The install overshoots in a few locations which I did not like. Also I had extra pieces of stone since you buy slabs and the left all the trash in my garage. They don't install the sink, just cut the hole. FYI If they promise removal get it in witting. Or save yourself the headaches and just have your own installer do the work. Lastly I got charged per hole for the facet and soap dispenser, they did not even need to cut any holes just a large opening for the drop in sink.

"Go fuck yourself!" is the last of several outbursts yelled at me by handyman Michael Andrews…read more He was hired to replace 2 rotted deck boards and repair dry rot on my threshold. At the preliminary meeting, I asked him how much he charged but he would only say, "I will be fair, and I will work with you," waving away my question. I mentioned I did not want to be charged for chatter, as he loves to talk. The oak threshold was warped and had to be exchanged. The 2 porch floor boards were also warped. It took him 3 hours to remove and replace 2 boards, which he did competently. Then he tried to install the new threshold, which was too thick for the space, as the door would not close. We noted the original threshold was not rotted; only the narrow horizontal strip abutting the threshold had rot. I asked several times that he use the old threshold, but he refused, instead trying several time consuming maneuvers, including removing carpet tacking, cutting the edges of the oak threshold, and trying to shim an already too thick threshold. Finally he was about to plane the oak when I protested again. He got increasingly more angry with me for asking he use the original threshold. Finally he waved me away, saying, "Get out of here, I am the professional." When I did not retreat as "commanded," he said, "I don't like you!" Soon after, he made a strange and uninvited attempt to hug me, only to regain his rage when I again requested using the original threshold. He slammed down his tools and left, returning with an additional board to shim the new threshold, which also failed. He finally agreed to reinstall the original threshold and replace only the dry rotted strip, which should have taken 30 minutes (see photos). His bill was $350 plus materials. He finally advised me he charged $85 per hour. We settled on $250, which I thought was excessive, but I was glad the ordeal was over. Later that day, I went out to prime the replaced strip, only to find the vertical door frame abutting the threshold was dry rotted as well. Photos show rotted area, which I cleaned out. He either did not notice or did not bother to advise me. He came over the next morning to see the damage, and began by yelling that he did not appreciate my accusing him of not addressing the additional dry rot. Naturally, I have hired someone else to complete the job. I am a 74 year old woman, and if I did not have better things to do, I would consider reporting him to the CSLB for elder abuse. Anyone who hires him needs to insist on an upfront estimate of charges, guard against his chatter adding to the time charged, and make sure that his work has been completed satisfactorily.

I wish I got more updates during construction but they sent them whenever I asked. I liked that they were very contentious about talking with my neighbor when their van was blocking a little bit of their driveway--a lot of contractors wouldn't bother. I also had another neighbor who was causing some issues and they kept me in the loop, which I appreciated. - Price: I talked to several contractors and their price was pretty reasonable--not the lowest nor the highest, more in the middle. Cons: - After construction, I noticed some damage on parts that were supposed to be protected. They were minor damages, but annoying. The most noticeable one was a dent on my TV, which left a white dot that I see every time I turn on my TV, which sucks. - In terms of details, I noticed that there were some dings in pretty noticeable parts of the wood. I don't know if it was the crew or the wood came like that, but when I was testing a wood sample before purchasing, I hit the wood with a hammer and it didn't leave a mark, so it would take a lot of force to leave a dent like the one pictured. Kinda disappointing because the dent is smack in the middle of a high traffic area. Some last notes: - David came by to do a final walk through and helped me move some of the heavier furniture back. It didn't bother me but if you're expecting furniture to be put back the way it was originally, you'll want to manage your expectations. - You should definitely hire painters and cleaners after the construction--I didn't think the walls were going to be as scuffed up as they were. And everything will be superrrr dusty, even if it's covered. - When I expressed concern about not all baseboards being replaced, which I thought was the scope of work, he explained that he told his crew to use existing baseboards when possible. He said he did this to save me some cost and offered me $150 to cover the savings. I generally feel positive about this, although if I hadn't mentioned it I don't think it would've come up, so take that for what it's worth.

I used A2Z Remodeling for renovating my kitchen in 2025, and highly recommend them…read more I chose to contact them because of their great reviews on Yelp. In the initial meeting with Project Manager Yves, he walked me through the process and answered my many questions. This was all very helpful as I have never done a kitchen reno before, and Yves demonstrated his knowledge and "can do" attitude. Yves also mentioned that the crew working on my kitchen would be dedicated to my project until it was done, a big plus in my opinion. After this meeting I felt reasonably confident that A2Z Remodeling was a good choice. Prior to contacting A2Z I had gotten quotes from a few cabinet makers, thinking that A2Z would only provide general contractor services. But A2Z also has a cabinet design service, so they provided a quote. The design created by A2Z's designer, Marissa, was great so I had no concerns there. However, the quote was less pricey than all the other quotes and I then spent lots of time researching cabinet construction, trying (with limited success) to compare the quality of the materials used in the different bids. A2Z's cabinet supplier is Kraftview out of San Leandro, and ultimately, I went to their showroom in San Leandro to inspect the cabinets in person which and that alleviated all my concerns, they looked great and were very high quality (plywood construction, soft close, full extension drawers, etc.). I am very happy I chose A2Z to supply the cabinetry, for two big reasons: 1) Their supplier, Kraftview, is local, so fast turnaround. Some of the other quotes were for cabinets manufactured overseas and it would take months to get them. And if there were any problems, months to get replacements. And indeed, there was a couple problems with cabinets that needed correction and A2Z was able to get things fixed with only a small delay to the project. 2) A2Z was fully responsible for the cabinets: They took the measurements, did the design, ordered them, and installed them. If there were any problems or unexpected issues they took care of it. Whereas if another company was supplying the cabinets I expect I would have had been a lot more involved in resolving issues. One example is that when the demolition of the old kitchen was done, there was an unexpected pipe sticking out of the wall which we had not accounted for in the cabinet design, A2Z took care of it. Another example is that one of the cabinet fronts had some slight damage on it and A2Z had it replaced, I didn't even know about that until Yves mentioned it after the fact. The cabinet design process went really well. Marissa was fantastic to work with. Her design was great out of the gate and she was very open to iteration, mainly me changing little nitpicky things, then sometimes realizing it was a bad idea and changing it back. I visited their showroom in Oakland many times and it was really nice to be able to talk things over in person with her, and she gave me a ton of great suggestions. The crew working on the job were top notch. As promised, it was the same crew for the entire time and they took care of everything: Demolition, Plumbing, Electrical, Inspections, Floor Installation, Cabinet Installation, Appliance Installation, Painting, Lighting. They were careful to keep things clean and not damage floor, doors or anything. They abided by the HOA rules, and I received no complaints from my neighbors. Along the way there were small hiccups and bumps, but nothing major and A2Z would take care of it. One example was that some of the cabinets arrived missing the grooves needed to install the LED lights, there were a few options on how to proceed and I thought we could make one of the lesser options works, but Yves convinced me that we shouldn't take shortcuts and we took them back to the factory to get properly fixed. Yves and the crew were very focused on making the whole process as smooth as possible and making sure I was happy with the results. Highly recommended!

We just completed our project with A2Z and we are really happy with the results and with how the…read moreproject went. We added a second story deck and knocked down the wall between our kitchen and dining room. There was excellent communication throughout the process and the crew worked hard and were very respectful. There were several complications, not because of A2Z but because of the age of our house, (there was untreated dry rot that was discovered and they found water under our house which impacted support beams). Our contractor Dror and the crew handled all the bumps in the road with good communication and fair adjustments to the price and timeline of the project. They also made sure that all of our expectations were met and were able to make changes or adjustments if we requested them. We would work with them again and would recommend them to friends and neighbors!

These guys are fantastic. Seriously. Israel is professional, reasonably priced, and responsive. They do great work. I had to have tile in my bathroom replaced after having some plumbing issues. Of course, we didn't have enough matching tile and they don't make the tile any longer. Israel did an awesome job cutting and matching other tiles and placing them in such a way that it looks like part of the design. He was prompt and responsive regarding arrival times and completing the project. I was so happy with his work, I had him clean the grout in our kitchen - super happy with that too. I had enough and thankfully found Marsio to put in brand new tiles and he added a DITRA layer to also prevent future cracking from foundation shifts or walking on the tile. He finished the job quickly and left our bathroom clean. He is awesome to communicate with if there are questions as well. He also was able to repair 3 marble tiles in our foyer that had developed a hairline cracks due to the foundation cement cracking underneath, which was partially due to the original contractor not putting enough glue under the marble tiles. He was able to save the day! It took skill to work with the fragile tiles. I would highly recommend Marsio for you tile needs!

Another contractor couldn't start until two weeks later. Alex made a site visit and was very personable. With the lead time, we chose Alex. Right when we chose him, he wanted to start that day! I said OK. That afternoon the demolition began. In two weeks he completed the job. He will work around your schedule. We had a family incident and needed to push back the work a day. We also had to wait a few days for the faucet to be delivered. The hours are up to you. We were OK with his team working into the late evening to get the job done because we were down a bathroom. Vitali and Alex work really really hard and long hours. There were some up sale items, but we picked which ones we wanted. Our vanity was in bad shape; so we updated the vanity, sink, backsplash and faucet. Alex quoted us a great price and offered to do tile flooring which would have made the bathroom even nicer, but we decided that the flooring would be fine. Maybe save that for the next remodel. Going through any type of remodel or home update is emotional and risky. We did a home remodel years back and that's when we learned you can really only choose two of the three: quality, cost, or speed. With Alex we were able to get close to all three. Obviously your home is very dear, and there are small little things that you can sweat over. Your home will never be perfect. Not a year goes by without some work that needs to be done to my home. Things get old and break down. There are many things that I would do over, but everyday I go into my newly updated bathroom and smile.

I sent dimensions and a site image and was able to get a quote without a site visit. Our installer was very detail oriented and discovered our wall was not completely flush, which meant that the tile at the top of the wall would be a slightly different width than the one at the bottom. We discussed different strategies for approaching this problem. The zellige we received was also highly variable in quality and color. I asked our installer to pick out the tile in the best condition since we had ordered 10-20% extras and were very happy with the results.

My partner and I even made mock ups of the design we wanted to achieve. Noe was responsive over text when taking down our requirements, giving quotes, and estimating how much material we should purchase which we purchased on our own (though we might have over purchased our material by 20%, I'd much rather have extra than not enough!). Noe handled the tile and grout pick up when it was ready for installation day, and took care of the misc material purchases (finishing metal edge trim, tileset/cement, etc). Adrian and Luis are fantastic installers. Adrian's communication was really top notch (he kept us informed and updated often) and ran through options and recommended solutions when we encountered a bit of a snag with our subfloor and evened it out for us (we wanted to elongate and cut the corners of our rectangular entry way tile). Luis' tile work also really great. His cuts were clean, tiles were even/level, spacing of the grout lines were pretty even as well. I've had tile work done through a general contractor before (they had some rough cuts and some pretty bad tile lippage leading to uneven surfaces) - their quality is nothing compared to Luis' work, our entry way and fireplace with the herringbone pattern looks so good and it matched our mock ups very closely - they really brought our vision to reality! The three of them Noe, Adrian, and Luis really do live up to their company name as Tile Experts and they are very competitive with their pricing. You can check out the before and after photos (just ignore the ugly carpet in the pictures, we have not replaced it yet!) We are really happy and impressed with the work they did for us and would go back to them for any future tile work.

John was, by far, the best we've experienced. We had stains in our limestone and porcelain that we were completely convinced were permanent. We had already given up on them. John came in, took a look, and somehow brought everything back to life. It honestly felt like walking into a different home once he was done. What I appreciated just as much as the results was how he worked. He was careful, respectful of our space, and clearly knows his craft inside and out. No rushing, no cutting corners, just really thoughtful work. He also took the time to explain how to care for everything going forward in a way that actually made sense and felt doable, not overwhelming or overly technical. We don't hand out glowing reviews lightly, but this one is well deserved. We'll absolutely be having John back.

UPDATE: I have resolved the issue with the owner of the…read morecompany. They will actually reschedule the job and we will have accommodations for me and my asthma. I will have a section of the house closed off for any odors that might trigger asthma. I am not so concerned now because my asthma is usually triggered by dust and not odor and they have told me that it would be a minimum amount of dust. I will continue to work with this company and I will hire a Cleaning Crew to do a thorough cleaning of the bathroom counters etc after they have done the work ... therefore, I am changing my review based on this communication to a five star for the additional Customer Service I received. After the job is done, I will update once more with the quality of work, which I am sure will be above average. Thank you and I'm very happy to have updated this review because I dislike giving bad reviews to anyone. PREVIOUS: No one called me to discuss any issues!!! All of the communication was done by email. They cancelled my appt because I asked too many questions about the job, the dust, and the after-job clean up. I don't get why they cancelled. I just needed to know what was expected so I could make the proper arrangements because I have asthma. I had cleaned everything out of the bathroom, missed showers, and kept tub area dry per the requirements... and then I find out that they cancelled my job appointment...Maybe they cancelled because it was New Year's Eve???? I've been trying to update things in my 25-year old house recently (new roof, new fridge, new…read moremicrowave,...). The grout and silicone caulk in the main bathroom shower had been deteriorating for too long. It was pretty bad so I reached out to The Grout Doctor. I set up an appointment and Mac (a great guy by the way) came over a few days ago. He has over 20 years of experience and it showed. He went far beyond what I was expecting. Not only did he replace the moldy silicone all around the shower and replace all the cracked moldy grout, he completely cleaned the shower walls and floor with a razor. I never realized how much soap scum could build up even with fairly regular cleanings using a bathroom surface cleaner. Everything looks better than I expected it to look. I highly recommend giving them a call and let them work their magic. The shower now looks like it did decades ago.
