Metro Wines is the best! I showed up and they were in the middle of a wine tasting. They immediately offered to let me taste with the other guests. The pourer was knowledgeable and I ended up taking home a bottle for later. After they helped me pick out a bottle of champagne for a friend's 40th birthday and the one they suggested hit the nail on the head. I gave a price range and listed off three champagnes that I liked. I got back and to my surprise my husband was so excited with the one I picked up. He had been to the winery and France and happened to love their champagne! It was my first time visiting and the staff was beyond helpful. I'm a little sad I don't live in Asheville so I can frequent their shop regularly but I will be back the next time I'm in town. It was so lovely and full of delicious, off the beaten path wine! read more

They were wonderful to work with to find the perfect wine for our wedding! I cannot recommend highly enough! We were not very wine savvy and they treated us with such kindness as they educated us on wine. They worked with our palette preference, aesthetic preferences for the labels, as well as with our modest budget. read more

UPDATE- I attended their January 2021 blind tasting league night, and it was FANTASTIC. A super fun night spent (covid safe) at home on your couch! Pro trip: eat something beforehand. Trust me on this one... two bottles of wine will be opened and enjoyed read more

Great selection at reasonable prices. We regularly travel to various wine regions tasting as much as possible to find great wines for our wine cellar, when we can't travel to a region this is a great alternative. read more

This place is amazing! We've called in asking for recommendations a couple times now and they have knocked it out of the park! And I really appreciate that they don't try to up-sell us when we give them the price we want. Very knowledgeable and respectful and they clearly love what they do! We participated in their most recent virtual wine tasting and had an absolute blast! Learned a lot, had fun, and drank good wine in the comfort of our own home. Will absolutely be doing the next one! This is definitely going to be our go-to spot for wine! read more

This is such a great wine store! We were visiting friends in Asheville a few weeks ago, about four days before hurricane Florence hut, and wanted to bring a present. The people working at Metro Wines helped us so much by picking out a good wine for us. I then asked what cheese would go well with it. They could tell we were from out of town so they even hand wrote directions to go to Whole Foods from their store and get the cheese there. I wish I had gotten their names! I HIGHLY Recommend Metro Wines. Buying from a wine store is a hundred times better experience than buying from an impersonal market or big box store. And an extra treat about buying from Metro Wines is that your money is staying in your neighborhood, and helping your neighbors keep a wonderful business going. read more

Fabulous local wine store with outstanding service. So glad we found it when visiting Asheville!

Zach, Andy, John and all of the staff at Metro Wines are amazing, very knowledgeable and friendly. I thoroughly enjoy going in to buy a bottle or two or a case from them. They have great prices and a fabulous selection. If it's not in stock they will get it for you or make some fabulous recommendations on an alternative. I highly recommend Metro if you know nothing about wine or you are a Sommelier. read more

I wanted to pick up a few bottles of wine for a nice dinner and decided to try out Metro Wines. I called to see if they were open, and was told they're currently doing orders over the phone. The man I talked to was incredibly helpful! He asked about what kinds of wine I like and for the price point I was looking to stay in. I bought three bottles and have loved all three of them! Would highly suggest! read more

I don't do 5 stars....well, virtually NEVER (think I've given one other 5 star) BUT...... I bought a box of wine (hey, there's some REALLY good wines that come in boxes..) opened it 2 hours after getting home - it was vinegar!! As I'm leaving town early tomorrow, and the 2 other bottles I bought I gave away as Xmas presents, I was in a dither....couldn't drive back (it's 30 degrees, and no car - motorcycle!), so I called in hopes of at least being credited....and ...... they DELIVERED A REPLACEMENT!!!!! John drove over, agreed that it wasn't any good, and cheerily took back the bad one. This is customer service to the MAX... now I've always been impressed with their staff (hi Anita!) and their wine knowledge. They've consistently recommended great wines (and econimical too!), even when I haven't known quite what I'm looking for. I am now COMMITTED to Metro for life!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! read more

Andy is my wine guy! Right after moving to Asheville, I discovered a delicious Malbec in a local pub and couldn't find it for sale in Asheville. Andy ordered a case for me and has kept the cases coming! He's also introduced me to other wines and his choices are usually spot on for what I like. Every time I discover something new, he gets it in for me. On my visits to the store, he has spent a lot of time with me, educating me about different wines, making suggestions and answering my questions. THANKS ANDY!! read more

We are in town on vacation and had unexpected car trouble. We searched all around for wine delivery and luckily found Metro Wines. I spoke to a kind woman on the phone that double checked to make sure someone was available to help me right away and took incredible care of us! We gave her the type of wine and a price range and we are so happy with the picks! The man that delivered was also so incredibly kind! What a warm welcome to town while we are stuck inside! Thank you so much, we are so appreciative! read more

We absolutely love Metro Wines !!! We've been doing business with them for a few years now. John, Zack, Andy, and the others always go out of their way to make sure we get wines that we love. This place was AMAZING! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. I got the perfect wine which I had never tried before but it was right up my alley. They really listened and wanted to give the best wine! THANK YOU!! Love y'all at metro wines :) read more

Metro Wines compared to the other popular wine stores in Asheville does deserve the highest rating. It's a joy to shop there and the owners/managers are extremely helpful and friendly. I find that I get the better wines by letting them help pick the selections. Keeping in mind my limited budget they do a great job. I also participate in the monthly wine club which is a bargain for the quality of wines you receive. Who doesn't like a case of wine waiting for you each month. I've also been to a couple of their special events and they're fun and good way to meet the neighbors. Hint: Get to know the people managing the place. They have charisma and good taste in wines without snobbery. read more

Because I am a wine enthusiast, whenever I travel I am on a mission to find a great wine shop. I discovered Metro Wines last year, and visited again this year on another visit to Asheville. This is a must-visit wine shop if you like wine. Both times we have visited, we have been offered, upon entering the store, an opportunity to taste what they have open. And, the staff are eager to walk you through the store and make recommendations on selections based on what you are looking for and/or what your preferences are. The store has a great selection and is easy to navigate. If you are a local, they offer regular tastings and educational workshops. read more

A bigger selection than you might imagine. The owners are very knowledgeable and can find just about any wine you want. I asked for a Sardinian wine I had at Rezaz, and John went right to the shelves and found it! Always something available for tasting. And always a good explanation of the wine. read more

The service was ah-mazing. I called to have a gift basket made and delivered to a sick friend in the hospital. John made the experience easy even though I was a thousand miles away. The basket was beautiful. The delivery was prompt and he even called me and confirmed when it made it to the hospital. Thank you. read more

This is my favorite wine store ever. We just moved from Atlanta to Asheville and enjoy walking to Metro Wines. John the owner is so helpful and very knowledgeable. Andy is also great and super friendly. Don't let the small size of the store fool you they have a large selection. This little wine store always has something going on from free wine tastings, book readings or hosting an important fund raiser. Highly recommend. read more

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great selection, great recommendation, and a parking lot. What more can I say? Fantastic place for all your wine needs, whatever your budget! read more

I must say this place is adorable. I went to a great rose tasting here and it was delightful! Great selection and fair prices. Will be back!

One of my favorites to stop into. They have regular (almost daily?) wine tastings "on the house" and the wines they taste are delicious, fun wines you'd never accidentally stumble upon on your own and completely affordable. Andy, one of the staff members there, is knowledgeable, kind and really great to listen to while you taste these new wines. Will be spending more time here!! read more

I just finished my Christmas shopping at Metro Wines. This is a true gem of a local owned business in Asheville. Has a great selection and the staff are just delight. I cannot express how thankful I am to Andy at Metro Wines for his amazing service in helping me ship this package of wine to my family.
