    Hibachi steak
    Gregory B.

I went here with my kids for my birthday this year, as I heard it was a great hibachi joint. I was thinking serve at table, ala Benihana or similar, but no dice. I won't rate down for that, as I was not promised anything and I want to be fair. The atmosphere is rather small town Japanese, but that fits Fairview. They have a decent sized sushi bar to the left as you walk in, the seating is to the right. The service was prompt and she did a good job making sure everyone was taken care of. The food? From a hibachi standpoint, it is rather boring. I rarely salt my food and found it was necessary for the hibachi steak. A bit overcooked and a bit too lightly seared for my taste. The veggies were fine (see picture), but the hibachi rice was cooked way ahead of time and was completely underwhelming, to say the least. I find rice to be tricky anyway. Fortunately, they did not cook the sushi rice far ahead of service, as it would have made the sushi taste like a garbage can (aka, Supermarket sushi - and don't write me to say you know where there is good supermarket sushi in Nashville, as you are lying to yourself if you think so - LOL). If you order hibachi, you get a clear beef broth (miso soup with Bento boxes) and a ginger dressing salad. I think the salad dressing had a bit too much mayo, which ended up hiding the ginger. The girls loved their bento boxes and I got the chance to try a bit of the Udon, which was nicely done. And they brought me a bowl of ice cream for my birthday (no annoying singing). Would I return? If I had a friend in Fairview who wanted to, I would probably try again, but I would not order the hibachi. Otherwise, there are better hibachi restaurants in town where they actually cook in front of you, guaranteeing it is very hot when you get it. Plus, you get a show. Maybe "good enough for Fairview, but not worth the drive"?

Clean restaurant! Service was decent and food was above average. Worth the visit and will eat here again.

This is the best place in Dickson to get hibachi and the sushi isn't as good as Nashville but it is a very close second.

There was only 1 table left open after my wife and I were seated. After trying the first appetizer, we then proceeded to order $200 worth of food. This is NOT saying this place is expensive, this is saying how AMAZING the food is. We wanted leftovers and another meal for later from here. Gyoza was so fresh and cooked perfectly, I'm in no way a fan of sauces but the one they came with, I was nearly drinking it from the plate. Spicy Rock Shrimp are what Bang Bang Shrimp from Bonefish Grill, WISH they could be. Highly recommend trying them. The Dragon, Kamikaze, Wow, Fire Lobster, Sakura and Tiger rolls were incredible. Everything was so fresh and tasted amazing. This is one of the only places that has had Unagi Don and it was cooked perfectly, it literally melts in your mouth. We also ordered Gyudon and the House Fried Rice. The meat is so flavorful and fresh in literally everything. There is nothing here you can go wrong with here. My only complaint is they have Pepsi. After trying this food, I'd happily drink from the sink if it meant eating here again. Even though they were super busy our server Avery was amazing as well! She was very sweet and did an amazing job. We're over an hour away with other options nearby but we will always pass them up to drive back to this place, there is nothing you can go wrong with here. Absolutely and whole heartedly recommend this place!

The restaurant is on the smaller side with a mix of table seating and counter seats overlooking the kitchen. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation because it filled up quickly. Even though the restaurant was packed, the noise level was perfect--we could still have a conversation without shouting. The bar service for drinks was a little slow, but the staff kept us updated throughout and were incredibly friendly. Everyone was hustling--they handled check-ins, took orders, ran food, and kept everything moving despite how busy they were. The food completely exceeded my expectations. The ahi toast and seared yellowtail were absolute must-orders. Both had incredible flavor, and the fish practically melted in your mouth. The cucumber salad was fresh, flavorful, and a great appetizer while we waited for our drinks. The dumplings took quite a while to come out (they actually arrived after our hot pot), and while they were tasty, they weren't nearly as memorable as everything else we ordered. The shabu shabu was outstanding. We chose the miso broth with the NY strip, and the portion was huge! There was more than enough food for the three of us to happily share, and everything was fresh and delicious. Our cocktails were excellent and well worth the wait. Overall, Kosho delivered a fantastic dining experience with amazing food, friendly service, and a fun atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

A good amoutn of tables, but does not feel too crowded. To get Shabu Shabu, you either sit at the bar or you grab a table that is condusive to shabu shabu. If you have multiple people ordering shabu shabu with different broths, you should grab the bar. The New York strip is better than the short rib, in my view. I did the miso broth, which is not overly salty, like some. A definite win for me. Adding in the spicy chile oil, fresh garlic, and scallions added the proper kick to the broth. The handroll was truly a handroll. She said she preferred when they sent it out rolled, as there was more rice than she normally likes. But the salmon itself was done well and tasty. The lamb lollipops were excellently done. I would return for this alone. Having numbers on the drinks is likely authentic, but I love creative names. The 35 is a Japanese twist on an Old Fashioned. The sishito pepper is a nice touch as a garnish (or appetizer?). The 34 was even better. It did not quite hit the high note of a similar drink at Sushi-San, but it did not disappoint. I can safely recommend this to anyone wanting to get shabu shabu without the all you can eat buffet option you get at shabu shabu on West End.

The ONLY reason I give 4 stars is because with so many Hibachi stations the overall temperature of the restaurant is hot, so much so it can become uncomfortable. Sadly, after many visits, we won't be back…read more We've been coming here since they opened, and to be fair, the food is decent. Our issue has never really been the food, it's been one particular waiter (short Indian guy) who seems to think he's auditioning for a comedy career that nobody asked for. Over the years, he's made a habit of inappropriate jokes, including calling my wife "hot mama" and asking whether she or my underage daughter wants a "hot Asian guy" after asking what we'd like to order. Maybe it was funny the first time, but after hearing it over and over, it started to get a little creepy. We've generally brushed it off and tried to enjoy our meal. All the other staff have always been great and friendly. Yesterday, though, there were thankfully no jokes toward my wife or daughter. Instead, he seemed to be having a particularly bad day and decided to take it out on our table for no apparent reason. I understand that everyone has bad days, but add that to everything else and it's generally not worth it. It's disappointing that this is what finally did it. The food has never really been the problem, and there are plenty of places where we can eat without wondering what inappropriate comment is coming next. So, unfortunately, we're done. And to the "hot Asian guy": after all these years, we've officially had our fill. Funny thing is, the food was never what left a bad taste in our mouths.
