LOVED Sparky's! I was walking by and the hanging pennants immediately caught my eye. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The layout is super neat: food and drink options are right up front, a bar sits in the middle, and there's a fantastic gift shop filled with unique items in the back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I sat at the bar, and the staff was incredibly welcoming and wonderful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had fantastic live music from a local acoustic guitar player whose selection was absolutely perfect for relaxing with a drink.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They feature a full bar, an extensive beer selection, and a few frozen cocktails. They even had a special margarita menu during my visit! I highly recommend checking out their frozen drinks, the pickle martini (or the shot version), and the French 75. read more

Totally groovy place! I was in town for working for non-profit down the street, and only had 30 minutes for lunch. I was able to get a different mix of yummy stuff both times I went, and enjoyed my quick eats seated at the open window facing the street. read more

This is a unique concept; a market and bar!! They sell everything from candy and potato chips to beer and wine, magnets, mugs, etc. I purchased chips, water, a magnet, and iron-on patch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a very cute shop with great energy![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm not sure if this gentleman was the owner or not but he was drinking coffee or tea out of mug that said "Twatwaffle." Lol! I daresay this is the quintessential "what you'd expect" novelty store one would find in Asheville. It was my first time to the Paris of the South, as they call it, and we were only passing through, stopping for lunch. We decided to walk around a little bit and explore. We landed here and what can I say? Charmed. I thought I had seen it all, but a Bardega? That's a portmanteau that I can get behind. There's specialty snacks, like single batch popcorn with truffle dust (I may have made that up, but you get my drift), little sections with things you need to stock your AirBNB bar and kitchen (weirdly enough, typical groceries like instant Kraft mac and cheese), a fridge section with pies of the day. And then you land at the bar! It reminds me of a modern day drugstore, the kind of place that George Bailey worked as a child, only instead of soda jerks and ice cream sundaes, you get specialty cocktails and wine. Head to the back for all kinds of gifts, tea towels, candles, games, home decor etc. I loved it so much after a quick perusal on my own, I took my husband in for a look when he came out of the pawn shop next door. I really appreciate their business plan. I love the idea of being able to hit up one shop for conveniences, gifts and then taking a break from my day with a cocktail. read more

Great hidden gem in downtown Asheville. I was on my way to Asheville Chocolate and saw this shop right next door. Couldn't help but stop in. They have a little bit of everything- beer, wine, local gifts. Self care products etc. they also have a small bar area. I didn't stay for a drink but I did buy a sparkling white single can for later on. Nice friendly service and reasonable prices. Would definitely return! read more

Sparky's BARdega (nice touch!) is so cute and perfect for Asheville! Anything you could need from gifts to toys to snacks to souvenirs, they have. You can take your purchases to go or immediately enjoy them there. The decor is amazing. Custom shelves and unique displays make this store really stand out and take it a notch up from others. It even has a small bar where the drink menu is displayed on an old typewriter they purchased from the pawn shop next door. I mean how unique and creative is that! The owners also own Sparky's Toys & Gifts in West Asheville, so they've got the experience to make this a success. I'll definitely be stopping in here anytime I'm in the area and recommend others do as well. read more

Popped in on their first week opening. Great market selection of food and drinks! After a hike we had a nice lunch and tasty beers. Then brought a bunch of items back to our house for the week.
