Our lunch experience was so wonderful in December, we decided to return to the Ivory Rd Cafe again today. I ordered the same sandwich, The Franklin panini, basically a grilled cheese with bacon, avocado, and tomato. This trip I chose the vegetable beef soup. Love love love! Been here a few times now and consistently excellent and unique. We've had several breakfast items - hash bowl, French toast, avocado toast (my favorite), bacon and eggs. Their coffee is also great. I'm into specialty coffee and they had rose lattes and other delicious options available. Jill the owner is an absolute pleasure and her food is amazing! They only use the best ingredients and you can clearly tell once your food is served. On our trip to the Asheville area over spring break, this restaurant was deemed to be our favorite meal by the group. That is high praise! I read about this restaurant in a cookbook I have called NC Back Road Restaurants and Recipes. For once, the review underpromised and the actual place over-delivered! Now, how often does THAT happen?? First, the look of the place: quaint, enchanted, peaceful. Ivy climbs the walls and creeps up the trees as you walk up a winding walkway with a twisted wooden rail to the welcoming front door of the home turned restaurant. Find a seat, either inside or on the deck and wait for them to give you a menu. You may get breakfast all day. Which is exactly what we did. I don't know that I've ever had a better breakfast anywhere. I got the Toad in a hole , the hole being in a homemade jalapeno biscuit, the toad being a perfectly cooked over easy egg. All of that served with a tiny carafe of the most delicious gravy you've ever thought about. I'm still dreaming about that dish. My daughter had a breakfast burrito with Tempeh, egg and brussels sprouts, which she loved! My son tried grits for the first time with his breakfast skillet complete with eggs and sausage. We all enjoyed our food and we enjoyed the ambiance even more. This will absolutely be a regular stop for us! read more

I've been to Ivory Road for lunch and some of the wine tastings. My friends and I always had a wonderful experience.

Ivory Road is one of my favorite places. The owner, Jill, has guided the place through many concept changes - all good. Right now it's a wine bar where you can taste interesting wines and enjoy charcuterie, a yummy cheese plate or an assortment of dips (not your run of the mill). We've enjoyed many hours there chatting with friends that we met while trying new wines. Jill attracts the best people. So glad it's located close to me in Arden. We also joined the wine club which gives us 3 bottles of interesting wine to enjoy at home and also gives you discounts on any beverage or food you purchase. read more

I had the pleasure of stopping by this place during our trip in North Carolina. I made a last minute change to our breakfast plans before our hike for the day. I chose Ivory Road over a couple of other local spots and I'm happy I did! The Nutella and banana stuffed french toast was the best french toast I've had, no contest. The hash soul bowl was amazing as well and if you enjoy well made duck do not pass this dish up. The restaurant is essentially a house with table seating inside and outside seating available as well. It's a very cozy and quiet setting, perfect for a relaxing start to the morning. The service was great as everyone there was very friendly and welcoming. So I'm torn about this place. The price is right and there's ample outdoor seating. The skillets we got were tasty with eggs, bacon, and cheese grits. The bacon was great in it! Wish the skillets came with some veggies like onions or peppers to really push them over the top. Each came with a side of toast and butter + jam. The cinnamon roll we got was super disappointing. It was hard and tasted old, like it had been prepared the day before. It was pretty dry and dense. Walk in, order at the counter, and find a seat. The staff brings out each order! This is one of my favorite spots for afternoon tea in Asheville! The scones are house made and amazing! Some of the best cream I've had with a scone. They also have great little sandwiches and desserts. The service is great and everyone is very friendly. I know many people who use this place as their regular lunch pick up spot. I thought this was a brunch spot until I enjoyed dinner there last night for the first time. The menu was delicious and the wait staff was very attentive; I was told their quiche is great so I enjoyed the vegetarian quiche for dinner. Ivory Road Cafe is a cozy, unassuming spot off a back road in Arden, NC. They offer a variety of breakfast and lunch options with a rotating selection of specialty quiches, baked goods, and daily entrees. On my first visit I tried the Franklin Panini, which contains bacon, tomato, and avocado under a blanket of gooey melted pimiento cheese on grilled sourdough. The sandwich is thoughtfully assembled and all ingredients complemented one another, in between perfectly toasted and pressed bread. On another visit I went with their Toadstool Panini, consisting of thinly-sliced turkey, gouda, arugula, mushrooms, and pesto mayo. I'd be hard-pressed to choose which one I liked better as they were both outstanding. This place knows how to make a sandwich. The kettle chips they offer as a side are perfectly fine, but keep an eye out for their side-of-the-day: the smoked trout dip served with baby carrots and sliced cucumber was phenomenal. The freshly-fried donuts they have are also fantastic. Perfectly-fried yeasted donuts with a slightly crisp outer crust and soft interior, the different flavors offered (with coffee and butterscotch being the two I've tried so far) are restrained and not overpowering, nor too sweet. These are the perfect donuts for the discerning lover of quality baked goods, not just for someone looking to satisfy their sweet tooth. With excellent service and perfectly reasonable pricing (maybe even on the cheap end), I'd be happy sitting on their comfortable patio eating lunch here every Saturday. Maybe I will. read more

This place was good. Not great. But good. The sign to mark this place next to the road is very small. We drove right past it. Parking here is a nightmare. Seating is like finding a table in a maze. The service here was good. Not the best I've ever had but still good. The restaurant is clean and appears sanitary. I wasn't impressed with the food. The egg yolks on the deviled eggs were dry. They tasted good but were like small golf balls placed into an egg. The sourdough bread that was pressed for my sandwich was really good. Unfortunately, the chicken salad was bland. The chicken by itself was bland. I wouldn't order it again. The chowder was the best part of this experience but it wasn't good enough for a 4th star. I wish we could give half stars. This was a 3.5 restaurant. There are much better places to eat. I can't recommend this place. read more

After reading the reviews, I had to try this place. My son, DIL, and I went there for lunch. We got there right at noon. First, it is hard to see this place from the road. We both drove past it. The yard has lots of trees and bushes. It's a house and the sign is hard to see. There are tables outside on the porch and some next to the parking lot. We went inside. The decor is cute. Eclectic and cozy looking. We found a table and the server came over quickly. She gave us menus and took our drink order. When she returned, we gave her our orders. We got the green tomato and bacon deviled eggs for an appetizer. It came out in good time. Even though there were three of us, we got two app plates. The eggs were ok. I think the pickled onion really added a good pop of flavor. My DIL's eggs were softly scrambled and the potatoes were good. My son really liked his sandwich. The potato soup also disappeared quickly. My Reuben was open faced. The rye bread wasn't grilled. That would have made a big difference. The rest of the sandwich was good. The tomato soup was flavorful. Overall, I'm glad we went. I may go back. The atmosphere is casual but voices become loud in the small room. Maybe some soft surfaces would absorb the sound. read more

We ordered breakfast online and I went to pick it up with my son. Due to COVID19, this is now the way. I was lucky to find a parking spot because it was Saturday morning and they were busy. Not a lot of parking anyway, but that's ok. I called to let them know I was here, and they let me know that it would be about 10 minutes. No problem. Food was delivered to the car by a nice young lady and we were soon on our way. A hidden gem! This cozy little cafe is tucked away from the main road. It is a house converted into a cafe with plenty of parking. There are a few tables on the porch for outdoor seating. You order at the counter and someone will bring your food to you. My friend introduced me to this place and told me about their Sunday brunch, Mimosa and Macaron flight. My friend told the owner I was dairy-free, so the owner made macarons with dairy-free filling for me! I was ecstatic. The macarons were delicious! I also ordered their curry chicken salad, which was also amazing. Also, you can't beat the service. The staff was super friendly and accommodating to my dairy allergy. Simply delicious. The cafe is tucked away off a winding road amongst the hills and trees. Rustic and quaint. We ate breakfast there on our way to Biltmore. Toasted homemade bread with a delicately sweetened butter and apple butter on the side. By the way, no watered down Folgers or Maxwell house here. I love this place! My mom is a vegetarian and we go every time she is up from Florida. I took her and my daughter to their Christmas Tea last year and just went again with friends the other day. If you let them know ahead of time they can accommodate food allergies and preferences. They also have delicious baked goodies and a great everyday menu. They do their best to source local ingredients and everything is delicious. If you have never experienced a "tea flight" then you are seriously missing out on something great. If they don't have a Tea Event, you can still make a reservation for one and I highly recommend putting on a fancy hat and getting there. read more

We had the molasses cookie and the PUMPKIN BREAD was to die for even though we're not normally pumpkin folks. Rich, moist, a huge portion. Ivory Road Cafe is such an amazing hidden gem in Asheville! It is about 15-20 minutes from downtown Asheville, located in Arden. The cafe is inside a sweet cottage style home and feels really inviting and cozy. Upon arriving, you check out their menu and order at the counter before being seated. They have a fabulous breakfast/brunch menu, as well as lunch and dinner. On Saturdays they also make fresh donuts. I've been here three times now. The first was for a pie contest that they held this year for the second time. Guests could enjoy coffee and everyone got to taste the homemade pies. This was super fun! The second visit was for a private event. I'm not sure if they plan do host more private events but it was soooo awesome. The owner/chef, Jill, is incredibly friendly and accommodating. She always has a smile on her face and is very approachable and fun to chat with. It is obvious that this cafe is her passion and she works hard. During the private event, we enjoyed mimosas, and samplings from the dinner menu. We had an amazing time as the food was absolutely delicious and well thought-out. The tomato pie was, by far, my favorite thing that I tasted that night. I can't believe I've lived in the South for 11 years and had never tried it before. My most recent visit was for brunch on Saturday. As mentioned about, they make homemade donuts every Saturday and though I've been drooling over the instagram photos of them every week, this was the first time I actually went to eat them. When I arrived at noon, the donuts were all sold out except for one. Honestly I don't remember exactly what flavor it was but I do remember that it was an awesome donut! The texture and consistency was much different than other donuts I've had in town. It was thick and had layers. The frosting was super tasty, not too sweet. I can't wait to go back and try more flavors soon. As for my actual meal, I ordered the breakfast bowl with potatoes, veggies, fried egg and creamy sriracha sauce. It was SO tasty! I have seriously been daydreaming about it every day since. It was served in a little cast iron pan and had the perfect combination of textures. Jill and her team at Ivory Road are a dream for wedding catering. The tasting experience once you book (or are deciding whether to book) was fun and a good time to get to know Jill and talk about your day. There really are way too many delicious things they make to create your menu without FOMO of all the food you didn't order. Ivory road did our cocktail hour apps, dinner as well as wedding cake and assortment of single serve desserts. Kept it simple not having to have a dessert vendor separate from food. Everything was phenomenal and we loved having all the customizable options. Jill came to our venue months in advance to scope out the space and accommodations to make sure that the day would not have surprises. She worked with me on little things I could DIY or supplies to lend versus what she could help with to either decrease stress or cost depending on the situation. First of all service was excellent, particularly for a place where you order at the counter & wait for your food to be delivered. Food was clearly home made, fresh and made with care. The donut with cranberry cream cheese frosting was awesome. We shared a gouda & bacon quiche and a skillet breakfast. The skillet had a base of cheesy grits which was more like a corn cake. On top were bacon, eggs and we added avocado. It could have used a sauce or some sort to add some additional flavor but, it was good. We also had a side of bacon, iced I swear tea & Topo Chico - the bacon was soo good. The rest of our party of 9 were all very happy with their meals. They reported the brioche French toast was delicious, coffee delicious & parfaits good too. Next time we are in this area we will be aback for sure. read more

The owner was uber nice about food restrictions and trying to make the tea allergy/food intolerance friendly. However, that was honestly the best part of the visit. The food was average, the shortbread was good. The scone was more biscuit than scone but had a nice flavor. Also, it was extremely over priced for the amount of food we received. The ambiance was nice but I much prefer A Southern Cup Fine Teas in Hendersonville for tea Sort of a separate review, I did it at another location in the area that Ivory Road is responsible for catering and had an AHmazing chicken pot pie, so I am increasing their score 1 Star. I still prefer the other tea service but I think their traditional food is very yummy. read more

We went to the Autumn Nights Dinner Party with another couple and had a wonderful time. All the tables inside and out were separated and we felt very comfortable sitting on the patio. Our server was engaging and explained each course as it came out. The fixed menu was First, Second, Main and dessert and we opted to have the wine with each pairing. Check out the picture of the menu- your mouth will water just looking at it! We started with the goat cheese salad and then enjoyed the Rutabaga Sage soup. Both were delicious and we easily could have had seconds. Then the Main was presented. Beautiful plate with lamb, potatoes and mustard greens. As we started eating my hubby grimaced and looked startled. About that time my friend did the same thing. Then it was my turn . We all looked at each other and at the same time said, "GRIT"! There was sand throughout the greens, not just a little bit but lots and in all 4 of our plates. We let our server know immediately and he reported it to the kitchen. He soon came back with a simple "The kitchen profusely apologizes" and that was that. We ate around the greens. This is why I knocked off a star. I would definitely come back again and would love to try some of their main menu items but I'm honestly not sure I would get a salad or any kind of cooked greens.
