The menu itself is short and focused, while the interior of the restaurant features wallpaper with anthropomorphic animals, and large windows. I opted for the Burger, and my wife the Salmon. We also ordered the grilled dates and collard greens. I also decided on a Ginger Beer. They serve Goslings (since 1806), with all 47 grams of sugar, over ice and a lime. Highly recommended on the ginger beer flavor scale. The Burger came with a massive amount of their duck-fat fried fries, certainly more potato than burger. I also liked the burger with the added bacon. But my wife's Salmon was even tastier. It featured a nice hunk of fish, skin-on, crispy, and not some half-or-quarter fillet that other places might serve. Plus, it comes over a bed of green peas and canneli beans and green asparagus sauce on the bottom, and a small bed of frisée on top. The combination with the lemon cream leads to very satisfying bites. The grilled dates wrapped in bacon, with goat cheese, Marcona almonds, and honey were presented as a drumstick. The collard greens were nice, though on the saltier side. Seating here can be had inside or out. The bathrooms are located in the hallway next to the restaurant.

My recent…read morebrunch experience included ordering a Where the West Begins omelette, which includes "Braised short rib, butternut squash, red onion jam, spinach, smoked gouda". I wasn't sure how to feel about butternut squash with everything else (I'm not necessarily a huge squash fan - but I'm trying to learn to enjoy it), but the omelette was decent... it's the other side on my plate that looked less than appetizing. The biscuit was still covered in flour (and who wants to bite down on a clump of flour?), the cheddar hashbrown casserole lacked in flavor, and the brown sugar cinnamon oatmeal just... wasn't doin' it for me. Other recent experiences have been similar... there's usually one item on the plate that's flavorful or imventive (sometimes a main dish, sometimes a side), and the other parts of the plate are lacking. In reality, I think MIX is suffering a bit from rising food costs and inconsistency in their service and offerings. They've also changed the style of their menu from the original tapas-style to now being more typical entree options. Again... they've lost some of their innovative, experimental approach. In terms of ambiance, it really depends. I've been here for a work event and, because of the number of people, it was SO LOUD... they had also done a buffet offering for the event. As you can imagine, the food from the buffet was lacking, but that's often what happens when you're more mass producing your food (and it's left in a chafing dish, trying to be kept warm). On the other hand, I've been here for a dinner on a random night and was able to enjoy one of their Thai noodle bowls (and split some other apps with friends). The reality is that experiences at MIX are... well... a mix. Whether service, menu offerings, etc., I've found MIX's recent inconsistencies to be a disappointment. Will probably only visit in the future if it's suggested by others.

We opted to get the 4 jumbo shrimp on the side, which we thought retained a nice snap when we bit into it. It was also well seasoned, while still displaying its freshness. The fries complemented the steak, but was too well done for our liking. Our other entree, the lobster mac and cheese, had a nice cheese pull. We liked the added roasted tomatoes in the baked mac and cheese, which gave it a necessary acidity that countered the creamy, cheesy roux. For our appetizer, we chose the meat and cheese board, which was really solid. Appreciated the waitress explaining the selection, as well as the addition of a sour cherry jam and pickles on the side. This gave us a lot of mix and match options (64 to be exact), and we also liked how it came with charred/toasted bread. Finally, we wrapped up with a chocolate peanut butter parfait and key lime pie. Very polite, knowledgeable of the menu items, and let us know about any specials happening. My family ordered a salad and Vin Blanc Mussels to share. The mussels were really good! The sauce paired well with the seafood and was savory. Not only that, but you could dip the bread that came along with the mussels into the sauce and eat it, which was even better. The salad was just fine, nothing special about it. I ordered a Pork Milanese for myself. My parents ordered a Shrimp Scampi and Ahi Tuna Burger. They said that the scampi was decent, though they did wish there were a few more shrimp and that its sauce was a slightly stronger, since they thought it was a tad too light. They also said the tuna burger was kind of plain, but otherwise alright. My Pork Milanese dish was unfortunately overcooked. When it got served to me, at first glance, I genuinely thought it was burnt to a crisp. I decided to eat it anyways instead of asking about its quality, since it was already pretty late at night, near closing time. The pork's outer breading was kind of too hard. While the inside of the meat was better, in my opinion, it was still too firm, and didn't have much juice/oil inside it. I feel that the pricing for some of our dishes were too much, while other price charges were more reasonable. The water we were given also cost money to drink, which we hadn't realized until we were given the bill. Our experience with this restaurant was decent, but I think some aspects maybe could've been better.

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY! *tldr- Ithaca Beer treats their staff like garbage and fired 5 employees by email during the holidays* I've been a regular at Ithaca Beer for the last 6 years, me and my boyfriend go about twice a month. We kept going despite the food going downhill three years or so ago when they lost their chef. We kept going when the plates changed to cheap tin lunch trays and the portion sizes went down and the prices went up. Hard times, we get it. We kept going despite the beer being mediocre and despite the roaches scuttling across the bar and server stations. We weren't really there for all that anyway. We went for the vibe. The great staff and the best service in the face of it all. This was a staff who knew things were on a downslope but did their best to make the place welcoming and fun. Recently, this has been a hard task for them. After recent turnover the new management are open with their harassment of the staff. Whether its constantly showing their anger issues off in front of customers or just being a little too close and touchy to the females. I can see the discomfort on the faces of the female staff when the managers lean in close and grab their lower back/upper butt. All but the oily man in the corner who wouldn't move if his life depended on it. He's practically buried behind his soda cans glaring at the staff and customers all day. Except for one incident in which he got so overwhelmed he screamed at the entire restaurant like a toddler. Probably why they put him in the corner since. Time out? Really ruins what used to be a nice view and aesthetic. Anyways, we've come to know the staff well. THEY are the reason we go to Ithaca Beer and drink the crappy beer and eat the poorly made food and get glared at by the greasy human sitting in time out. THEY were the ones who walked away from the visibly disturbing encounters with management and went back to work with a smile. THEY were the ones who cared about making our experience a good one. No more. This week, five days before Christmas, Ithaca Beer fired 5 great staff members by email (attached) and have not responded to their requests for explanation. At least have the decency to chat face to face when you're letting someone go during the holidays, or any time really. It was apparent that ownership didn't care for their staff last year when they hung their manager out to dry as soon as things got difficult. But this is a whole new low. DO NOT SUPPORT ITHACA BEER. read more

Our visit to Ithaca Brewing Co on May 26th, 2024, was a disappointment and a missed opportunity for improvement. Here's where it all went wrong: After a lovely morning showcasing Ithaca's beauty to family, we opted for lunch at Ithaca Beer Co. Despite previous rough visits, we decided to support local business. Upon arrival, it was moderately busy. We were informed of an hour wait for an outdoor table but immediate seating indoors. We chose indoor seating. Despite being seated for over 15 minutes, our server only brought water and promised lemons and our beverage order soon. Another ten minutes passed before she returned with lemons, oblivious to our empty water. Our attempts to flag her down were in vain, as the staff mainly congregated at the counter. After a significant wait, our drinks finally arrived, and our food order was taken. By then, we'd been seated for over half an hour. Meanwhile, the couple seated after us had received their orders promptly. Our server later informed us of kitchen delays, promising our order in 15 minutes. An hour passed before our food arrived. To our dismay, my husband received the wrong order, and my brother-in-law's pizza was served to us, only to be taken away after two minutes because it belonged to another customer. Despite the apologies and promises, the service continued to disappoint. The mishaps extended to neighboring tables, with orders mixed up, including a beverage flight being delivered, retrieved and then delivered to another table, and food allergies ignored. Despite our patience, the server's indifference was evident. Even attempts to provide feedback were met with apathy or hostility from the staff, including management. This lack of professionalism and disregard for customer experience is not an isolated incident. As locals invested in our community's businesses, it's disheartening to see such neglect. Ultimately, every customer's experience matters, and it's clear Ithaca Beer Company has room for improvement in both training and leadership. As patrons who want to see local businesses thrive, we hope this feedback sparks positive change. read more

This company has no place in the Ithaca community any longer. For years the owners, Dan and Mari Mitchell, have burned countless bridges and have become increasingly more horrific and greedy, and they treat their employees as if they are beneath them. They will not hesitate to fire their staff without cause despite their many years of loyalty and hard work. The overall atmosphere and aesthetic has taken a turn for the worse. The prices have skyrocketed and portion sizes have shrunk, and it's just a very... Tacky vibe now. I have also witnessed multiple cockroaches scurrying across the floor during my visits here, you'd think they would swiftly take care of such a problem, but alas, that would cost money they do not have. Another notable mention goes to the perspiring squatter in the corner and his mountain of garbage. How strange! He appears to be a prominent and recurring character there. His campsite by the door is suspicious, taking up precious real estate as if his main purpose is to watch over the employees to make sure they don't dare enjoy themselves, so he can then report his observations back to the owners. That man is the embodiment of the dire state this company is in. Please choose to spend your hard earned money at other businesses that appreciate you and your business, who actually understand the meaning of hospitality. There is no longer reason to support these cruel and detached villains, who have proven time and time again to be a toxic presence in the Ithaca community, when there are so many other wonderful places and business owners with morals and good intentions who will welcome you into their establishments instead. read more

Save yourself a trip and go somewhere else to eat. Poorly run place. Food was disappointing. I was excited to try this place out while in Ithaca for the holidays. We should've gone somewhere else. The host was rude and my wife wanted to leave immediately after speaking to him but we stayed. It took a while for everything to arrive at the table. We think they forgot our drinks at first. The burger was undercooked (raw) and I ordered well done so I'm not sure why it took so long. Fries were cold and soggy and our pizza didn't come. They had to remake it. We asked for it to go and then waited. Then we asked for it to be taken off the bill and waited longer. The server apparently couldn't find anyone to take the food items off the bill. We paid and left without eating. Will not be going back. I'm not surprised after reading these other reviews. The ones about the man in the corner are accurate. We almost approached him but he gave us the creeps. The place had a bad vibe all around and to hear about poor ownership and management is not surprising in the least. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. Probably one of the most racist establishments in the country. They asked all of us (Indians) to leave. A group of MBA students (average age - 28) asked to not only leave for doing nothing wrong, but also have the cops called on them. The police then proceed to harass every single person. Our video evidence of staff at this establishment shows them shouting at each Indian to leave and get out. Guess it's an all white establishment! Fire pits, music, nice landscaping. The staff is top notch, professional but with great personalities. I wish they would offer chicken dishes but the rest of the food was great. Burgers at this restaurant are very dried, very overpriced, and hard to chew. And their service is very poor. They charge their customers way more than what customers paid. There's no formal wait service as you have to order food/drinks at the bar, and also head back to the bar to pick up your food when it's ready. Food is served in clunky plastic take out containers. It was a slow wait as it took 20-25 minutes for them to prepare the food. While waiting, I had a chance to explore the interior of the place, and was quite impressed with their collection of bobbleheads on display. Some were of presidents, while many were of pop culture like superheroes/villains and animated television characters (I liked their line up of Simpsons bobbleheads)...definitely gave off some quirky dive bar vibes. We ordered a local beer, mozzarella sticks, a cheeseburger, and a chicken sandwich. The mozzarella sticks were the frozen food service kind without much of a taste, and served with bland marinara sauce. The cheeseburger was quite small and also lacked any seasoning/flavor. The side of onion rings were also underwhelming and not worth the cost. The chicken sandwich was probably the best of the items we ordered, but was mediocre otherwise. All in all, the food was average at best, with nothing being particularly memorable, so worthy of an overall 3/5 Yelp rating from me. While I wasn't expecting a gourmet meal, it seems many of the reviews you find online are inflated due to the views of Cayuga Lake off in the distance. While it's a really nice location, they could do better in terms of food quality, so I likely would not return, and recommend others to drive an additional 8-12 minutes into Ithaca for better quality food.

I ponder the menu, it's a decent sized menu, with a good amount of items I decided to go for my old standby, the poutine. I put in my order, and he brings it back quick. It was a decent portion. The fries were well seasoned, crispy on the outside, yet tender on the inside. They were very good. The gravy. Was just the right texture. Not too thin, and not too thick. It was a good quality gravy. It had a deep rich flavor. The one problem, is that there was a very small amount of the cheese curds. They were basically not even the full cheese curds, just little chunks here and there. What cheese curd I got was good, there just was hardly any of it. Let's face it. Poutine without cheese curds is just "gravy fries." Even though there was hardly any of the cheese, curds, overall, it was still a good meal. I left stuffed. Poutine and a soda, the price was reasonable. I would like to try some of the other items on the menu. Thanks.

We ordered within 5-10 min of sitting down, but then waited 45 min - 1 hour for our food. We both ordered omelets, which were massive and tasty once they arrived. Turns out the waitress forgot to put our food order into the system. She apologized, but otherwise, nothing else was done. I was shocked since most places own up to their mistake and make it right to the customer by offering a free side dish, comping the meal or taking a percentage off the bill to recognize their mistake. This was not the case. There's MANY other breakfast spots in the area so I would skip this and look elsewhere.

The sausage gravy was cooked really well. It was not salty like some gravy I've had in the past. The biscuits were nice, fluffy and buttery. I am a sucker for hash brown patties so the hash brown patties really hit. They were so crispy! The service was speedy! I would definitely recommend.

There was a pipe overhead (air conditioning I assume) that was dripping on us/our table, but to be fair we didn't ask to be moved because it was only a minor annoyance. We had skipped lunch after a larger, late breakfast and had explored some local waterfalls, walked around Cornell and Ithaca Commons, and were starving and in need of a nice respite for an hour. We came in and were seated at a nice, quiet booth and reviewed the menu. My friend went with the mushroom burger and fries while I went with the Harissa Corn Salad and the Pretzel Chicken Tenders. Both were wonderful and large portions. The Harissa Corn Salad was like top 3 salads I've ever had in my life! HUGE portion and loaded with fresh items - loved the dressing and the sun-dried tomatoes with crunchy chickpeas. Noms! I could not stop eating it and I still had a ton left on my plate. Our server was OK - nice enough - but very inattentive and, after we got our food, essentially ignored us. When it came time to pay, it took over 25 minutes for him to bring our check and run the card. I was pissed. Great food, great menu, need to make sure to close properly.
