my visit, first time here, but won't be my last. Very smart way to have a memorable restaurant without going broke, and I'm a huge fan already. They're coming up on a one year celebration such a Milestone for new restaurants.
