Totally unprofessional and almost-frightening experience. The driver left without collecting the cash from my order/ he just handed over the food and walked away immediately. Without thinking about it, I just went on about my day. About four hours later, around 11 pm (on a Monday!) and with no prior announcement, this person showed up at my home again banging down my door, threatening to call the police. He stated that even though he forgot to get the cash, that it was my job to remind him. This person used my personal cell number, which he shouldn't have even had access to, to text me, in addition to showing up at my home late at night to threaten me. The food was fine, but I will not be returning if this behavior is condoned by the establishment's management. I would be careful allowing this place to have access to your personal information, including your home address. I hope no one else ever has to experience such threatening and unprofessional behavior. This is all very unfortunate because I'm now afraid to order from them again for my own safety, even though I very much enjoy the food and have ordered many times. read more

Italian Kitchen is open for takeout and delivery during COVID and they are still doing a great job. The pizza remains great (we've been enjoying the white pizza lately in particular), the pasta remains great (cannelloni!), the paninis remain enormous and great (Roma!). We get takeout from them about twice a month and always enjoy it. A great local business. read more

My pregnant wife wanted a pizza, so over 2 hours ago I ordered one from Italian Kitchen. They said 40 minutes. That worked perfectly for us. However, still no pizza. Called in and they were less than caring and said "all deliveries are going out" and no more information. This experience aside, I have been to this place many times. The pizza is passable (5 or 6 out of 10) at Italian Kitchen and the main thing they having going for them is that it is fresh. I doubt I will be back, despite the fact that this is my go to place. If anyone else has any other recommendations for this area, please let me know. Edit: I waited another 20 minutes (after they said to wait 10 more minutes) and called back to speak with manager. No one was on shift. Instead, just got a refund. I doubt they called the driver to cancel after that, so my guess is they were just going to charge us and never send us a pizza. Delicious, affordable, and fast! My husband and I both ordered the chicken parmesan panini. It only took 14 minutes for them to cook it and deliver! The chicken breading is nice in color and crispy. Sometimes middle aged suburban life gets so mundane you need to do something reckless just to feel alive. In this case it was ordering takeout from a restaurant we'd never been to before. The Italian Kitchen crushed it. We got a few pasta dishes and a pizza for the kids. It was all super delicious. Even though the entrees came with bread we ordered the extra garlic bread and it did not disappoint. After the kiddos went to bed the misses and I each ate a cannoli and it was fabulous. And if you're looking to stall because you don't want to go home, here's a strategy: go to the restaurant first, get yourself a beer from the bar, then place your order. The name is translated as is the food. If you were looking for authentic Cucina Italiano, this isn't it. Unpretentious Italo-American fast casual, done quite well. It's a small space in the backwaters of the Sprung, eight seats at the bar and twenty at tables. Two side of the room are tall windows. Two unisex restrooms. Service style is order and pay at the bar, grab a perch, and your food is brought to the table. Bruschetta was the star of the appetizers, covered with so much cheese it was mistaken for a salad. Buffalo wings were on point with crispy skin, juicy meat, and a solid kick but not punishing. Spinach and Feta Triangles were a nice take on spanakopita, crispy phyllo and chewy inside. Cheese sticks were ordinary, but with a fresh bright marinara. Cannelloni was about the closest entree to real Italian, savory filling and lots of gooey real cheese. The heart of the menu is pizza and calzones, with myriad choices (including lots of vegetarian options) for toppings/fillings. All the ones we tried were tasty, on fresh (but not artisanal) dough. Spaghetti Alfredo was pretty routine. Nobody had room to order desert. I would have gone about 3.5 stars for the food, rounding up for the friendly service, honest prices, and the beverages, Peroni [Italian beer] on draft and Jones soda in the fountain machine, real cane sugar and real flavorings. read more

They loved it and it looked delicious. It will be entering my mouth in the near future. Steak & Cheese panini is delicious. Dare I say it's comparable to some of the best cheesesteak joints I've had back home in Philly? Nah, I won't go that far with that sort've blasphemy but it surely is a top 3 best cheese steak concoction I've had in the Silver Spring area. The bruschetta is a must try and thus far the best thing I've had on the menu. Everything appears home made and meticulously prepped from the bread to each ingredient. I've never felt one way or another about bruschetta and never voluntarily order it as an appetizer, but Italian Kitchen's bruschetta stands out so well that if you're going to order one thing here, it's this. Calzones and salads are phenomenal, as well as, large. You'll certainly get a 2nd, if not a 3rd, meal out of an order. The cheesy bread and cheese fries I found to be mediocre. Cheesy bread is a cheese pizza without tomato sauce, cut into strips. Very greasy. The cheese fries weren't bad but compared to the other items, didn't stand out in a unique and delicious way as the other items did. Dogfish 60 minute is $5, so that's not bad compared to other prices in the area. Four televisions with a different game on each was nice. Interesting how some of the commenters commenting about how "bad" the food is don't take pictures of their food. But I have been here with my girlfriend and with a friend about 5 times. The service has been friendly every time I have gone. The owner has come out and said hello and everyone is friendly and helpful. We have ordered a variety of pizzas, salads and the last time I ordered the wings. For the price of what you pay for dinner for two $30-40 or so including tip, salad, drinks, pizza and a good meal you can't really go wrong. I honestly think this is one of the best places for Pizza and Italian food in the area. You can smell and taste the fresh ingredients. We even tried their spaghetti for about $10, the pasta was awesome and they came with huge meatballs. Everytime I placed a delivery order with these folks it's been an issue! Either it's a problem with my order or the quality of the food. The last and final time was no different! Placed my order, then called back to add to my order. Paid by credit card and the driver tried to collect money from me despite the fact that the receipt clearly showed my order as being paid by credit card. I called Italian Kitchen to clear up their error. The first caller explained to the driver that he collected the payment. The driver refused the explanation and asked for Tony. I then had to explain to Tony that I paid. Rather than apologize for their disrespectful behavior, Tony tried to excuse his and the drivers disregard towards me! They offered no amends and only apologized when I explained why I deserved an apology. To make matters worse the pizza is horrible! Like Salads then wait 5 minutes to oder your entree. It's seems a pain but it's worth it! 4. Best freaking Cane Soda ever! They have Tap Beers and Wine. No need for tips , it's self service basically. Just leave it and they clean it up when your finished. 5. Prices and amounts are perfect. Wouldn't it be nice to have a gem in the neighborhood that served real food, had an authentic concept, provided good service? Sucks. Yet another downtown silver spring fail. I tried the "Italian kitchen" for lunch a few weeks ago, ordered the lasagna thinking no "Italian kitchen" could go wrong there. Boy was I wrong. The pasta was so mushy it turned into mash on the touch, sauce salty and generic as can be, and then a one inch layer of Aldis quality cheese so gummy I could make a tennis ball out of it. Tried again for dinner to give it another chance and the pizza was worse than pizza hut. Every ingredient obviously frozen and pasta and salads were bland out of a bag. Not going to dwell on the staff because I don't want to sound rude, but both experiences were very dissapointing. They really need a leader in there and someone who actually cares. Especially being a nice new place, whoever invested money needs to be there. This place has potential. Its in a very visible spot and open till 11pm. Beer and wine. Nicely designed and clean. But... They need to serve real food. Real Italian food, if your gonna be the Italian kitchen. Hire someone that will smile or not fall asleep on the bar. This is a solid Italian spot. Can't really call it a restaurant but it does have a small bar with beer and wine which is always a plus in my book. I've eaten here a couple of times I've even got it delivered using the eat 24 service. The food is pretty gd I don't believe that anything on the menu is terrible. I do know that the pollo parm, lasagna and speggeti with handmade meatballs are good. Definitely give it a try strongly doubt they will disappoint. read more

Best pizza I've had since moving from New York. While I've found good brick oven style pizza, any of the decent NY style pizza places that I have have found in MD have all closed. Thought I'd give Italian Kitchen a try and I think I now have a new go to pizza place. While it's not New York pizza it's the closest I've found. I agree with others that the design of the place is really nice and it is clean but I'll have to say that the food went down super fast. The first month they opened the food was so much better and the pasta portions were so much bigger. The last time I went I ordered a cheese calzone and I was given cold marinara sauce and the waitress told me that it was standard to be cold. I've ordered from the Italian Kitchen several times. The first 2x's were excellent, with the best paninis (primo-- with artichoke hearts, goat cheese, spinach and caramelized onions) I've ever had. Then, an order for a Roma panini, with $1.50 extra for goat cheese came without the goat cheese--what a dissapointment, it was dry and lacking in flavor. Then an order for a pizza, just ok, but soggy. Another order for a primo panini--not as good as the other times, and an order of a spinach salad, that had some dark wilty rotted looking spinach leaves mixed in with the good spinach--like they just weren't careful about washing and sorting it. They seem to be going downhill with every order. What a shame, the first few primo paninis were outstanding. Now I don't trust them. read more

I ordered delivery for the first time from here and all in all, it was fine, not impressive but not disgusting I think one thing that really affected my experience is the fact that my order was late for about 30-35 minutes. I ordered it right before they opened (at 11AM) and my order was automatically scheduled for 11:55 so it gives them enough time to deliver, which was totally fine with me. However, I didn't get my order until 12:30. Since it took so long to deliver, the italian fries I ordered (with cheese and bacon) has become really dry due to the cheese being already cooled down. Definitely wasn't worth 6 dollars. On top of that, I also ordered the chicken parmesan and thankfully it was still warm. The pasta in general was fine. It was well seasoned but they put way too much parmesan cheese in the dish for my taste. read more
