My daughter has two insurance providers who are covered by Pearle Vision. They had her seen by the doctor and told me AFTERWARDS that the doctor is through ISSAQUAH EYECARE - not covered by her better insurance where her copay should've been $10, instead I had to pay $85 because they decided not to explain this ahead of the appointment. Then when her appointment was over everyone was on lunch so we could've even get her contacts and glasses through Pearle Vision unless we waited. The doctor was good but the front desk, insurance part of this place is absolutely ridiculous. I found this store very disorganized and it seemed like a lot of employees couldn't figure out what was going on shuffling a lot of papers. They appeared so unsure of what they were doing. I was even more surprised when all of a sudden some guy appeared with an iPad and he didn't know what was going on I had to figure out if he worked there. Their answers to my questions about my prescription were very non informative. The eye exam was absolutely horrible and all I heard "is well that's why I am doctor?" I was so uncomfortable. I ended up leaving and going to another optometry clinic. The new clinic seemed like they got the job done real quick and provided me answers to my questions. They called me at 12:23 & left a message saying my appt was at 12:20 and if I got there more than 10 minutes late I'd have to reschedule. (I thought it was at 12:50 but was almost there anyway to arrive early). I called them back *immediately* but no one answered... I arrived at 12:26 but they refused to see me and said I had to reschedule despite being disabled and unable to drive so I couldn't just come back any time - coming in at all is a big deal for my health. I tried this place based off of my husband's recommendation. My first experience was not pleasant. I came In shortly after an elderly gentleman who needed to use the restroom due to medical emergency. They denied him several times even after he identified himself as an existing patient and that it was a medical emergency. They directed him to the nearest Safeway which was across the parking lot. I was shocked by this interaction and understand due to Covid there are certain restrictions. However, I feel like in certain cases we need to give a little compassion. The assistant asked her manager who immediately denied the request in front of the patient giving no other reason. I went back hesitant and after being told the cost of the exam I asked her to check again as I have full coverage ( my husband checked our insurance afterwards). Her response was that I only had 8 minutes left of the appointment. Since the interaction was not pleasant, the other staff and the doctor were right there I decided to go with my gut and leave. Honestly, I would have had no issue paying for the cost but it still bothered me how they treated their patient and thought if this is how it is. I better take my business elsewhere. Once I reviewed the Yelp reviews, which I should have done before, I understand why this office gets the rating it does. Paying for services is to be expected, however the lack of respect is not something to be tolerated. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere until this office and the issues can be addressed. read more

I made a appointment for my son and at the time I asked them to check my coverage which I was told yes I then looked into it and found they are a preferred provider which they are in my network that mean I am covered at 100 percent when I get there I am told there is a fitting fee and training fee of 140$ which I know my coverage pays both, after talking to m the Dr and then a conference call with my insurance and found that not only where they trying to charge me a fee I get for free but they where charging me 60$ more then what they get reimbursed from my insurance company for what a scam be very wary and look into your insurance as not only was this the first time the Dr and my company went around with this they new before I even came in that they don't take my coverage I don't see the Dr listed as I would also give them a 0 for a rating how dare you rip off your consumers and I have already wrote to my carrier to have them removed as a preferred provider I would give this a zero if I could read more

If I could leave less than one star I would. I don't understand what I did wrong today. I came in with a prescription with the intent to get new frames and lenses. I looked for about three minutes after locating mens frames ( no one acknowledged me) and when I picked a pair up the lady instantly came over and told me to put them back they can't have people stealing frames. I told her that isn't my intention and she said some one had recently stolen frames and I assured her I just wanted to buy glasses and showed her the prescription I had carried. And she said she would have to follow me until I left. I just left and went to Snoqualmie to a different place with better service. My star is based on the customer service I received when I purchased my glasses after my exam. I will say the eye DOCTOR was GREAT! The older women (short blonde/grey hair) that helped was very rude! Asked about my progressive lenses, had I had them before etc., - typical. Then asked what size width I wanted. I said I've not been asked that before, etc. She immediately said "oh! Well! whereever you got your current glasses must not care about your eyes!" Then proceeded to try to sell me their $600+ lenses when I refused those she seemed upset and mumbled something about me getting them changed out if I didn't like them. They never called me when they were in. Unfortunately, she fitted them on me when I picked them up and they didn't fit well. I had to go back for a readjustment. UGH! Terrible - the doctor was overly technical to the point of me asking am questions that could not be answered clearly , relatively poor bedside manners and borderline patronizing. The front office was useless and rude - they did not provide the contact lens prescription on paper. I had to get the doctor to finally put it on. And the sales lady for helping with glasses did not seem interested in helping me with the frames or options for lenses. Very poor service and selection of lenses is also not great. read more

I had an eye exam at Pearl Vision Issaquah and the prescription is completely wrong. Had glasses made at Costco with their prescription and cannot see at all. (Costco checked.) Went back to Pearl Vision and they said I'd have to pay for another exam since it was over 60 days. Terrible. read more

Normally wouldn't leave a review for a doctor's visit or checkup but Dr. Nguyen was so funny, humble and friendly I felt compelled to. It was my first time here and everything from the appointment, to reception and finally to the exam itself was quick and easy. The online appointment had plenty of slots open to accommodate my 9-5. I didn't have my insurance card but I wasn't hounded on that. And after the exam they emailed me a copy of my prescription as well. Overall a very good experience and was in and out in under 30 min, even including the initial registration. I will definitely be referring all my friends to see her. read more

I was in the area and saw that the store has Tiffany's frames and wanted to come and check if they had a model I liked. First thing I head when I entered the store was a store assistant yelling at me that it was closing in 6 min (it was well before the closing time though). I said it's enough time for me to take a look. The lady ran to me shouting that anything I touch needs to be put away and sanitized and nearly threw a tray towards me where I was supposed to put on "anything I touch". I had zero intention to touch or try anything to begin with but guess she knew about my intentions better ‍ Given the times we live in is all understandable, however why one needs to yell at the potential customer who just walked into the store and be so rude!? I would give this place negative stars if I could. I went in with my husband for our annual eye exams. We were taken back into the Dr's office and after explaining that I forgot to bring in my old glasses (which are just for reading) I was then lectured for 30 minutes about it. Rather than just telling me what my eyes are like NOW, the doctor kept harrassing me and made me feel horrible about the whole situation. He then proceeded to give me a prescription that is good for "exactly 4 feet from the computer, not closer, not farther." (his words) I will be calling my insurance carrier as well as the Pearle Vision corporate office to complain about this truly NEGATIVE experience. I have been to alot of eye doctors and Dr. Mai is the only one that has been thorough enough to spot all of my eye issues. This was the first time someone took the time out to show me what different powers would effect how far I could see or how it would make it more comfortable for me. She even looked and explained what glaucoma is and really dumbed it down so I could understand. The staff was nice and helpful. I really got alot more out of this eye doctors visit than I have at any other places and I have been to alot. I will drive from west seattle to Issaquah for this amazing service any day! read more

I have been to this location for an eye exam, once with Dr Nguyen and the other with Dr Baxter. The experiences were night and day. Sadly Dr B is no longer working there probably because she was too kind and thorough making for a little longer visit. She made the whole experience so pleasant such that my 8 yo daughter even wanted to come back for an eye exam the following week!! And she loved her too! Dr Nguyen was unfriendly, cold and I felt as though I was being rushed through my appointment. At the end when she realized my contact prescription needed changing she kept bugging me about having it filled in their shop. I explained that the last time I visited I did that and 1-800 Contacts continues to beat their prices. She seemed irritated. When I was leaving she mentioned it again and when I said "No thank you perhaps another time"she gruffly handed me my prescription and walked off. I don't believe she even said goodbye. Perhaps I caught her on a bad day as the other reviewers seem to be so taken by her. As for myself I will without a doubt go elsewhere for future exams. read more

I realized after a month with my new glasses that something wasn't right. The prescription seemed wrong and they were making me dizzy. I walked in and Boris was happy to help. He re-measured everything regarding how the frames fit on my face and where the lenses were in relation to my eyes. At no charge he sent my frames back to the factory with the updated measurements so they can redo the process. He also cleaned my old glasses and replaced my nose pads on those as well. Could not get it to pan out. I recently came in to see if they could put. Y old prescription in my new frames as the old prescription work. All I got was a lecture from the doctor about how I like the new prescription when she gave it to me. Then the girl behind the counter told me I need to give it at least 2 weeks for my eyes to adjust. Save yourself to issues and go up the road to anyone else. 4 years later and this place is still the best! It's the end of the year and I was lucky to get called after I put myself on the waiting list. The office was remodeled. You're in and out of the exam room quicker while getting a more thorough assessment of your eye's health. After the exam with Dr. Mai Nguyen, the Pearle Vision team helped me as soon as I got out of my eye exam. It's hard for me to make a decision. Also my sense of style isn't that great. But Marjorie was patient and I was happy with the two pairs of frames (RX6363 & RX5285) that Marjorie helped me pick out. I'm going to be using these glasses everyday and I believe in you get what you pay for, so I opted for the top of the line lenses with most of the additions. I bought my glasses here 6 months ago, no protection plan. Three weeks ago I was in a big car crash. The airbag broke my glasses on my face. One lens was in the wreckage and the other, still in my mangled frame on my battered face. I called pearle vision and spoke with Virginia, the manager. She got my prior order ready to send to insurance. Insurance wouldn't cover it. It would come later in the settlement. I found the lens and proceeded to buy new identical frames thinking the lenses weren't too scratched. The beautiful sales associate heard my story, assembled my frames and old lenses and gave me a 30% discount on the frames. Two days later, I found the lenses were just too damaged. I returned and found Virginia ready to help me. I told her who I was. She asked if the insurance was taking care of it. No. She asked if I bought The protection plan. No. Everything is out of pocket. There was no response till she handed me a paper with $0 at the bottom. She said my glasses would be ready in a few days. I asked if I was to pay later. No. You've been through enough. Dr. Nguyen did more for me and my eyes in just one visit than all the optometrist/opticians/ ophthalmologist I have seen my whole life! I have a pretty bad astigmatism and have never been able to obtain a correct contact lens prescription. Dr. Nguyen was not having that! She told me we were going to try a couple different things to get that correct contact lens prescription. Incredibly grateful for her time, patience and flexibility. Complete ripoff compared to a locally owned eye care center. I was charged for a contact lens fitting that didn't occur. Front desk woman wanted nothing to do with my explanation. The doctor literally read the prescription off of my box and counted that as my fitting. Nothing was measured - this was hands down the fastest visit I've ever experienced at an eye center - and I have worn contacts for over 20 years.
