At first site, the place can look sketchy depending on who you are but as we all know. The hole in the wall places are usually very good. This place is easily one of those experiences. I have super picky kids and they loved it here. We ordered two cheese pizza slices, fettuccini Alfredo, and one pepperoni and jalapeño slice, garden salad and drink meal. My four year old loved the fettuccini Alfredo with garlic knots. My picky autistic son who only eats certain pizzas loved the cheese pizza and crust. And my other son loved the salad! The salad?! I was shocked. He never eats or tries salad. I guess it was the vibe of the place. Lol Next time we are in town, we will definitely stop by. While visiting friends in Dallas, they mentioned ordering from "Italia Express"... after looking at this location's menu, we picked out what we wanted and decided to place a door dash order. As our friends went to order, they realized that they usually order from an "Italia Express" in Cedar Hills... which is actually called "Mo's Italia Express." BUT since we decided to order subs, (which the Mo's Italia Express didn't have) we went through with ordering here. Delivery was estimated about an hour and it came in the expected time. Unfortunately, the quality/quantity was lacking. My husband and I both ordered a chicken parm sub and we got a 3 meat sub for our 3 little kids to split. I think the subs are listed as a "foot long." Each of our chicken parm subs only had 2 chicken tenders on them... literally one tender on each 1/2 of the sub. It was then topped with some mozz cheese and a small 2oz container of marinara on the side. (See photo) It was very disappointing. The kid's sub was equally as disappointing. It contained one slice-thick layer of ham, one slice-thick layer of Turkey and one slice-thick layer of salami. It was the thinnest sub I have ever seen. I also ordered it without onions and it came with onions. (See photo). What's a shame is that the food actually tasted good... it just wasn't enough for what we paid for it. I selected the Continental Ave Italia Express because it's where my boss always goes and it's supposed to be good. I ordered several pizzas for our staff lunch, including two X-large traditional pizza's with ONE topping each. Cost: $13.99 for each pizza, plus $3 for each topping, total $6 for the toppings on two pizzas. Doing the math, which was clearly seen on my receipt, the cost for both pizzas with ONE topping each was to be $16.99 ($13.99+$3.00 each). The total for those two pizzas was $33.98 before tax. A short time after I received confirmation of my online order, I received another email stating that the restaurant charged an addition $3 to my order. Three dollars isn't much but I called to find out why I was charged additonal money when I didn't order anything else. I was told that they never charged me for one of the toppings, which was absolutely not true. It was clear as day on the receipt: Traditional Pizza * X-Large (+ $13.99) * Toppings (+ $3.00) "PEPPERONI TOPPING" $16.99 $27.98 (13.99x2) $6.00 (3.00x2) $33.98 I kept getting moved around from person to person until one person finally said as he was calculating it up on his cash register it showed that they didn't charge me the three dollars. Which makes absolutely no sense when the receipt clearly showed that it did. Long story short, if they are going to try and cheat people even with an amount as small as $3, can you imagine what they do all day long to unsuspecting folks that trust who their doing business with enough not to check their receipts? Needless to say, I will not be ordering from them again. Customer service is key and if you're going to cheat your customers even in the smallest way, then you don't deserve the business. read more

The pizza, stromboi, and calzone are good, but for my money the roast beef sandwich at $5.50 is tough to top (pictured). Generous amounts of beef, piled high on Italian bread properly saturated with grease and sautéed onion residue combine to form a masterpiece. I am certain this sandwich is a cardiologist's dream, sure to keep local physician's clientele streaming in, but if so inclined it is also possible to do the right thing. Several salads are available including Garden, Ceasar, Chicken, Italian and Greek. They all look good from a distance but I have no firsthand knowledge on how they taste. I usually gravitate toward the artery blockers on the menu. Quite reasonable, the menu boasts huge sandwiches and subs for less than ten bucks. 18" pizzas can be had for $11.95. "Designer" pies in the extra large variety will require you to part with $18.75. Some of the toppings you can find here but not at Pizza Hut include anchovies, gorgonzola & feta cheese, egg plant and artichoke hearts. The appetizers-as-a-meal garlic rolls (six for $2) are awesome. Italia Express also has a reasonable catering menu if you need to make amends with your colleagues at work, reward your staff, or accrue brownie points. Three extra large designer pizzas can be had for fifty bucks (feeds ten). Pasta for ten can be had forty dollars. Subs for ten folks are available for even less scratch. While visiting you can glance out the window and witness firsthand construction of Dallas' "Margaret Hunt Hill Signature Bridge". At the current rate, construction should be complete in your lifetime provided you are less than forty and in good health. Only in Dallas can taxpayers be talked into paying millions for a bridge... but not something like Cowboys Stadium which has the potential to eventually generate revenue. I digress. The monstrosity is only a stones throw from the tiny strip mall in which Italia resides. This site may be one of the few places in the world where you can marvel at how little $120 million buys while at the same time marveling at just how much food can still be had for six bucks. In my opinion the city would have been better served buying all of its citizens a roast beef sandwich and using the hundred million plus in change to patch potholes. I used to tag the project "the bridge to nowhere", but at least now I can find one legitimate reason to cross it. read more

This is my new favorite pizza place in Dallas. The food is consistently delicious and fresh tasting. My favorite is the Gina Marlin which is loaded with chicken, delicately flavored white sauce and fresh basil. The crust is perfect not too thick or too thin. Just had the margarita pizza which was very good as well. The chef asked us if he could add pesto sauce to it and can I just say it was fantastic! The staff is very friendly too. The special steak sub was amazing, the cheese with the mushroom combo and then the seasoned meat. The tiny sauce in the cup was different and added a different flavor to the sub. I will most likely up my rating after another couple of visits. First of all, for me it's real convenient. The location is about a mile from where I live, so I don't have to drive far. They say that they deliver, but I normally just pick up dinner when I'm on my way home from work. The staff has always been very friendly whenever I go. They offer a lot of good daily specials which I used to try, but once I tried the eggplant parmesan sub, I was hooked! The bread is what really makes it for me. It's a huge, soft roll that is baked to perfection. I don't know where they get them from, but I need to ask next time I go. The eggplant itself tastes good. Nicely cooked with a little sauce and some cheese on the bottom. They give you an extra container of marinara that comes in handy. The whole box comes with the sub, the sauce, and a bag of chips. The sandwich by itself is so huge that you won't need anything else. The best part of all of this is the price...the whole meal comes in at around 7 bucks. You can't beat it.
