I did a bedroom swap, took my bedroom to my gf's house and brought her bedroom to mine. So basically a 2 room move. I was quoted $150/hr, with a 3 hr minimum which was fine, Im figuring how long can it to move 2 bedrooms? (Even considering travel time, she is 35 miles from me) They arrived at my house at Sunday morning @940am, they were done loading the bedroom and leaving by 10:15, They got to her place at 11:30 (no idea why it took them an 1:15 minutes to go from Toms River to Morganville), its no more than 45 mins max. They left her place at 1:40pm. So it took them 3 hrs to move my 1 room into her place and bring her 1 room down to the truck (granted shes on 3rd floor so you allow extra time for that). So they leave her at 140pm and get back to me @3:12PM. Thats an hour and 32 minutes to go approx 40 miles. I dont know if they stopped for lunch or what, but thats insane (Even taking into account it was raining). They were done loading her furniture back into my place in under half an hour. All told, SIX HOURS to move 2 rooms. DOUBLE what I was initially quoted. $900 to move essentially 2 rooms. Thank GOD I wasnt moving an entire 4 bedroom house it would have taken them 3.5 days and cost me $7k. Never again. I took it on the chin for this one. And conveniently there card system was down, which I wasnt told about until there were done and ready to leave, so I had no other option to pay them than with Zelle, which works in their favor because you cant dispute a Zelle transaction. That to me felt like a very sketchy move, especially because I was only told about it after I asked the moving guy to call and confirm this ridiculous cost, and the response was "its an hourly job". No shit, but I'm quite sure they were told to milk those hours.

After several horrendous experiences with College Hunks which was just a group of jerks and clowns.... (Yes, reviewed) and Bohrens(who were my "go-to's" and very professional under now retired Scott Cox who was right on top of every aspect) ...someone stepped forward and said go with Varsity...and I am very happy with the first chapter!! Rob got right back to me, scheduled an in-person estimate and arrived early...dressed professionally even though we had to do part of this in 90 degrees. Rob made sure I understood how things would go; best of all, gave me tips on preparing for my move and caring for things in storage in this heat and explained the estimate in detail... Rob is very warm in his manner and if people are going through my life and things ...as movers must do, it helps to feel that your move is important and the person in charge isn't just handing you a "take it or leave it" estimate... if you have moved before, you know this is special.
