SUPER WHITE? More like SUPER YELLOW ROTTEN!
Lisa M.

LOOK AT MULTIPLE REVIEWS SAYING OLD FISH as well: I ordered to go on 7/9/25. The super white Tuna handroll $12.95 was ROTTEN!! It was yellow like on the edges and foul fishy nasty, and I ate 1 slice of the fish & couldn't get that foul flavor out of my mouth! This is unacceptable that a sushi chef CANNOT TELL IF THE FISH THEY ARE SERVING IS ROTTEN. To make matters worse, I left a message right away. Heard nothing, then called again left another message. 3 days later, they called. I asked for my money back, and she said NO! WOW UNBELIEVABLE! Overpriced rotten sushi 1 roll & 1 hand roll was $34 crazy Go to ANGRY FISH ALWAYS FRESH, ALWAYS NICE & they guarantee freshness

Our always order: Surf & Turf - must love pepper Temperature Fi - a little kick 888 Coals - semi-sweet roll w/ 10% spice Love this place. This is one of my favorite places; I'm lucky it's local. Worth a little drive tho. The little dishes are a splurge, but are a wonderful unique flavor experience. It's that good. Great staff. FYI: parking is occasionally a little rough.

I love the sushi at this little spot in the village. Here are my favs: 1) Salmon Fantasy 2) Mike and Lisa 3) Lauren and Lindsey 4) Jada They also some make standard rolls and have a good selection of sake. They also have a TV so you can catch the local game. This place is a little on the expensive side so we typically enjoy it for a special occasion. Looking forward to the next celebration!

Wow. How have I never tried this place?! This is the same owner as Prive in Burlingame, which had amazing food, music, and a great spot for night life. The owner, Stanley, is amazing and is clearly a veteran in the industry! The sashimi at iSushi is 10/10 quality. I am so impressed. The fish was cut perfectly, portions were great, and pieces melt in your mouth. Prices are reasonable for the amount, quality, and presentation. The service was great! Super attentive and gave details on how we can best enjoy our meal. Will certainly be back to try the Omakase tasting menu specifically. I've heard amazing things about the Josh, tempura portobello, and salmon toro! And man, talk about an impressive food and sake menu!

Service continues to be slow and I so want it not to be. Food came out temperature appropriate but not everyone for their Food Together which is something I do not tolerate. We came to eat together not have to wait ten minutes between three of us. Everyone is very nice. Food is flavorful, a bit on the expensive side but I live in CV and there is not a lot of talent as far restaurants go so it is what it is. Been coming here since it opened back in the day. Miss seeing the owner Stanley there. Give it a go, food is good and rolls are awesome. Service needs help hope things change around In that arena.

Chanced upon this place looking for dinner with a friend visiting from out of state--- so glad we tried the place! GREAT food! GREAT staff and service. Their tempura is sooo yummy and not greasy. We had to order another one of the items we got because it was simply delish!

Late afternoon lunch at Castro Valley Village. An old colleague informed me of this sushi restaurant some time ago. It's time to try it. Walking in, I found a seat at the sushi bar. After a while, a server provided a menu. The menu was quite extensive and a bit on the pricey side. I'm looking for a light meal. By process of elimination, I had ordered the chicken katsu and salmon roll bento. The crispy katsu over a bed of rice and tonkatsu sauce was good. The server was cordial but not very inviting. I would consider returning g to try their sushi and sashimi.

Their menu selection is superb, they're consistent with quality. If you're looking for sushi that's creative and flavorful, isushi is great. They're pricey but worth it!

Ask the Community - iSushi

Do they take reservations?

Yes. It is a really small space about less than 10 sushi bar seats and about 5 tables of 2-4 seats. It gets busy, so it's a good idea to call them ahead.

Is the Miso soup in the green section vegetarian or does it contain fish scales?

Miso Soup. "Dashi is a basic stock used in Japanese cooking which is made by boiling dried kelp (seaweed) and dried bonito (fish).

If you order something from the green section, do you have Miso Soup that is vegetarian?

Per the server, there is no vegetarian miso soup

Are any of your vegetarian items considered vegan?

Yes a lot

I got to try firefly squid for the first time which has a short 1 month season. All the appetizers were unique, tasty, and beautifully presented. After 6 appetizers we got 8 nigiris and all tasted delicious. Wasabi was grated right in front of us. Not a lot of fatty cuts but each piece was so soft and tender. My favorites were the salmon, lean tuna, and otoro. We also ordered the rosy seabass from the supplement menu and it's the fattiest and most tender white fish i've ever had. Also so pleasantly surprised by the castella tamago which was made out of black tiger prawn, yam, and egg. It had an insane is-it-egg-or-cake flavor and texture. Restaurant is small with a cozy and intimate vibe. Service is top notch. Overall it was such a great meal and great night. This is prob the best omakase i've had in the bay

The restaurant is cute inside and definitely got the Japanese decors and vibe that makes the experience better. It is quite a small restaurant that can sit probably 16ish people capacity. Service was very attentive and friendly as expected. It is a fixed menu style and the food serving size is just okay because I expect something a bit more. I do find the food taste is bland and certain dishes are just okay. Food taste and quality is below my expectation for a somewhat expensive price tag comparing to what's served. The miso black cod was bland, the eel over rice was just nah, and the mackerel nigiri was super fishy. We didn't finish some of the nigiri even though there were only 6 of them total served. We added Otoro for extra $18 a piece and it was good (I mean how could you go wrong with Otoro?!) a bit too fatty of a cut so torching it make it better. We got a bottle of their sake and it was pretty good. I am disappointed because I am really hoping CV could have more great quality restaurants. Glad to give it a try though to cross off a list.

After passing by Genghix Asian Fusion for years, my wife finally suggested we give it a try--and…read moreI'm glad we did. Four of us went for dinner and had a great experience. The interior has that classic, old-school Asian restaurant vibe, almost bordering on a tiki bar feel. I'd heard about Genghix from locals for a long time, and now I understand the appeal. We started with the chicken lettuce cups and seared butterfish--both were excellent, and our 11-year-old especially loved the lettuce cups. For entrées, we ordered seafood Pad Thai, chicken fried rice, honey walnut prawns, Mongolian chicken, and steamed rice. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and easily held its own against some of our go-to spots. We had plenty of leftovers and they tasted great for lunch the next day. Overall, it was a really enjoyable meal, and we're already planning to go back and explore more of the menu. It's extensive and can feel a bit overwhelming, but if you're in the mood for Japanese, Chinese, Thai, or Vietnamese cuisine, you'll definitely find something that hits the spot.

I went straight for the pho (had to), especially the bun rieu, and it did not disappoint. Flavorful, comforting, and exactly what you want when you're craving something legit. The sushi was also on point-fresh, well made, and gone way too fast. And the appetizers? Honestly, too many to even list, but every one we tried hit. This is a perfect spot for big family gatherings, there's something for everyone, no debates needed. Only downside is it can get pretty busy, so expect a bit of a wait to be seated. But once you're in, it's definitely worth it. Come hungry... and maybe bring backup so you can try more of the menu.
