I was down for vacation and received a full body massage from Therese with a scalp massage and reflexology. I have had many massages and have never received quite as amazing as this one. If I didn't live four hours away, I would go to her regularly in a heart beat! Best experience of my life. Wow! Had an appointment for 2:00. I live on SSI but I am new to the Spa so I arrived 10 mins early. I was told Brittany was running a little late. At 2:26 I was told Brittany was just finishing up and would be with me. I said, Is Brittany the one giving the pedicure?.....Then she is going to cut my hair? Yes! Deep sigh from me! We booked at stay at the Inn at Sea Island - which is LOVELY! - and I had some time one morning. I thought about getting a manicure so googled what was available. I found the Island Day Spa and noticed it was within a very short walking distance of the Inn. I found it super easy to make an appointment online from their website, which they quickly confirmed. This was my first manicure since February 2020, so it had been awhile!!! I was quickly greeted upon entering and seated with my lovely nail technician. She did an amazing job shaping my nails and making my hands look amazing. She picked a perfect light pink polish, making my hands look so great that I kept telling my husband that I've got to do better about keeping up with my nails! I instantly regretted not booking a pedicure at the same time as my mani - I'm sure that would be just as delightful an experience. Island Day Spa is a phenomenal place! As a wedding present to my girls I got everyone one hour massages, and mani/ pedis. The girls were amazing, quick, and did a wonderful job. I also received a wonderful facial and couldn't be any happier with the results. My skin was glowing for my big day. My fiancé also received a haircut from Brittany and he could not have been more pleased. On top of our time already spent there, Brittany and Lupita did our wedding hair and makeup for the day of. Could have possibly been the best blowout! I won't know though. I used the online booking service and found out the hard way that they charge you for a no show, even without a verbal confirmation. Carmen said her husband made the phone call and left a voicemail. With today's electronic services and a brand new phone, I have a hard time believing that my phone just didn't get either of the two. That being said, this is just a warning to confirm yourself with your right date and time. There is no email or warning that is given at time of making your appointment that you will be charged for a no show. I just wish the customer could be right again sometimes and a "see you next week" when you're in town could have been possible. Also, they add tip onto a no show? Will be reporting to the BBB. *After being contacted by the BBB, Island Day Spa did refund me $10 for the tip to their employee for the work they didn't do. read more

Normally I don't let anyone touch my lower back as it's like an open nerve. I have a high stress job and reactive arthritis which was acting up from my allergies. A gift certificate was purchased for me by my son and daughter in law so I could have services while wintering on Saint Simons. We have several family situations arise causing us to cancel our plans. This business did not mention to my daughter in law that the certificate could not be refunded. In an effort to speak to someone about a refund, I made 1 phone call and sent 2 emails, all of which received no response from the business. So, I called again and spoke to an arrogant person who hung up on me. Then another call came in and some other person hung up on me. Could never recommend such a "spa" that would take $125.00 with no conscience and gives no info to the purchaser about refunds. There also is nothing stating this on the actual certificate.. The two stars are for the establishment cleanliness and the friendliness of the hostess and the technician I had. Without these, this would be a one-star review. My issue is with the quality and price of the service. I have had many Brazilian waxes (from Georgia to California) and this was one of the worst ones - mostly because of how much hair was left behind. The price only added insult to injury as it was the most expensive one I've ever had; $70, before auto-gratuity (-___-). I think this place gets away with the level of service and price because they are the only place in the surrounding area that offers Brazilian's. I've used Island Day Spa as an occasional treat for seven years. Carmen, Lupita, Laura, Nathan, Brittany, and Misty take customer service very seriously! I had a gift certificate that I kept meaning to use, so last week I asked if they could possibly work me in sometime (around my work schedule) for waxing. It was a crazy-busy week, but they searched and gave me three great options as far as time. When I went in, I was able to go right back to the treatment room. As always, I was greeted with a friendly smile -- soft music was playing and the spa was clean. The technician was friendly but not overly chatty, which makes it more relaxing. She was efficient, but it didn't feel rushed, and she asked all the right questions to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. It was as painless a bikini wax as I've ever had, so that's a plus, too! The technician recommended a great sugar scrub for purchase and also shared a sugar scrub recipe that she likes. I was new to the area and went here. First of all, know that this place is not inexpensive. Unless you want to be shocked (300.00 for color and an automatic 20 % added). Asked stylist if she would work with my other hometown colorist (7 hr drive). She said of course. When I left I asked her to write down formula. She said I have your number, I'll text it. Never texted it. Sent salon a note and asked stylist to let me know formula, never texted it. When I left they asked me to make next appointment and they were so pushy, I did. BIG mistake. I asked for reminder card and she said they would text to confirm. Great. Fast forward maybe 6-8 weeks. I get a robo text my appt is next day at 8:00am. It is like 11 at night the night before and I'm at the home 7 hours away. I call the next morning when I get up at 8:30 and she says it is less than 24 hrs to your appointment so you will be charged. Oh, there's one way we won't charge you is you reschedule the appointment. I don't know when l will be back so no I'm not going to pick another arbitrary day that I'll be back like I did with the last appointment. I'll call when I'm sure of my schedule. Well guess who got charged for the appointment that never occurred? Getting your hair done should be a pleasant experience. I've had better times at the dentist. They will stab you in the back. Out for the money, not building clients. Now I know and I hope you will know before you go. I dislike people where their dollar is supreme over building relationships. read more

I wish I could give a negative star. I haven't been the the massage parlor or waxing services but I can tell you very well how my hair experience went. When I went in there, I was having high expectations because of the price and the amount of luxurious detail they had in the salon, but I was wrong. The first sign that should've told me to turnaround and run the other way was I saw a cockroach on the hair color book. When I first saw it I jumped and told the hair stylist to drop the book. She did not see the bug and told me maybe I was seeing things. She went to mix the color I wanted, which was a dark brown (towards lighter brown) NOT black. Well she came back and started putting I the product when she jumped back and said I see that mother ------! She stomped it with a towel and looked at me and said she thought at first I was crazy for saying I saw a bug...really??? Ugh to say the least I still thought I would get my money's worth. Well the whole time she was doing my hair she was very abrupt and looked like she never done curly hair before. Getting the tangles caught in the brush, not straightening it with some attention to detail (I've been to cheaper salons who took the time to straighten sections of my hair), she however just seemed lazy about it. Back to my color, when it was revealed to me, I knew that there was no turning back. It was pitch black. I was shocked and very upset. I'm not the type to argue at first, I felt maybe it's the lighting or maybe I'm just not used to it (my hair is naturally dark and I had highlights done months ago. I wanted to go back dark). Well it's been a week and I still feel the same as I did when I left. I want to give this review because I know how much a woman's hair can make them feel. I don't want others to feel like they have to deal with this result for the next few weeks until they are able to fix it again. Now remember when I said I felt the stylist was lazy...she had a reason to me. There is an automatic 20% gratuity added to the service. I went here to go get my hair done almost a week ago now. They did a Balayage on my hair which is dark on top and blonde on the bottom. I truly couldn't be any happier with it. It was very pricey, but in their defense I have very dark hair to begin with so turning it blonde was a task. My hair stylist was very sweet, but I can not remember her name (I'll post it once I find out). The only reason I am giving this place four stars is because of my wait. I waited for an hour before I got in the seat to do anything. While I don't think it was my stylist fault, it was a bit excessive of a wait. What a great experience! My husband and I went to Jekyll Island for our honeymoon. While there, we decided to spend the day on St. Simons island. At about 4:30 in the afternoon, we decided we wanted to get a massage. We called Island Day Spa and the owner Michelle answered the phone and told us that we could both get appointments at 5:30.
