Took my daughter here and for the first time walked away feeling like I'd found a dr that was willing to help her. She's been saying for years she sees double vision quite often. All the other eye drs just dismissed her but dr lung was more than happy to spend extra time with her to get to the bottom of things. We find the selection of frames and products vast and varied, as we have purchased our families frames and lenses for the last 10+ years. Have to take 2 stars away for the level of snark and impatience we've encountered with the front desk associates. Everything is great about this office. Start with making an appointment, online or when you leave a message they always get back to you quickly, the front desk, assistances, and rest of the staff, they are all professional & welcoming from the moment you walk through their door. I made an appointment to see Dr. Les Lung as I read that amongst other qualifications, Dr. Lung specializes in contact lenses. And what a smart decision it was. Dr. Lung is extremally professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant. He changed all my prescriptions for the best! Contacts, distance & occupational glasses (2 pairs). My go to place for eye care and eye wear. I've been a patient for at least 10 years and have always received excellent care and service. The docs are extremely thorough and I've found all of the staff to be great to work with. So many people view eye exams as something you just have to get through to get your glasses or contacts. Issaquah Eyeworks has always has cutting edge equipment and while that equipment may lead to more expensive exams, it's your vision at stake. For me this is a high priority. Thanks to that technology I was made aware of an indicator that I could develop macular degeneration early on. Last year my dog ate my glasses. I didn't have a backup pair so I had to go to a place that offers one hour service for a temporary pair. Since I was due for an exam and they carried the frames I wanted for a permanent pair of glasses, I decided to order them there instead of taking my quick pair and then going to IE. It's definitely a decision I regret. The lenses are poorer quality as are the coatings on the lenses. As with most things, you get what you pay for. I just went back to IE and am looking forward to getting my new glasses with lenses that are the quality I've become accustomed to. read more

Beware of up-sell and unnecessary tests which result in surprise bills. The staff does not communicate of how much the tests cost, and what is covered by insurance. In my case the inaccurate test equipment prompted for a follow up exam, which later showed no-issues. I was billed large sum for both inaccurate test results, and for the follow up unnecessary test. When called to set this right, they didn't care. read more

Friendly, expert, personalized, local small business service.....which means a lot these days. I've been coming here for at least 6 years and have always been very happy with the eye care I receive. Every year they get new high tech equipment to do your retinal scan, etc. The doctors here are highly educated and knowledgeable and they don't hesitate to refer you to a specialist if they think you have a problem that should be seen by someone who deals with ocular issues beyond their training. I'm especially happy with Dr. Yoshimura's expertise in contact lenses. Each year she gets excited telling me about the new contact lens options available to me.... and then always manages to find me the perfect type and fit. My current lenses are multi-focal daily wear and I forget that I'm wearing them, even at the end of the day. And did I mention their cute trending glasses? I've been having issues with discomfort when using my glasses the past year and I needed a second opinion. Upon arrival the staff was friendly and welcoming. I wasn't in the waiting room very long before I was brought in for the preliminary tests by the tech. Dr. Choy was very professional and patient; answered all my questions. He explained the results of the tests and predicted some of the issues I didn't inquire about yet. He was very thorough, and had good suggestions along with my new prescription. They were near closing but didn't rush me out the door. I was fitted for glasses and given a quote without realizing it was way pass their closing time. Just moved to Issaquah lately and found this place. They take Saturday appointments, which is wonderful with my work schedule. The staff is very friendly and professional and Dr. Yoshimura was great... she took her time explaining things and was extremely friendly. I have been coming to Issaquah Eyeworks for many years and have always had a great experience here. Even when they get new equipment (which is great), they always know exactly how to operate them. In the front, Sheri/Sherry (unsure of spelling), is very helpful in all aspects. I wanted to make sure that she got the kudos she deserves. The doctors are awesome and they have the best selection of glasses. However, after 10 years of coming to this place, we are going elsewhere. I don't have time to deal with front office people I can't rely on with the exception of Shari. I made and confirmed an appointment for my daughter who is attending UW. I went all the way to Seattle and back for her appointment and they told me she wasn't eligible for an exam till the following month. They apologized for their scheduling error and said I could still do the exam but I'd have to pay for it. Mind you, I called twice and confirmed the appointment as UW is a considerable drive. They also made mistakes with my benefit plan so this was the last straw. Its a shame, we have been long time patients. read more

Picked up my first pair of prescription sunglasses earlier this week. I figured there would be an adjustment period while getting used to them.  What I didn't realize was that the adjustment would be positive instead of frustrating!  A tremendous difference, one that made me put my phone away and just look around at the world again like a little kid.  A 3 business day turnaround (understandably not always possible, but great when it worked out that way) was awesome from Maui Jim's and I LOVE these glasses very much already. :) Whatever brand you're interested in, Issaquah Eyeworks is happy to help. :) read more

I was with them for years just because they are close to my house, my experience was average until my last visit: I was served 45 minutes later after my appointment time. I've been a patient here for almost two years. The front desk staff is very attentive in person as well as over the phone. My most recent visit was with Dr. Choy and he provided exceptional care. I left with a prescription for the sharpest vision I've ever had. My husband has been going here for over 15 years and the doctors are terrific, but the front counter staff has been terrible for the last few years. That is why I don't go there any more and now my husband will not be returning. They said they were going to send me the forms for my insurance that isn't a perferred provider and I of course they only sent their bill after I called 6 times to tell them I don't have the program to open their email. The last couple of times my daughter and husband has gone there they made them pay even though my insurance would pay them in full. So after calling them they would reverse the charges, but I shouldn't have to tell them what to do. They were going to receive the check from my insurance then give me the money back, why?! read more

Doctors and technicians are good but they have serious issues in billing and handling of insurances. Most of the time they will tell that services are covered under insurance but later bills will start coming in mail. Their front end staff does not do proper homework and does not communicate accurately about the charges. My account ended up in collection, even though I had been going there for other services. Their staff will not bring up pending charges issue during office visits. read more

I have visited Issaquah Eyeworks several times...for my exam, checkup, to order a pair of glasses and then back to pick up/ adjust my glasses. The exam was good, the doctors are nice. When I visited them to pick out a pair of glasses the service started out good (not great) and then was below mediocre when I decided on a pair. The assistant that helped me was Katy. She was indifferent to the whole process. She was never mean, but not what I would call helpful. She did her job and that was the extent of the experience. They had a BOGO and I thought that if it was reasonable, I would pull the trigger. When I saw that I would be spending more than I could afford, I decided not to buy two pairs. Katy did not seam too happy about that. When I came back to pick up my glasses, Katy and I sat down to adjust them. Again, looking like she doesn't really care about what she was doing. I put on the glasses and told her that they felt crooked. She responded by saying that they looked straight. So she adjusted them and they still were not sitting right on my face. Again she says, but they look straight. I tried to explain what felt weird. She just looked at me and did not attempt to dive into why I felt they were not comfortable. She kept saying they look straight. Ok I get it, they look straight. But she obviously did not get that they did not right on my face. I thought the whole point of getting glasses adjusted is to get them to fit your particular face. Then she calls someone over to help (Shari) and she repeats to me that they look straight. So knowing I was not going to get any resolution I said it must be me, took my glasses and left. I called back to get their names and the person who answered the phone asked if everything was ok. So I explained to her what happened. She offered to let me speak to the office manager but I was over it. Shari called me after the complaint to attempt to help me further with adjusting my glasses. I told her that their concern to make sure my glasses fit me should have happened when I was there and not after I left. I will never go there again. read more

I have gone to this place for eye check up several times in past 4 years. I see dr. Leslie Lung and he is great. I highly recommend them. They do have a very large frame selection as well. They take care of all insurace or VSP paper work for you. If you have VSP, your eye exams are free (yearly VSP eye exam) and glasses are free if you don't need top of the line. That's what I got one time and and last time I paid $180 because I wanted special lenses and expensive frames. read more

While the people are friendly, polite, and knowledgeable, they assume everyone's a millionaire based on their pricing. 260.00 for an EXAM? They never bothered to explain that their rates are 5 times the going rate for an exam, and thereby burned out every penny of my insurance and left me 120.00 in the hole for mine and my wife's exams. When you know that two people have a 200.00 max benefit for insurance, you really ought to tell them that their exams won't even be covered by it. We'd put aside money for figuring that if we wanted nice frames it'd be a few bucks more, but nope. They kindly offered us a discount on the exams if we bought the frames we'd looked at for close to a grand for both pairs of glasses. Not everyone in Issaquah makes a million year at Microsoft, people. read more

I've read through a few of the reviews and I have to say we must all be going to a different place... first off, I don't do my exams here, only because I've had the same optometrist for a few years in the area... HOWEVER, I do come here because, hands down they have the best selection of glasses in the area I've seen... I came in with my prescription, and started browsing... was greeted at the door, but not really "bothered" while I browsed which I appreciated... I started my own little pile of stuff I liked and when it looked like I was ready for help Robin jumped in and helped with the selection process... she was polite, knowledgeable and informative... turns out, all these years, I've been buying glasses too narrow for my head (hence the indents in my head)... I was pretty adamant that I liked the more narrow frames, and Robin, to her credit gently yet with instance gave me options that were better suited for me... in the end, I listened to reason and I'm glad I did... I ended up with an awesome pair of Oakley glasses... she also helped me pick out a pair of Oakley sunglasses and did a little manipulation so that they would put my prescription in to them... I was quoted on 7-10 business days for the glasses to be ready which put me right up against a dead line I had to go somewhere for a wedding... less than four days later I got a call letting me know my glasses were both ready to go... went in, Robin got me adjusted up, shook my hand and sent me on my way a VERY satisfied customer... thank you all for your help, professionalism and high quality work! read more

Horrible service. Came in to buy two pairs of Maui Jim prescription sunglasses. When we got there they had three customers and 4 ladies working. Gal unlocked the cabinet and that was it. More people came in and we waited. And waited. And waited while two gals just worked on the computers at the front desk. Finally after a half hour we asked for help and a woman put us way down on a list, behind everyone that came in after us. Needless to say we left and will never be back. Went to Market Optical, had great service and had no problem dropping over a grand on the glasses we wanted. Issaquah Eyeworks missed out on a nice easy sale. If you don't take care of your customers someone else will!!!! read more

I chose to get glasses at Issy Eyeworks about 4 years ago. That's when Elizabeth worked there - I was so happy with the service. I have insureance but chose to pay full price becuase the selection of frames and the service was great. Unfortunately, that has dramaticaaly changed. They have changed their business hours so tat it makes it difficult for someone working during the day to make it in. The Saturday hours have been shorened to 2:00pm instead of 5:00. I recently got a new perscription and had tried several times to get in when they were open to no avail. During this time I lost my old glasses and I was desparate to get new ones. My daughter and I stopped off on Saturday -the door was wide open and as we approached the door, the woman behind the counter shouted out - we are closing in 5 minutes - I can only help you if you are doing a quick pickup. I politely told them that I had been trying to come in, but their hours were not conducive to working clients. Needless tosay, we left, I went to another glasses shop at the mall, bought my new glasses and they had them to me within 3 days becuase I was without my old glasses. I will NEVER recomend or patronize Issaquah Eyeworks again! read more

I have had dozens of eye exams in my life, many in wealthy Manhattan neighborhoods at small boutique businesses, but NEVER have I paid $300+ for an eye+contact exam. That is what is costs at Eye Works. In short, I get $400 per year for eye exam+contacts with my insurance and the exam ate up most of it. Unbelievable. You would think that for $300 you would get outstanding service/doctors etc. The doctor was fine, just a regular eye doctor, but one of their measuring machines were broken! OK, I would not normally complain about that (or the fact that I have to go back another day to get that measurement done) but for $300 yes, I am going to bring that up. I have never had a machine be down even at cheap optometrists (at Walmart, Cosco). If you have $300 for a run-of-the-mill eye exam, then go for it. If not, go somewhere else. read more

The frames they sell there are simply - the worst I have bought my frames in to them for repaired 5-7 times and keep having to come back because: the little screws that are SUPPOSED TO hold the lens IN - keep falling OUT. These were a pair of $400+ glasses. WARNING! Don't buy your frames there - you'll get raped - and your lens will fall out at the most embarrassing moment! read more

Now I get the bad reviews....The doctors seem good, but the office staff is terrible. They lied to my face about appointments being scheduled with the wrong doctor. They lied to my insurance company about what I was billed for (or they were so clueless they didn't know, either way, unacceptable.) When shopping for glasses one woman was downright insulting and kept telling me that I looked old or my face was too fat for those glasses. Then quoted me prices that didn't take my insurance into account--even with insurance this place is pricey. The next person who tried to help, although nice, couldn't seem to get the same frames in that I'd tried on in the office on a previous visit. All in all, just a seemingly unorganized office that gave wrong information and blamed everyone except themselves for errors. read more

My experience with Issaquah Eyeworks & Dr. Teri Yoshimura was not positive. Prior to making an appt. I talked with the front desk explaining my insurance policy and the fact that I'm retired and could not afford any additional expense. I was told over & over again that my insurance would definitely cover all of my examine & glasses however, that was NOT the case. Made appt., following the exam. Dr. Teri really scared me into making an additional appt. for additional unnecessary tests. Again, I was told my insurance would cover it all. Again not the case. After everything, my out of pocket expense was over $500. They constantly up-sale their product and services. Not a good experience. I won't be going back. read more
