My husband was driving a van to pick up and close out our unit. The gate was open, so he drove in. She chased us down in her golf cart, to inform us that we had violated the rules and should've entered our code. We apologized and proceeded to empty our the few things in our unit. When I asked the procedure for closing out the unit, she fired a bunch of questions at me, to see if I had gone through the proper steps. I told her I didn't know the procedure as we just decided to close out the unit that day. That's why I was asking what the procedure was. She made us stop what we were doing and go put in the code for the gate. Then she said to stop in the office on our way out. She never explained the procedure. She informed us that it's all in the contract and again was unbelievably rude. We signed the paperwork and couldn't get out of there fast enough!!

He lowered my rent substantially and told me so during that phone call. He was very nice and this really was a blessing because I don't have anyone to help me move my stuff out and I'm almost 70 years old is that alone it's worth the top star rating in my book. Just last week Rich called to see if my husband lost a set of keys because he found some on the lot. They were in the same row as our unit and he hadn't seen anyone else in that same area. In the deep recesses of a dark storage room came a bright light. I seriously thought it might be an angel or ghost . An angel was the correct answer. Natalie ensured I could get set up easily, offered to help, and told me she'd be around if I needed anything. The difference was that it wasn't that usual fake, "I have to do this" kind of thing. She didn't know that I was having a rough day and in those few moments, she completely turned it around. I'm not so annoyed with having to store things now !

If I could move my stuff out any faster, I would. I have rented a unit here for about 5 years now…read moreand easily twice a year iStorage has raised the price. In comparison I have another unit, larger, at a competing storage facility 1 mile down the street and in the 10+ years that I've been there, I have only had one or two price increases. It was upon this last price increase that I realized I was now paying over $200 a month for a 10x15 ft unit. When I go to iStorage.com to seek out new prices, they have my same unit advertised for $138 a month. It's not an introductory rate it's the standard rate. So I am essentially paying 50% more for being a long-term customer. Makes perfect sense right? So I opted to call in and talk to customer service. Nobody could help me but they told me that they would have the site manager reach out to me. We never connected successfully. Every time I tried to call back I was routed to a voicemail. So I called customer service again, and again they dispatched a call to the site manager. That call happened a couple of days later where we had a conversation about prices, and the woman told me she would contact me back with anything she could do. She never contacted me back. So I guess in the eyes of iStorage, short-term customers are key because they don't really care about keeping the long-term ones. And since I'm on my way out, I can also include in this review, all of the times that I went to my storage unit early in the morning only to find somebody sleeping in their van outside the unit next to mine. One wonderful summer day I arrived to the smell of human urine at the front of my unit. This is not a one-time occurrence and oftentimes you can stroll through early in the morning and see people camped out. If somebody from management would like to reach out from me and complete the conversation that we began, I would be more than happy to reevaluate my review but as it stands now I am diligently working to empty out my unit and cannot wait to be done with my business with iStorage.

For a small space, all I needed, it was only $20/mo. Not only that but the lady I dealt with at the front desk couldn't have been nicer. They are low tech, be aware, to keep down the costs. They don't take credit cards and you can't pay online. So I just mail them a $20 bill every month with a SASE envelope so they can mail me a receipt and I have never had a problem. FBS was also the most inexpensive of the locations we researched, yet never seemed to sacrifice appearance or customer service. Several benefits of FBS include: - Very clean facility with attractive coloring. Their overall branding is quite pretty and well manicured. I think that says a lot about the attention to detail by management. -Easy access. I can usually swing by to drop off boxes during a lunch break. Because it's an outdoor facility, there are no elevators to navigate. -Price. FBS is clearly one of the most competitive in the area in terms of pricing. I feel comfortable driving on property with my personal pass-code. Also, the manager (Dean) actually *lives* on premises. His apartment is connected to the main office. When you put down your deposit, they also give you a free padlock. So far, we've been using FBS for about two months and no complaints from us!
