Pretty disappointed! I got the chorizo skillet-it was burnt underneath and I think instead of chorizo they made it with ground turkey because it was so bland and tasteless. My daughters waffles were rubbery and couldn't be cut with a knife, daughters French toast were thin and flat, mom's western omelette-tasteless. No one thought their food was good! read more

This place is great. In a town where most of the food is overpriced and underwhelming, this place has reasonable prices, large portions, great food and great service. I've only had breakfast there but it was excellent on multiple occasions. read more

We asked around about where to eat breakfast, and the Island Skillet was always mentioned, so we showed up on a Monday--closed Mondays and Tuesdays, although their Yelp site says open. Tried again and frankly I was kinda disappointed. The spinach in my omelette was uncooked when it could have been gently sautéed. Toast was so-so, coffee a little weak. read more

We had a wonderful breakfast here today. The food was very tasty and the portions were unbelievably generous. The menu was very extensive but from the quality of the food it was obvious that everything was prepared from scratch. For the quality and quantity of the portions the prices were very reasonable. Service was very good. I recommend without reservations read more

Great breakfast place with all the traditional menu items. Chorizo scramble my favorite. Nice selection of hot sauce in the rack. Not fancy but it's open for breakfast and lunch when others are not. read more

Great food, apathetic service... From the moment we walked in we felt like an inconvenience to the entire FOH staff, no coffee refills without asking, empty water glasses, server took our order with less than 3 words (thank you not inc.), no thank you for coming in, no hi how are yous...Having been 30 years in restaurants slingin hash to steaks, I go out of my way to engage with with restaurant peeps, and my sweet wife can make almost anyone smile! Nuthin doin from these carpet walkers... I get that you all are most likely recovering from Saturdays excess and would rather be drinking bloody mary's, but you are in the restaurant business folks...or is it you are offended by all the tourists and our happy wide eyed wonderment at this lovely little Islands beauty invading YOUR island? Again, you might be in the wrong line of work or need a little carrier counseling folks... Happiest peeps were in the kitchen rocking out the food, and when they came out on the floor and got a smile from us, we got a giant smile and a wave in return! Carpet Walkers, please take note of your comrade in arms... read more

This was the best breakfast we had on Orcas by far! The prices were good, the restaurant clean and cute, the service quick and friendly. The waffle, bacon, and farmer's omelette were all delicious! read more

We stood around for 20 minutes without anyone doing so much as acknowledging us, and then once we were seated, sat for another 15 minutes without anyone even stopping by or taking our drink order. Very unorganized - I was very disappointed with how this business is being run. read more

Great service, food was delicious. I had the huevos rancheros with chorizo and it was to die for! Coffee was great! The restaurant was cheaper than most restaurants which was great since I'm a student. Definitely a must go on orcas. read more

Great yummy food at an affordable price. Really appreciated being able to stop in for lunch after swimming and get a sandwich and a beer for what I would spend at home. Super friendly service too. read more

The most amazing western omelet, and the coffee was heavenly. We'll definitely be back tomorrow!

Good simple breakfast food. Very fair prices especially for "island prices." Nice staff, missed most of the morning rush, but they were still upbeat and great. read more

Great place! I had the Chef's omelette made with bacon, tomatoes, cream cheese and basil. Yummy!! Nice quaint place and reasonable prices.

Service was terrific! They were on top of our coffee, water, etc. But firstly, they greeted us so well even though we were a walk in party of 11-unlike a neighboring establishment! I was sincerely surprised at how quickly they could seat us and that the server was there to get our orders! The food was so good and large servings, but not too much. We all agreed we would go again. read more

Hash browns are awesome. I had the Swiss skillet and it was huge. Wait staff was friendly and happy. Good price for the gigantic portion

This place should be your first stop while on Orcas Island!!!! Gorgeous Chef's omelette with hash browns, delicious chorizo scramble skillet. But be aware - meal sizes are huuuuge read more

Accommodating staff, simple but freshly made breakfast, large portions, great value. Would come back

Great food at Very reasonable prices. We were so impressed that we ate here twice during our two day visit, and both times the food was yummy, the portions were large, and the staff was extremely friendly. read more

This was the last restaurant of our visit and we were all looking forward to a filling and tasty breakfast before heading home! So wish we had eaten a light snack before going here rather than leaving room for our last vacation meal! I regret not getting up and leaving after our 1 hour wait and first greeting after being seated for another 20 minute wait. Our server, who unfortunately is also the owner, so this establishment will not change its philosophy on what the customer experience should look like. Everyone in our party is or has been in the industry and have navigated through COVID just as this owner has. Closed doors, loss of hours, loss of wages, and 8 or more hour shifts wearing a mask while doing twice the amount of work trying to hear customers and follow all sanitation standards. We are very aware of the losses and difficulties the hospitality industry has endured. On that note, once the island was in phase 2 we were anxious to have a get away for a special 50th birthday celebration. Fully prepared for social distancing standards and waits. The owner immediately accused our group as too insensitive to even read the many "posted" signs that urged nonessential travel to Orcas island. His most common phrase that he repeated was to just be patient! As we had not even had a chance to prove we were in need of that advice I hope the owner will repeat that mantra to himself daily. I will say that this restaurant is most definitely not essential to meeting your dining needs. The food is not good and tastes especially crappy when you know the owner has the need to take out their frustrations on unsuspecting guests. Take your business elsewhere. There were several other places we went to where we were served graciously by staff. read more

Best valued breakfast we found on the island! The skillets or burritos can easily fill two people. The food was simply delicious and the ambiance was very welcoming. read more

Great breakfast menu, which is what they serve best, as recommended by local friends. Came for lunch during a busy summer Saturday, so the 10-minute wait for a table and somewhat slow service was understandable. But casual and relaxed is also Orcas Island's feel; if in a real rush, frankly, The Skillet won't suit that. Ordered the lox and cream cheese omelette ($10), which came with sautéed mushrooms, peppers, onions, potatoes. Generously portioned, fresh ingredients that are made to order (so slow service is forgiven!). Coffee was refilled promptly. Friendly wait staff. It's housed in an older, well-crafted cottage on Prune Alley in Eastsound, fun little strip in this part of the island. I'd definitely grab another bite at The Skillet when on Orcas. read more

Had to leave because of waiter, or host who was not happy we were there... So 3 of us just rode our bikes around orcas island and were trying to find a place to eat. Now, I know the cliche perception that cyclists are jerks walking around in lycra, but I honestly try to respect others on the roads and not prance around with that elitist mentality. We showed up and parked our bikes. The waiter came out and asked us to move our bikes 5 feet from where they were. Weird, but we did with smiles. We then walked into the restaurant and he rushed over and told us we cant walk in the restaurant with those shoes on. Not politely, but in way that he was annoyed with us. (Even though we were wearing shoes with recessed cleats that would not hurt the floor anymore than an high heel). He said he would find us a place outside. We waited outside, and just ended up leaving because we just didn't feel like it was worth it. I understand his concern with our bikes and shoes, but the way he talked to us was pretty degrading and prejudice. read more

Nice visit. Good food and friendly service. Huevos were good. Great coffee. Really good with kids. Also price wise very good. Thanks Island Skillet very enjoyable! read more

Greasy spoon type of breakfast spot right in Eastsound. Good choice for us on a drizzly February morning for breakfast. Coffee was great; I think we both had at least four cups! My husband ordered the Western omelet and I had the Farmers (vegetarian). They remade my husband's omelet when they noticed the cheese hadn't melted upon delivery to our table; solid service. Overall, good menu selection and friendly staff. read more

The owner (the guy taking names with braces) is about as rude as can be. We were there on the Friday of the 4th of July and had 5 people. We waiting to be seated for more than 45 minutes. When I inquired as to why he would seat 2 adults and 2 small children at a table for 6 people he became extremely rude. Said that he's been doing this for 4 years and if I wanted to discuss his seating business practices after work he would be glad too. Well we all agreed to simply walk across the street for breakfast and enjoy a restaurant who was more than happy to accommodate 5 people immediately and treat us like we mattered. I previously ate there on another trip and the food was adequate. read more

Service is very friendly here whether you're a tourist or a local, which I like. I had one of their scrambles which I wasn't a huge fan of, but not because it wasn't good but because I should have picked something else. My husband's breakfast burrito was very good, though and he enjoyed that. read more

Today it is a warm sunny Friday afternoon around noon. Visiting the island, wanting a Milk Shake but told they start serving Milk Shakes at 5pm.. Seriously.. I didn't know Milk Shakes were a appetizer to dinner. Bad for business read more

Salmon Caesar was very good, staff was friendly and attentive and the wait was minimal.

Had an incredibly rude experience with a server over Labor Day weekend. I walked into the entryway with my dog, intending to wait there while my friends asked about a table. The server looks at me and immediately begins shaking his head. He comes up and says the dog can't be inside the building or on the patio, even though there is a dog water bowl next to the building well within the patio limits. He begins explaining some state law, as if that's needed, and that there is "only one place" on the island I can dine with a dog. I attended and worked at a camp on the island for eight years, and know for a fact that there is more than one place to eat with a dog outside. He then says that we can join the waitlist and I can tie him near the propane tank outside the patio. Since there is a large table right there and we have a big group, I begin to ask if I'm able to tie him to the outside of the fence next to the table. However, when I looked around from where I was pointing, he was already gone. Didn't even wait for us to answer if we would still like to eat there or not. My dog had barked at a little girl that was leapfrogging toward him in the middle of a restaurant patio two days before. The aunt was very upset, but the child was unharmed, my dog has never bit or harmed anyone, and the parents seemed to think it an appropriate lesson for their kids not to go up to dogs they don't know without asking. The servers were very nice at that restaurant when we immediately asked if we could get our food to go instead after the woman's loud reaction. Either the aunt's word traveled to this server, he's potentially racist (as I'm black and one of the few black women I see on the island), he's just normally this rude, or all three. Looking at other reviews, it seems he's just normally this rude. I understand tensions are high during the pandemic, but there were much better ways to handle the situation if he did not want the dog dining with us. First, he could have stayed to hear our answer as to whether we would actually like a table. We never even spoke a word to him. He just lectured us and left. Secondly, he could have offered us takeout if there was no way we could eat there, but mentioned no such thing. Sure, the food's great, but I don't ever want to go back there. read more

Great meal at a good price! Came here on a breakfast date with my granddaughter, enjoyed some hot cocoa, and she enjoyed the pancakes w/ strawberries while I got stuffed on the bacon/cheese omelette! I'll definitely pass along a good word, and I'll be back again when we visit OI again next summer read more

We are a retired couple visiting Orcas Islands for a couple of days in August 2014. Today we went to Island Skillet for lunch were basically turned away! We went there at 1:40pm, and saw available seating. When we requested the table for two of us for lunch, the host advised us no seating was available, they close at 2pm for lunch and basically turned us away. He was not hospitable and it was no service and no smile. We were shocked and disappointed with this experience in what is otherwise a wonderful and beautiful island. In end all was not lost...we were immediately and graciously sat at the restaurant across (Roses) where the service and food was excellent. Kathy and Ravi read more
