Best pizza I've had since moving from New York. While I've found good brick oven style pizza, any of the decent NY style pizza places that I have have found in MD have all closed. Thought I'd give Italian Kitchen a try and I think I now have a new go to pizza place. While it's not New York pizza it's the closest I've found. I've ordered from the Italian Kitchen several times. The first 2x's were excellent, with the best paninis (primo-- with artichoke hearts, goat cheese, spinach and caramelized onions) I've ever had. Then, an order for a Roma panini, with $1.50 extra for goat cheese came without the goat cheese--what a dissapointment, it was dry and lacking in flavor. Then an order for a pizza, just ok, but soggy. Another order for a primo panini--not as good as the other times, and an order of a spinach salad, that had some dark wilty rotted looking spinach leaves mixed in with the good spinach--like they just weren't careful about washing and sorting it. They seem to be going downhill with every order. What a shame, the first few primo paninis were outstanding. Now I don't trust them. read more

Less than 24 hours ago, my husband and I agreed to order some food from Frankie's Italian Kitchen & Bar in Silver Spring Maryland. My husband got a meatball sandwich and some chicken parmesan while I selected the beef cannelloni and we were going to share a foccacia bread appetizer. The pros/good points of the order: Our food arrived in a reasonable timeframe from doordash and the beef cannelloni tasted ok though the bread in the foccacia bread appetizer tasted differently than I hoped, though there was enough spinach/spring lettuce parmesan tomatoes to save in the form of a salad for another day. The beef cannelloni was ok enough to save for another day just far from something I would order a second time around even though I normally enjoy certain forms of pasta. I am grateful to have paid for the meal though the jury is out on if I would convince my husband to order from Frankie's Italian Kitchen & Bar (it was my idea for us to try this place and my husband had kindly agreed to the idea). read more

Been here a few times now. I really like their calzones - the dough on the calzone tastes great and has a nice chewy texture. Their pizza is ok but I prefer the pizza from Pacci's which is down the block from this place. The dough on the pizza here is a bit too thick for my liking. Why they get a low rating is bc their service sucks - either dine in or pick up. Service is super slow and their servers don't really seem to care. Even when you order delivery, you have to wait awhile for the food. Got there once to pick up the food but one guy behind the counter was on the phone and the other was messing with the checks, and I had to wait 10 minutes for them to get me my food. And when you call in the place food, be prepared to call multiple times as they seem to like to place you on hold and just forget about you. read more

We're so glad we stopped by here! After walking by multiple times, we decided to give Italian Kitchen a try. I had assumed based on the lighting that this was more fast casual, but it's a full service restaurant with beers on tap and table service. And YUM! Great food! We had tried a "fancier" Italian place in the neighborhood just days before and I was actually more impressed by IK's food. I ordered the Quatro Formaggio and my partner had the pasta with meatballs. My dish had that glorious browning on the top the way I love, and lots of ricotta, a plus! And the meatballs my partner had were wonderfully seasoned, really bringing out the flavor of the meat. We both cleaned our plates and left very full and very happy. Cheers to Oscar for nailing those dishes and for chatting with us after we raved about his food. I saw that it was a fairly new place and the few reviews it had so far were glowing so I dragged my roommate there for Sunday dinner and we were quite disappointed. First we stood in line for 10 minutes before they took our order (only 3 people ahead of us) and paid and once we sat down 15 minutes later they came back to our table to ask us what we had ordered. Did our order not go through? The soda machine (Jones soda) didn't have an option for water. Although one of the workers was gracious enough not to charge us for soda cups and you can get water if you asked, they were so busy running around that asking for refills would have gotten annoying. A water option at a soda machine, I feel, should be required on all soda machines but I don't know. Remember how I said they asked us about what we ordered? I figured they could remember a simple calzone order of Pepperoni, Ground Beef, and Red Onion but I guess I was thinking too highly of the situation. I got Italian Sausage and White Onion. The dough was a bit under cooked too. My roommate's food came out 10-15 minutes after my food came out and they asked him twice what he had ordered. His fries came out cold (the melted cheese on top had already hardened) and he didn't get the bacon he ordered. He requested to get the bacon on his fries so they took it back and the fries didn't come back out for another 10 minutes by which time we asked for it bagged since we had already finished eating. An aesthetic issue I noticed was the box on the table that contained the napkins and shakers for cheese, red chili flakes, and oregano. They were so big! Our table and the table next to us had to put it on an empty table between us because once the food arrived, there was no room to place it! I like the idea but it just doesn't work for a 2 person table. A group table? Sure. We were so upset by the situation that the ride to get froyo afterwards was filled with silence and just anguish over how terrible dinner went. They only apologized at the end of the entire meal and it felt half hearted. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars was that the baked chicken wings were actually quite delicious. read more

I ordered the chicken alfredo with breadstick off of Uber Eats. The food was terrible. I could not even finish the dish. The chicken alfredo was bland and pasty. The breadstick was nearly burnt. Everything was absolutely disgusting. I would never recommend this dish or restaurant to anyone. The only reason why I gave this restaurant two stars because the portion size Is large for the price. The wings are fresh meaty and juicy!! Nice grill on them. Delicious! Pizza is fresh. I ordered the wings to go and once I got there I saw the pizza slices are only 2.50. Had to try!! It was delicious. The bread is fresh and the crust was perfectly seasoned and crispy without being too thick or thin. I will defiantly be going back to try it again. I was a loyal customer ordering almost twice a week for lunch and dinner. Though I enjoyed the food I no longer order from them. I ordered food so often that I am well aware of their hours. The reason behind my low rating and why I no longer give them my business is because I called to order dinner and they turned my business down by telling me they were closed. I found it extremely odd so I had my roommate call in an order and to my surprise they gladly took her order. I was shocked and did not know how to feel about it. This place is uncomfortable. I came in At 10 on a Tuesday to get a glass of wine. It was pretty dead, understandably. The servers barely interacted with me. I was close to walking out without paying. They rang me up (after I specifically asked) $10 and some change. No option for tip? I don't need to sign my slip? They talked shit about a customer (or some other person) in front of me. Now that I've presented my pizza resume to you guys let's go on to the review of this phenomenal pizza. We stopped here on a Saturday night right before closing and ordered a XL cheese with spinach. The cheese was oozing with flavor and the spinach was very fresh. The tomato sauce was light, which I like, didn't overpower the pizza like some pizza joints. My girlfriend and her family are usually really picky about pizza, but they loved it so much they said they will be back the next day! Not bad! This is absolutely not authentic Italian and you can get much better in the neighborhood, but for Americanized Italian -- a heap of mozzarella and red sauce on whatever -- it hits the spot. Pizza and calzone doughs were surprisingly chewy and tasty and the sauce and cheese were too. This is pizza closer to Manny and Olgas than Pete's, but it's miles better than Manny's. There were a few beers and wines worth drinking. The space was bright and clean. We'll be back and since they deliver, it'll probably be our new go-to for delivery! Decent Italian food, bright clean and modern decor, 3 large tvs, reasonable prices.. It's way better than Mannie and Olgas, so I really hope this place can make a go of this location. Service was friendly and competent if slightly rough around the edges, the place has a few signs it's not been open long. They were serving Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA out of a Budweiser tap? beer was fine... but really, not even a sign on the tap?... Won't sell much of it that way... Also we suspected draft lagers were under-carbonated, nothing drastic, but seems like minor teething problems. Pizzas and calzones were tasty and seem strong options, we left satisfied, I'd go again.. Can't say it's immediate favorite but it's certainly worth a try. read more

I ordered through the eat 24 app at about 730, they said it would take an hour, which was fine for me. At around 9, 915 I contacted eat 24 support, who then called the restaurant and apologized for the wait and said the order was on it's way. So I waited, thinking they just messed up and didn't put my order in. I waited up 1030, contacted Eat24 support again, they took a minute to get back to me. And told me that the manager 'didn't know what he was talking about' and didn't know anything about my order even though they officially had responded twice about the order. I was told the manager would 'call me'. However, it's been 35 / 40 minutes since I was told that and still no call. Also, I was told they would not make my order since 'they were closing'. But they recently stopped serving it (although it is still listed on their website...), apparently due to lack of demand. I was so disappointed! It was so delicious! My husband is also disappointed, since he loved their regular pizza & calzones, but we don't go to restaurants where there isn't anything I can eat. So, FYI to all dairy-free Yelpers.
