This was a NIGHTMARE from the start at my home with the foreman in charge of the move. He had ZERO intentions of honoring the contract quote I'd been given by his office. He started building a list of things he intended to charge me extra for 30 minutes into the move. He started with insisting that I come outside to look at the size of his truck. Which I thought was strange to start a move however after a second & third request from him I relented and went outside. My thinking being I hired a moving company so why wouldn't they come with a truck big enough for the move. So the truck was twice the size of what I needed for the move and more than big enough for my furniture to fit. However he starts to tell about how many cubic feet his truck has & that my furniture should only occupy so much space. At first I questioned him on why we were doing this before he and his other 2 crew members began working. His answer was vague and made no sense until he came into my house and proceeded to tell me that my TV's were too big and I had more items than he expected and he would have to use more boxes. So he starts to build a list of additional charges 30 minutes into the packing process. As he's building the list I showed him the written estimate I had with an itemized list of what I was quoted to compare to his list. He was visibly upset and started haggling with me about everything and going back and forth to his truck to talk to the main office. He basically stopped working to haggle with me for the next 3 hours thus slowing down the process. He tried to overcharge me for cubic feet, larger crates for my TV's and extra boxes, shrink wrap, tape etc.. A complete NIGHTMARE so 5 hours later I told him I'd had enough and I call the company directly in front of him to hold everyone accountable to what we agreed on based on a zoom video call I had with the person who gave me the estimate. In this recorded video call we itemized everything that needed to be moved & itemized the size of the furniture, TV's and the amount of boxes and materials needed for the job! The foreman was rude and disgruntled with me and the company at this point. He clearly intended to charge me an additional $1500 based off of his bogus estimate without EVER producing his copy of the original estimate. That was just the beginning of this nightmare with a rude foreman trying to bait and switch the estimate. The quality of the packing was TERRIBLE they basically threw everything in the boxes in no coordination or regard for my property. To make matters worse they didn't label ONE SINGLE BOX! The appointment was for 8am they showed up an hour late, haggled, took multiple cigarette breaks as a group and finished 8 hours later. As I'm communicating my displeasure with the situation to the office they offered me a discount on the initial payment which they honored & promise to discount the balance for my troubles because I paid cash. When my items arrived in Atlanta there was ONE mover to unload the truck and I was told there would be NO unpacking or reassembling. My new apartment is in an apartment building on the 5th floor and the elevator has sensors so basically EVERY TIME he loaded and unloaded the elevator I had to stand there and hold the door. Not to mention he's working alone and asked me to help him which I refused beyond holding the elevator doors. I paid for movers not to work for and with them. So classic poor service and several of my items were damaged upon arrival. Photos were taken of the damaged items with the promise of reimbursement. I have not heard back from the company and I've already accepted the loss so this is my only recourse. In addition to the extra one thousand dollars the company charged me for poor quality I've had to spend an additional $600 for unpacking, breaking down and removing boxes along with reassembling. This company failed me at every step and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND them at all! I would give them ZERO stars!!

I've moved often enough to have experienced the good and the bad of movers. These guys are GREAT! Careful, accurate estimates, extremely careful attention to handling, not just wrapping furniture in moving blankets to avoid damage but METICULOUS wrapping, careful handling... every aspect of the move was absolutely top-drawer with thoughtful, professional attention to detail. The guys on the truck were all experienced, knowledgable longtime employees, not the day laborers who didn't know anything about how to do a professional move that other companies have employed. The fact that someone would choose to work with Daniel & Sons for 10 or 20 years says volumes itself. If this company can provide moving services to you, DON'T EVEN CONSIDER USING ANYONE ELSE!

After the move was completed I noticed that a few pieces to my furniture was missing, again I contacted the owner who said he'll get to the bottom of things. After several attempts to follow up, the owner never responded. Now I have and incomplete set that must be replace. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you value your belongings. They're run like a mom and pop shop.

    Are we talking about the same moving company? My experience was nothing short of a nightmare…read more Nicole was horrible to work with and the move was a mess. I work in a position that requires every aspect of my job to be in place before the actual encounter date. I expected this company to be professionals and have everything in line before the moving date. In hindsight I see why the two moving companies I called before Garden State said they would send someone over a guy to do an estimate. The movers came and said nothing to me about not being packed correctly. I left for a moment and the foreman called Nicole and said I did not pack right. I'm no professional but I thought I did a great job. Nicole decided since I had three guys, (mind you the new guy was sick most of the move) and I did not pack right that she was raising the rate from $145 an hr. to $190 an hr. and taking away the 10% discount agreed upon in the contract. My bed is not properly put together, and I can't find screws for tv stands and other things, it's just a mess. I rely heavily on honest reviews, and I am happy that others seemed to have a good experience. Not me. BEWARE!!!

    I had a very heavy 6ft bathroom vanity with a 1 in granite top that I needed moved to a 2nd floor…read morebathroom. The vanity had to be over 500#. Home Depot dropped it in my doorway and refused to bring it any further. I called Garden State movers on a Saturday to which a very friendly lady took all my info, explained everything I needed to know, gave me a price, and gave me the time that they were arriving within a hour. A half hour before they came I received a phone call telling me exactly when they would arrive. When the 2 gentlemen arrived they introduced they're selves with a hand shake, and they then scoped out the job first. I questioned them that there was only 2 of them, how would they be be able to lift the vanity even though they Both were pretty buff. They had the vanity and the top in the bathroom in matter of 10 minutes. They were both very careful watching that they didn't drop or bang the vanity. During the whole move, I was impressed that they verbally talked the move to each other while making the move. I would use Garden state again, and I would highly recommend 3

DO NOT, DO NOT, hire them for any moves…read more They are not located in Jackson and do business under a different name called: Greater Eastern Moving Co or Payless Moving Co. (that's what the credit card authorization form had written on it). The trucks are located somewhere in Newark and drivers are from north jersey and New York City. They operate using a (908) and (732) area code phone number. I never write reviews but the owner/manager was mean and I do not want anyone else to have the same issue. They were suppose to move my grandma into an assisted living facility on the 15th. The move had to be completed by 5pm per facility rules. Which they knew about. They were schedule to come in the afternoon. Her move was the second of the day. After several calls in which the company did not know the location of their driver, they Cancelled the move and it had to be completed the next day. Had to take off work and rearrange my schedule for the next day. When I re-called them for some discount bc the move was not completed on the day it was supposed to be, the man (owner) hung up on me. Poor/rude costumer service. Didn't apologize for anything. The driver was the only nice one and contacted me personally. However, he is not the one who owns this company. Please save yourself the headache and hire another company even if it's more money than this company. I'm not one to complain and I have never written a review on yelp.

    I was weighing my options between this company and another for my local move and ended up choosing…read moreAmple Moving because I've used their services before years ago with no issues. My most recent move went without a hitch on the actual day, until the very same night when I realized they threw away ALL of my blankets and bedsheets into the TRASH. When I could not locate the missing blankets, I called the movers who were adamant that everything on the truck had been unloaded. I drove back to my old apartment TWICE and was still unable to locate the missing blankets until I checked the DUMPSTER, which is where they were. I had specifically requested that certain bag of soft blankets and bedsheets to be loaded onto the truck. They left All Trash in my apartment and instead trashed the very bag I specifically requested to be loaded. I had to dash to Walmart at 9:45PM to have bedding to sleep on. I took a 3rd walkthrough of my new apartment and the old apartment and I am also missing my tools. I am a single woman with a certain amount of tools to get by with small projects. Yet, ALL of my tools except for a Hammer are missing. Noting these things that were missing, I reached out to the manager, ALLEN, who assured me he would investigate what happened and would be calling me back. It has been 5 days with silence and no answers. Had I known my move would've ended with missing tools and trashed blankets, I would've gone with the other company. I am absolutely disgusted with this company and its lack of response. Would not be surprised if I were to continue to realize additional items missing.
