For the first time, I ordered delivery from Italian Kitchen tonight and just ate a delicious meal! I ordered a Caesar's salad, eggplant Parmesan and a plain cheese pizza. I have to say that I love their red sauce!!! It is so flavorful - perfectly balanced tomato and herbs yet low on acidity. The lettuce in the salad was super crisp and plenty of green - nothing is more annoying when I get a salad with mostly white cellulose. This was far from the case. I only ate a slice of the pizza but it is also yummy. The crust wasn't super thin but not too thick and I appreciated the lack of burned edges. With a sauce that delicious, I think cardboard would taste good with that sauce on it. Eggplant Parmesan is one of my favorite things and they did a wonderful job; crispy and not greasy and just the right amount of cheese. Their portions are quite generous, I'm excited I'll have all of this to enjoy all weekend long. read more

Wow! This place really deserves more than 5 stars. I never even knew it existed until we went with 6 other friends on Friday evening. Tucked into a strip mall in Fairfield, it's a wonderful Italian deli serving anything you can think of. The surprise, however (to most of us) is that it really IS an Italian kitchen. We were seated at a kitchen table, and then the fun began! The owner and chef, Dominic, welcomed us to his kitchen. We felt we were invited into his home for a family style meal we would not soon forget. Warm bread and olive oil were served before a delicious (I will use this word frequently) salad of mixed greens, walnuts and cranberries. Next Dominic gave us all chefs aprons and invited us to make fresh mozzarella cheese with him. Really! We stood around another table and he explained how we would proceed. I won't tell you the whole thing, but when we were done, a huge tub of cheese curds and boiling water became lovely balls of fresh mozzarella. We were entertained by Dominic's stories about his family and his journey to becoming a chef. Seated again at our table, we were served our cheese with prosciutto di Parma and olives. More warm bread. Meanwhile, the aroma and sounds of cooking in the kitchen right next to us blended with the lovely background music. Much laughter, warm conversation and wine (bring your own, no corking fee) had us all in a great mood. Next came the pasta. Penne with vodka sauce. Delicious! A little rest and then the entree. Chicken Francese with with broccoli rabe. You'd think we'd be stuffed by now, but no. Again, DELICIOUS! It was now after 10:00. You don't notice the time passing when you're with people you like at a friend's house. This is exactly how we felt. Relaxed, happy, content. We certainly couldn't finish all this food. No worries. It was packed up to take home, along with our homemade mozzarella. Not not before dessert and coffee. Homemade zeppole served warm two ways. One batch with cannoli cream and the other with a peach balsamic glaze. We left just before 11:00, four hours after arriving. We were the only party of diners that evening, and Dominic and his staff really made us feel as if we were visiting his home. What a wonderful way to spend an evening with friends! They don't advertise. People tell people who tell others about this gem. Now I'm telling you. When you call for reservations, you'll choose your menu. There are lots of choices. It's $27 per person, mozzarella class (optional) brings it to $35. Well worth every penny. Go. Mangia! You won't be disappointed. read more

Stopped by here a few weeks ago. Ordered a calzone and waited there to pick it up. The staff was friendly and they were decently busy for the time of day (around 3 - 4 pm). I paid and went home excited to try my order. When I opened the box, I was a little shocked at the size, it was so tiny compared to others in town. It was pretty doughy and didn't have much of my add ons. The sauce (my main judge of Italian food overall quality) was o.k., nothing outstanding. Set back off post road it is easy to miss Italian kitchen. I always thought it was just a little Italian deli but once I wandered in I became hooked. They have fresh delicious hot food that I can't get enough of. The guys that work there are so friendly. I never liked eggplant till I had theirs. But if you order for pickup, your order isn't going to be made until AFTER you come to pick it up, and today I had to wait almost two hours for my food to be delivered, only to find that they had gotten the order wrong. Stopped by here on a long road trip and was very pleasantly surprised by the fantastic service by Dom and someone else whose name I'm forgetting. Not the most eye catching spot around but nice authentic grocery feel and great food. I had some delicious, well done penne vodka and my mom got some custom Chicken rollatini with prosciutto and vodka sauce. Good fresh bread and olive oil to complement the meal. Finished it all off with some wonderful cannoli-stuffed zeppole and cannolis. Dom was very personable and made us feel right and home and directed UA to some good food. I read about them in CT Post, and tried it, and I am impressed. The owner, Domenick is friendly, talkative, and helpful. Pinwheels, these little pastries of pizza dough either stuffed or topped with meats and cheeses are delicious. The dough gets crispy in the oven from the oil from the meat and cheese. The chicken parm grinder, on a delicious seeded roll, with a nice pounded cutlet. Can't wait to go back for the Godfather, a cold italian combo sandwich. Im a huge pizza critic and I'm harsh when it comes to reviewing pizza but I know a true Italian mans pizza when I taste it. Sauce is good, I would like some more grated cheese on the pizza but that's just my preference. Also, there variety of pizza and deli goods and imports are amazing!
