This Islands had quality food and super quality service. Jordan was our server and she was constantly checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed/wanted. We made a mistake when we ordered and she didn't give us any flack or grief for it, she just said "no problem, we will get this the way you want it". She was very personable and genuine. read more

The burgers were ok but my onion rings arrived cold. They did redo them and they were just ok. My kids both had burgers too, and they barely touched theirs. I made the mistake of ordering a whole wheat bun after the waitress ensured they were fresh, and they were just as bad as you remembered them. My son loved his chocolate milk and the coloring pages were nice. We saw two other sports' families with little kids from our team, so it was a fun touch. It made me realize how spoiled our kids are as this just doesn't happen anywhere we take them! The bathrooms weren't very clean, but I suppose this was to be expected for a Friday. I wanted to give this place a 3 for the sake of the kids, but I can't see ever wanting to return here. In N out is so much better and cheaper! I don't remember when I last dined at Islands, but I don't remember it ever being this mediocre and I hope that I don't have to return any time soon with so many better burger places to try in OC. read more

After quality service twice in a row with our guy, Jorge I had to take to the reviews section. He is THE best waiter. He is friendly, accommodating, and goes the extra mile for his customers. He even remembered us, the occasional weeknight drop in. The Hula burger was BACK on the menu, our favorite and the endless tortilla soup is the best on the block. Get yourself some Islands!! ‍ read more

As I went in today to eat dinner with my boyfriend whoever the young lady was I brought my food out which was a tortilla soup. Managed to give me my tortilla soup with a dirty spoon with chocolate stuck on it. It was very deceiving and very disgusting. How can the servers not notice the dirty spoon with chocolate stuck on it. And there is no excuse due to they were not even busy. It was about 8:25 p.m. and it was pretty slow. read more

My friend ordered a sandwich & enjoyed it. I ordered the house side salad & fresh house made fry basket. The fries were anything but fresh. They were either made the day before or had been made hours earlier & warmed up. I love fresh hand made fries. These were a total fail. Fifty percent of them were less than an inch long. Another sign they were not fresh. They were hard. Not any soft one in the basket. They had not been seasoned. By the time waitress came back so I could ask for salt they were all cold. If we come back fresh house made fries will not be ordered. read more

Had the worst experience here today. Usually everything is good and we love coming here but today was horrendous. We come from out of state so we are usually very excited for the opportunity to come back and eat here. We got to the restaurant shortly after 11 thinking we would have a quick lunch and carry on with our day, but finally after 12:30 our food came out and it was far less than par. The breaded chicken on the salad was cold and dry, ingredients missing. The burger was poorly made with the cheese not even melted and the veggies not fresh. The kids meal didn't even come out and the burger was missing fries. Not to mention that another kids meal we had ordered came out by itself 30 minutes earlier. My patience was done for so we just got up and left. Sadly I don't think we'll be returning for quite some time. read more

We visited this place on a night where it wasn't so busy, our server Tiegan wasn't very pleasant to be attended by. Unfortunately she rolled her eyes while taking our order, never checked up on us , and would drop off things at our table but just slamming it on the table as she's walking by. Very unpleasant visit read more

I haven't been to islands in a while because I thought their service was lacking and their food was subpar. But tonight changed my mind. We had a great server named George. He made our experience fantastic he was able to get things for us that we asked for fairly quickly, and sometimes even thought of things we needed before we knew it. Are used to get the fried fish tacos all the time because I loved the tortilla that you guys used to use. Unfortunately it's not the same now but I still liked the fish and the sauce, and the cabbage, my fish was tasty and the sauce was good on it that other ladies at the table got the I believe it's Hawaiian burger and they were really praising the burger. We all enjoyed our time together and it was made even more special with George being our server. read more

I ordered through Uber eats, so I won't hold it against them for my food being cold, even though they are five minutes down the street from my house. However, my burger was raw. My food was inedible, obviously. I did get a bite in before I realized it was raw and everything had hardly any flavor. I won't be eating there again and I won't be using Uber Eats again either! Edit: I just noticed they had a health code violation for not washing hands or using gloves. Now I really want to throw up OMG. read more

I thought I finally found the Island's locations for my family. Our first visit here we had Chayla as our server. Holy moly. She was the BEST server. Super attentive, super happy, great smile, and she just enjoyed doing her job. We were very WOW'd by her and had such a pleasant experience. Unfortunately every visit after that SUCKED and the only thing that would redeem itself is if we had her as the waiter. The food quality seems to be going downhill. Shorebird sandwich - don't get this unless you expect a super flat piece of chicken with some lettuce. Tiki tenders - SO FLAT. SO DRY. Caesar salad - i LOVE caesar salad. You can never go wrong with it but here you can. The salad was not fresh. Very wilted. Not crisp and it was drenched in so much sauce it was a soggy mess. The croutons were rock hard. I couldn't even finish it. The fries - why is it getting so fried and hard? This happened the last 3 times we came here. Not enjoyable. We left with plenty of fries left because no one enjoyed them. Came last night on a Thursday as it was the most horrible experience. We came here thinking we could do a quick dinner with the kids before we go home for bed. NOPE. We ended up being there for 1.5 hour (15 min wait time for table). Server took forever to take our drink order and we were already ready to order once we got seated. The food took SO FREAKING LONG and they decided to give the adults the fries without the sandwiches. It made us start to wonder if they forgot out food. Extremely frustrating when we continued to see them bringing out food for the other tables. Server was not attentive. We didn't even bother to ask him for refills on drinks because that's how long he took. They looked extremely short staff in the kitchen and that can be understandable but there seems to be no acknowledgement at all. Eventually my two kids grew frustrated and impatient. They were tired. It's a school night. Not even enough screentime could help anymore. Took long for him to come to our table to even ask for the check and he saw my frustration, said okay, but yet proceed to another table to take their order and take a long time with that. It was such a bitter experience. The food took so long that by the time it came out we were not hungry anymore. Thumbs down!! Look, I never really write a bad review. I don't want to bring anyone down but this experience yesterday was just outrageous. read more

We've been going to this Islands for over 10 years and there has been a serious decline in food quality recently. First we get sat. I ask for a booth by a window. The waiter/host says no nothing is available. So he sits us right next to an empty booth that was a window seat. I guess leaving it empty is better than actually accommodating us. Okay fine. Next we notice serious price increases and shrink-flation. We ordered wings for an appetizer for $14 and you get exactly 6 wings. Wow okay. Let's say that we just put up with all that citing the economy or whatever but the food quality was inexcusable. It was clear that the kitchen does not take any pride or give a crap about food quality anymore at this location. My Malibu burger came out with no toppings. I sent it back and they just slapped in a bunch of toppings without a care in the world including an entire whole onion. See pic. Does it look like a $17 dollar burger to you? My basket of fries came with a bunch of burnt little ends. No fries that were long than about an inch. It's like they scraped the bottom of the fry pan basket. Again, the kitchen has zero concerns about quality. I felt bad for the waitress because clearly the kitchen or the managers care very little about what they're sending out to the guests. Sadly, we won't be back. The declining service and quality all the while raising prices and decreasing portions is too much for us. Expect to easily spend well over $125 for a party of 4. Too many choices out there in that price range to put up with subpar food and a kitchen that doesn't give a crap. I see now why they keep going out of business. Do your self a favor and retrain your kitchen staff. read more

Incredible dinner at Islands tonight! "Bringin' the Heat" menu is out and we had Watermelon Margaritas and the Heat Wave burger. George was our waiter and he was fantastic! Recommended the heay wave burger with full heat (extra peppers). Also had northshore tacos which are also a group favorite. Dodgers playing on the big screen in the bar, and everyone was having a great time. read more

I would like to first off say the service was very good but the $15 ceaser salad was incredibly small! About the size of a small side salad! I asked for extra lettuce and it looked like they gave me the opposite! For $15 this is huge rip off. How difficult is it to make a decent size salad. This was disheartening and I'm will not be returning! Very disappointed! read more

I've been coming to this Islands for several years and this is the first time ever they have cooked the burger properly. Everytime I order a burger cooked medium... Which is apparently the rarest you can get it, the burger usually comes out well to medium well. Zero pink. So... Today I just said I wasn't it as rare as it can be please and it actually came out cooked to perfection... Medium. The fries were crispy and had the exact amount of ghost pepper seasoning I was looking for... Spicy enough to tantalize the taste nodes, but not so spicy I couldn't taste the food. Excellent. I'm thinking I should purchase some Lotto tickets, because apparently today is my day. Thank you for a pleasant driving experience. read more

I am a frequent guest at this location, normally I sit in and eat with family. I love the service and the food. I have had orders mix up but they are always very tentative to fix for me if it happens (more rare for me) This time I ordered to go. I walked up while someone was going through ticket orders, did not say hi or let me know someone would be with me. Then when she was done she asked how she could help me, she waited so long I didn't even think she would be the person taking my order. Order in, only ordered appetizers (3). There was a table that sat down after my order and they received their appetizers and entrees before I even got my order. During this 45 min - 1 hour wait we did go up and ask where our order was, I appreciated that the server (guy) was honest and the kitchen was backed up and apologized. However, why did my appetizer order come after the dine in guest who ordered after me? So I receive my order without complaint, and the manager came over apologized to me and provided me a gift card. Super great. BUT once I got home I became upset again. I ordered beach side sliders which the description is below, now please help me understand what happen with my sliders pictured next to it? Ketchup, patty, bun. How was this able to leave and be acceptable? It's disappointing. read more

I don't understand why when I go to this Islands I always have to wait 5 or 10 minutes which turn into 15 or 20 when there are rooms and tables empty. If I ask why I get a look like why would I question. I have live in Orange for 27 years and have had dinner there with my wife after golf on almost every Tuesday. This waiting started about 6 weeks ago and after the 3rd time I stop going to Islands. I used to think it was really good, but the waiting sucks. Richard read more

Solid choice for hamburgers and ginormous nachos Islands is the way to go if it is time for a higher end burger than In N Out can deliver. I always get the Kilauea which is kind of "blackened" style cooked in spices. It comes with tasty shoestring onions which make it the perfect combo for that satisfying burger bite. Recently my mother-in-law treated us to dinner here and it was solid as always. The service was a bit off. We were brought our fries first which confused us about if we had ordered a side of fries. The price was a bit high (thanks mom!). My mother-in-law had the nachos and added chicken. It was ginormous. I think it would be a great sharing option on a budget with some drinks. As things stand, we only got mom a glass of wine here and skipped the cocktails in favor of grabbing a few brewskies from the grocery store on the way home. It is sometimes worth it for the high quality burgers but is not a budget establishment. read more

Service has gone severely downhill and prices are unreasonably high. Used to be a go to for burgers. This location is average at best

We often forget about Islands. The we remember and will hit it up several times. Weekdays they are usually not too busy in the evenings. The weekends can be a bit hectic. Staff tends to be on the young side, but they are always friendly and attentive. All the burgers I have tried have been good. Wife usually gets a salad or fish tacos. It can get a little loud in there, but not much you can do about it. Worth the visit. read more

The food was great, but the service was horrible. The server was weird from the beginning, and hardly checked on us. We needed refills the whole time, but she never came back until we were done with our food. The frustrating part was she kept servicing another table and going back and forth and helping them with a smile on her face. We were 2-3 tables away from that table. I know we aren't the typical family you would find in Orange, Ca but we were at the Discovery Cube all day and just wanted to stop for dinner. We will take our business elsewhere next time. No thanks. read more

Food is ok. Not great. A bit expensive but taste is ok. Service is horrendous. After she took our order we didn't see the waitress again. Had to go looking for someone to refill drinks and refillable items that we had ordered. I was told by the (2) giggling, teenage hostesses that our waitress was busy because she is also the bartender. But I call BS on that because for 20 solid minutes she was nowhere to be found. Including behind the bar. I suspect she was on a break. We expect more. Mismanagement from the top down. Islands on Tustin sucks and is no longer an option for us. Try Brea or Fullerton. read more

The food was exceptionally good as I got the maui burger. It had a nice malty cheese that was pleasing, plus creamy avocado. Their service was also excellent too, our waiter was nice and had excellent manners. He was extremely friendly with everyone and not just us, and showed a sense of enjoyment in his job. Furthermore, the ambiance was actually astounding. The overall surf theme really put the name to the test and even had surf channels on some tvs. read more

She apologized before saying this location was unfortunately understaffed and wait times were a little longer than normal, but she could of had us fooled. My experience at Islands Restaurant was nothing above average. For starters, we were forced to wait at an empty host stand. This would be okay if the restaurant was not completely empty. Then we were brought to our table where we were greeted by our waitress Alex. Alex seemed very unenthusiastic to be serving us. Our food was just mediocre, and my chicken came out incredibly plastic like. When looking to pay, we waited over 15 minutes for Alex to take our check. Overall, incredibly unimpressed. read more

Good large burgers here! I usually get the Hawaiian Burger ($7.79) on a toasted wheat bun (a veggie pattie can be substituted) served in a basket with fork & knife. On the down side, everything here is ala carte so a basket of fries are an extra $3.29. For those counting calories, a garden salad is $1.99 with any entree. Things begin to add up. Other menu offerings include appetizers, entree salads, tortilla soup, soft tacos (fish, chicken, pork), large sandwiches, low carb platters, shakes, smoothies, bar drinks, soft drinks, and desserts. Cool atmosphere. The tropical decorated interior is dimly lit with overhead lamps at each table, lots of plants, fake tropical birds, surfboard, straw pattern umbrellas, Hawaii & surf pictures, art, and TVs showing surfing throughout the restaurant & at the straw hut bar area. The place can get really crazy during dinner time and happy hour (Monday-Friday between 4-7). Happy hour specials in the bar area only offer free chips & salsa, half off all appetizers, and $1.00 off beer & wine. read more

We stopped to eat at Islands Restaurant on 550 North Tustin Street in Orange, CA. This is the third Islands we have eaten at. Steve the nice manager allowed me to take some photos. Brandon our server was super nice and friendly which made it easier to make changes on ordering. Appetizer: I ordered: Spinach Artichoke Dip with side; large guacamole with some salsa. The chips were fresh, crispy, and very tasty. Diana and I loved the spinach artichoke dip. Entrée: I ordered: Hawaiian Burger; teriyaki sauce, pineapple, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion & mayo. side; onion rings. All was cooked to order, fresh and tasty. I drank a Diet Coke with my meal. Diana ordered; Jungle Caesar Salad; grilled chicken breast, mandarin oranges, snow peas, water chestnuts, carrots, fried noodles, sesame seeds, scallions & mixed greens tossed with sesame dressing. fresh and very tasty. Diana drank a Diet Coke with her meal. Dessert: I ordered: Kona Pie; mocha almond fudge ice cream, cookie crust, topped with; white chocolate fudge, whipped cream, roasted almonds and a cherry. it was so delicious. Clean fun environment with a touch of that island tropical feel. What I like about Islands is they're not blasting the tropical music like Rain Forest. You can catch some surfing on TVs and you can check out some cute decor so it does feel like a little escape from reality. We had a pretty good experience the only down side was when we were seated, we were not aware that the bar had a separate menu. My husband and I wanted the white queso chips and salad. They told us we couldn't have it unless we sat in the bar. That kinda surprised us since it's one kitchen in the restaurant, so we were surprised it mattered. So we were given salsa n chips .. which clearly had store bought jar salad. So that bummed us out. So I gave 3 stars because of this. Our meal was great tho, I ordered the birds of paradise on wheat bread with a side of chicken tortilla soup. My husband ordered endless bowl of tortilla chicken soup. I also got a virgin lava flow drink and my husband a moscow mule drink. Everything was delicious. Soo let's just fix that bar food issue Islands! July 7 about 1 PM we walked up the host, and he just stood there. No hello, he did not ask table for how many people. We asked for a table for three and he took a while to look over the seating chart. The restaurant was basically emptied. Islands has new menus and increased prices are sky high and not worth the money for their food. We waited 10 minutes for the server, and she finally showed up. As we sat there, we looked around the restaurant and it was emptied, except for two people sitting at the bar. Asked the server for three cokes and it took over 15 minutes for her to return with them. Placed our orders for two hamburgers, two fries and an order of nachos and waited 20 minutes for our order. No fries were delivered after the 20 minutes wait. Nachos were lukewarm. Small amount of tortilla chips, some of the edges of chips were blacken and some were brown. Cheese was chunked in middle of chips and hard to pull apart. By the time the chips were pulled apart the chips were COLD. Did not eat the chips and the server wanted to know if I wanted a box. Informed server the chips belonged in the trash. WORST NACHOS EVER FOR AN OUTRAGEOUS PRICE! As we waited for the two orders of fries two people came to our table to let us know fries will be out shortly. It took over 25 minutes to receive the fries and they were COLD. I took the bowls of fries and looked for a server, could not locate one and went to the bar and asked for hot fries. As we waited for the fries one person finished eating their hamburger and the other person was three-fourths finished with their hamburger. With the outrageous prices, no friendly host, DISGUSTING NACHOS, cold food and poor service we do not plan on ever eating at Islands again. read more
