Starting off with first impressions, I came on a Friday morning right when they opened, so I didn't have to deal with parking issues or crowds. The girls at the front desk were super sweet and gave me the rundown about the spa's layout and etiquette. Check-in was super simple. You walk in, ask for a day pass, make reservations for additional services if you want (I recommend reserving at least a week earlier to get your preferred time), and they give you your wristband and lounge attire/towel. The women's locker rooms and bath area were pretty clean and very spacious. You don't need to bring very many toiletries, as they have large dispensers of lotion in the locker room area and shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower area. They have hair dryers for use and lots of outlets in the vanity area in case you want to bring other styling tools of your own. I started off with a 30 min Quick Fix Facial and was serviced by Ellie (10/10 recommend). It was super relaxing and we made small talk about skincare based on my concerns. She was super nice and very professional. After I left my skin was glowing! I then headed to the juice bar and got an iced matcha latte (also super good) and relaxed by the lounge area with my laptop before I had my next service. It wasn't too loud, and there's free wifi, so you can get some work done, watch a show, or read a little. Keep in mind the lounge area is an open space connected with the juice bar and food court, so it's not library quiet. That being said, people aren't yelling, and nobody was playing their online media out loud, so it's easy to tune out all the white noise. I then got a 30 min Swedish Massage by Andy, which was more than satisfactory. I was worried about the massage being too rough, but he did everything just right. Only during a few second-long periods did it feel a bit heavier, but I knew he was working out a knot. Even then, it was not bad, and I was glad to know he was being thorough. For lunch, I got a shrimp tempura roll and miso soup, and both were tasty and fresh. I loved the complimentary yoga class, which happens daily from 2-3 PM. Regarding the bathhouse, it's listed on their website that you have to be nude, and plenty of people have talked about that, so I won't bore you with those details. That being said, the varying temperatures are nice, so you can choose based on your comfort. The showers are in the same bath area and are open, just to note, but nobody is really looking at you. You get comfortable pretty quickly once you realize nobody cares and there's a lot of body positivity. Overall, I had a lovely experience. The staff are friendly and help you feel comfortable, and there are plenty of things to do. Definitely recommend staying the whole day. If you want to enjoy all the amenities but are a little wary about the nudity, I suggest coming early when there's less people, and it feels a little more private. I was slightly hesitant to visit the spa based on the mixed reviews I saw online, but ultimately decided to give it a chance. I've been here before, but realized I have never reviewed it. It's definitely an experience. You can pay for a spa pass which includes the various saunas, pool, hot tub, and singular ice sauna. Upstairs there are extra services such as massages, facials, scrubs, reflexology, etc. for an additional fee per service. They also have a dining area where you can purchase lunch/dinner as well. Upon arrival/check in you will pay for your day pass/services and then you are given a numbered key. The key will open a numbered locker to your left where you store your shoes only. Then, you walk barefoot or with socks on to the men's/women's changing rooms. Once in the changing room, you will look for your numbered locker which the same key fits, to store your street clothes, so that you can put on the uniform. The change room is massive and has bathrooms, showers, and the entrance to the pool. ***You are not allowed to wear clothing in the pool, not even a bathing suit, just FYI. However, if you're daring enough to enjoy the pool in the buff, the men's and women's pools are separate and walled off. So it's not coed at all, if that's a concern. I consider myself pretty cultured, but this is one thing that I was surprised about the 1st time I visited and not comfortable with, so I have never partaken in the pool. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday because he knew I really needed to relax with how hectic my schedule and life have been lately -- and honestly, it was exactly what I needed. I loved everything about this place. The saunas were amazing, and the food was really good too. The bathhouse area does require you to be nude, and I'll admit I was shy at first, but after a few minutes, I realized no one cares -- everyone's just there to unwind. First, they raised the prices recently to $50 for a daily entrance fee it was $35 recently... They have many saunas& an ice room which is cold but feels like a very strong air conditioner but has a calming light and feel to it; the clay sauna, charcoal sauna, salt sauna, treasure (has some precious stones on the wall); the hottest one is 165 degrees. They also have "baths" & one is a warm gucuzzi, one a hot bath, one a shower bath, and the other I didn't get too see; the steam room was closed for cleaning while I was there and the Yoni steam is no longer operating. The thing is for any of the baths or steam rooms you have to be completely nude (separated male from female). I was very uncomfortable and felt kind of grossed out by it as there were several women in one bath... luckily there are open showers with soap , shampoo and conditioner. Plenty of towels for use. If you are free and open to that you may enjoy your time there. When you first walk in you'll notice it smells great there, looks calming, then they hand you a long shorts and big shirt (run big); and a key for the lockers. You have to take off your shoes and they do not provide slippers unless you buy a pair of cheap slippers for $4. I'll say for a hospitality company the service was not good. Then you have to go change into the uniform which wasn't particularly comfortable or uncomfortable- but I'd like to be in a more cozy outfit when relaxing. I am thinking a robe ... that should be a stable for a spa? You can spend maybe an hour or two there experiencing the saunas. They have a yoga class once a day from 2-3 I got there too late for that. I enjoyed the saunas but they were not as hot as I like. Then I tried to do the baths but really couldn't take it for more than two minutes- the shower was nice. They do not provide a comb or brush or face masks (you should bring some of your own as they sell them there. They do provide towels, lotion, Q tips, toothpaste and toothbrush. The snacks and food seem like a good time but I only got a fresh juice, Sunset Detox, (carrot apple lemon) for $10.00 which was really good and good size. There are plenty of places to lounge and relax including a sleeping room but I noticed people talking in there. I did not book a service in advance and none were available until much later and so I may have enjoyed it more with a service- but you'd be paying the entrance fee plus the service fee keep in mind. I go to a gym with a dry sauna, steam room and gucuzzi plus a pool , yoga and more for $45/month- I'd recommend going to a health club or something similar with these amenities for less money and more hospitality. Seems like plenty it so if you go bring: 1. Hair brush 2. Hair products 3. Deodorant 4. Face masks 5. Thick snug socks 6. Id try to bring slides and see if they let you slide 7. Water bottle for the fill stations 8. FYI: They have the uniform, don't bring swim wear you won't be allowed to use it, they have toothpaste and toothbrush, shampoo and conditioner lotion and Q tips. Then you'll head into the locker rooms where you enjoy the jacuzzis and saunas. They had 4 pools, a steam sauna and a dry sauna. My favorite was the steam sauna with temperatures averaging about 115 ish. It's so good for your skin. After enjoying the pools you can enjoy a body scrub. On this day I got a 30 minute session and it was wonderful. I highly recommend calling and booking ahead of time because these fill up quickly. Post sauna and pool session you can enjoy their common area. There's lots of heated and non heated rooms and lounging areas. It was pretty busy this day so it was hard to find a spot but I just know on a typical day this place will have you taking the best nap of your life. We were so relaxed. You can also enjoy food from their restaurant and juice bar. They have a lot of great options and in my opinion Everything was delicious especially the bibimbap. Can I live here? I love coming to island spa because I can just be here all day. I like to start my day early with a smoothie from the juice bar. I love the green machine and sunrise bliss. There's so much for me to do, while working and relaxing. I liked the aromatherapy massage, but the foot massage was a real treat. Island Spa is a gem of an American take on a traditional spa that reminded me of the bathhouses I visited in Korea and Japan. They make it clear with their messaging on the website and posters outside the building that this is a social experience but it remained relaxing--unlike places like Spa Castle where people are drinking and kids run amok. If you're coming for some kind of American spa experience where the goal is silent luxurious wellness, this isn't the spot for you though. A group of 4 of us came at 10 am on the Sunday before MLK Day and it was surprisingly low key with zero wait to get in, get some smoothies to enjoy while relaxing in the spacious lounge area on comfy couches, and head into the many saunas in the coed area. We appreciated that talking wasn't allowed in the saunas to keep the zen mood but almost every sauna we entered quickly cleared out for just our small group to chat when we were alone. The cafe food was delicious and appropriately priced. There were a couple of issues with the food not coming out precisely as ordered but they were quickly resolved. One person in our party got a massage that she enjoyed immensely. The baths and steam rooms were more crowded by the time we got there after lunch (the entire place had gotten busier and busier as time went on), so we did have to wait a few times for the bath we wanted, but it wasn't a super long wait. My biggest complaint is that certain patrons put their stuff on one of the four available lounge chairs in the bath area so that they weren't usable for their intended purpose of a quick 5-min rest between baths by the rest of us. But this isn't Island Spa's fault. Just be mindful yourself! Highly recommend bringing: your own socks for walking around in the coed space, a large water bottle to refill at the water stations, a cooler with some cold drinks and fruit to enjoy (seltzers, juice, and mandarin oranges really hit the spot between/after warm baths), face masks, scrubs, scrubbing mitts (which are also available for purchase $3), and if you're coming solo a book to pass the time. We missed out on the daily yoga 2-3 pm and people were turned away because there was no space, but I will definitely stake claim on a spot a little early next time I'm there, which is sure to be soon. Cleanliness was top notch, staff were very kind, uniforms were comfy, and everything was very seamless and easy. I can't think of anything that needed improvement! p.s. The complimentary admission with gift card expires in 6 months. Make sure you take advantage of this perk before the expiration. Monday- Friday admission fee is $45, weekends $55. We booked deep muscle couple massages. You are asked to arrive 45 minutes before your first appointment. We arrived and were given a wrist badge with locker key, uniform- shorts & shirt and towel. Wrist badge had a number and that's how you could charge items while you were at the spa. No need to carry credit cards or cash. No shoes! Lockers at entrance for shoes! There are separate men's and women's locker room, baths & scrub lounges. My daughter mentioned you might see people in the nude. I said I am okay with that! Well! Being in the buff was the only way to use the saunas, baths and showers in this area! Took me a bit to get the courage but I did it!! Baths were very relaxing! You need to schedule appointments for the scrubs- available in 30 or 60 minutes. Then we headed to the main area where you must wear your uniform. Beautiful and peaceful environment! Loved the deep tissue massage! You can book additional sessions once you are there. I booked the head and neck massage. Very relaxing! Enjoyed lunched and affogato. Restaurant and juice bar on site! We didn't have trouble finding a seat to relax outside the sauna rooms. My wife and I visited Island Spa & Sauna on February 22, 2026, expecting to spend the entire day relaxing. We knew there was a local snow storm happening in the area, which was on the news for a week about the coming storm. So before leaving, we checked the website to make sure there were no schedule changes. There was no indication that the spa would be closing early. When we arrived around 10:30 AM, no one at the front desk mentioned any early closure. We paid $130 for two admissions and spent an additional $85 on food, fully expecting a full-day experience. Later in the afternoon, we were informed that the spa would be closing early due to the snowstorm. While we understood the situation and safety concerns, it was disappointing that there had been no advance notice. Since we paid for full-day admission, we expected to stay until normal closing hours or receive some form of accommodation for the shortened visit. I also noticed several families of five who had paid for full-day passes, which would have cost them over $325, and they were visibly upset about the early closure. It was clear that while customers were being charged for the full day, employees were not being paid for the full hours because of an early closure, which felt unfair and poorly handled. When we went to the front desk, we politely asked if there could be any type of partial credit or discount since we did not receive the full day we paid for. The front desk representative contacted the manager, Sidney, an Asian gentleman, who stated there was nothing he could do. He asked what time we arrived, and when I told him about 10:30 AM, he stated that we had already spent a sufficient amount of time there(very unprofessional response). However, that was not the point, we paid for admission until closing time and should have been compensated in some way. I asked if there was someone higher up I could speak with, but I was told he could not provide any contact information. Instead, he said he would take my email and someone would reach out to me. I agreed and decided to wait for a response. Unfortunately, the situation became worse because of the behavior of a front desk employee named CYNTHIA. CYNTHIA, an African American employee at the front desk, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and wearing glasses, inserted herself into the conversation while I was speaking with the manager, even though I was already addressing the issue with him. When I explained that I was speaking with the manager, she reacted in an unprofessional manner by laughing and smirking. When I told her that her behavior was rude, she continued to smirk, which made the situation even more upsetting. I then asked her to confirm that she had taken my contact information correctly and to read it back to me. Instead of doing this respectfully, she loudly repeated my personal information in the open lobby in an arrogant matter. This was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. I asked the manager to address her behavior, and he said they would speak with her. I have been coming here for years, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Closing early without prior notice(when we checked in, after they took my money) and offering no accommodation is frustrating, but the unprofessional behavior from the front desk made the situation much worse. Management should review the recordings from that day and see how this situation was handled. Customers who were affected by the early closure should be considered for some type of compensation. Debated to give 4 stars because of misleading pricing for the ice cream, and some weird towel policies, but I ultimately decided to give a 5 because I still had an awesome time and things were reasonably priced. First time back after years. The place is clean, and the baths and saunas are so relaxing. I love the chill vibe in the main area where people are reading or even napping. The cafeteria was decently priced; I'm a big fan of the fried chicken wings. Rice on the side was only $1 so I got it, but I could've sworn it was included years ago! Regarding the misleading pricing for the ice cream, I got one scoop of green tea ice cream for $3. Not bad! The cashier asked if I wanted any toppings and listed them when I asked which are available, and I added some of them on. They were not posted on the menu. When she rung them up, I saw no additional cost listed on the register for each topping. But when it was time to check out, the total was higher than expected, and turns out EACH topping I added was an extra 50 cents. It's just 50 cents each at the end of the day, that's typical for a topping, but it's more so the principle behind it and how it's misleading that it's all extra. Regarding the towel policy, someone took mine while I was in one of the baths. I went inside and informed someone. They did give me a replacement but said next time it'll be 50 cents. I think this is a kinda weird policy given it's just a towel, so just keep an eye on yours I guess. Nonetheless, I had a good time and will be back. read more

Pretty solid experience at Island Spa. I went on a holiday I had off on a Monday afternoon and it wasn't too packed but a good amount of people. We had to check in and we were given a key to put our shoes away and also opens the separate locker for our clothes. They do require you to wear uniforms which isn't so preferred. I would prefer the standard swimsuit and robe. The uniforms are stiff and sizing isn't perfect. Aside from that the place was really clean and spacious. They have a lot of amenities and lounging areas. The main space had all the saunas, cafe, and a big area with chairs and couches where people were using their phone/laptop or resting. I liked the multiple saunas. They list the temperature outside. Everyone was respectful and mindful of one another. They also have an ice room with the temperature listed outside too. It was very relaxing. I also saw that they have yoga sessions at 2-3 daily? I forgot the exact info but we saw it too late but it's a nice edition! A big portion of the space is dedicated to the bathhouses. They have 4 different tubs and 1 is a cold plunge. You have to shower before you go into the tubs. They also have steam rooms but it was too much for me. Note you do have to be completely nude. Again, everyone was mindful and respectful. You cannot have your phones there. It was very calming. Aside from the public amenities we both booked massages in advance. I'd advise you to do so because they get booked up! I did the chair massage and foot massage. The chair massage was a bit rough. He did have a heavy hand and I wish he immediately asked if I prefer a softer massage. I loved the foot massage! I was able to be next to my girlfriend because we booked them around the same time. She did the deep tissue massage and loved it. We both felt very relaxed and glad we started the day there. They also have Korean food and beverages that they charge to the card you provided at check in. They scan the bracelet you used to access lockers. Cool! We just had the strawberry banana smoothie and it was a big size. Good enough for the 2 of us. It's definitely a place you can spend all day at. I'd be back and try other massages. read more

If you need some R&R or just getaway from the hustle and bustle of your everyday routine - this is the place you can hide out to. Located in Edison, where every other Asian food spots are, you can spend a few hours or even all day here. There is an entrance fee which is very reasonable especially if you're looking to spend a few hours here. The fee covers the common area which has the saunas, lounge areas, workspaces, sleeping rooms, etc. Inside they have a cafe and also a kitchen space where you can enjoy some Korean dishes. They offer the typical spa services for reservations so make sure you check them out ahead of them and book them accordingly to maximize your time spent here. Also, take note, there are separate women and men locker rooms which offer showers, hot tubs, and plunge pools. These areas have a no clothing policy so just be aware of that if you're sensitive to that set up or if this is your first time visiting the facility. In the common areas you are given a branded attire to wear around, however, in the locker rooms and when using all the wet facilities, no clothes are required. Ahh-MAZING ‍ This place was absolutely amazing--exactly what I needed! I could easily spend all day here. The general co-ed area is incredibly relaxing, with a beautiful fish tank and a large screen displaying calming ocean scenes. The bathhouse is separated by gender, and you must be completely naked to enter. It has three different pools, a sauna, and showers to cleanse your body and hair before you leave. The locker rooms are bright and spacious, with large mirrors and thoughtful personal items like q-tips, hair ties, and hairspray to help refresh you. Face masks are available for purchase at affordable prices, starting at $3 and going up to $7-8. The juice bar serves smoothies and desserts, while the mini café offers small bites like sushi. The atmosphere is so chill in the co-ed area--people were lounging, taking naps, or quietly working on laptops. There are several reclining chairs outside the saunas, which include a charcoal and clay warm room and a cold sauna for those who want something different. There are also additional services beyond the saunas and bathhouse. When it's your turn for something, a staff member will come to get you, so you don't need to worry about tracking time. Upon entering, shoes are removed, and you're given a uniform for the common/co-ed areas. Overall, this place is a must-try! I will definitely be returning. read more
