They said "tip has been included" when I went to check out- they meant they already charged my card 20%. $54 total for maybe 40 minutes of sitting in lukewarm water and some filing- no "massage" as in their brochure. While visiting St. Simons on vacation, I went in for a 90 minute deep tissue massage. Callie was wonderful. I get therapeutic massage regularly ~once per month and this was one of the best massages I've ever gotten. She focused on problem areas and pressure was perfect. I also got my hair washed/styled. The girl who did it was very sweet and spent time to make sure it looked perfect before a date night with my husband. This really isn't a Spa but it was clean. My therapist was very nice, and the entire staff was friendly. I had a hot stone massage, and it was just okay. My therapist stopped 10 mins short of what was supposed to be a 90 minute massage, and this always bothers me. Customers beware i got Groupon certificate from my daughter for facial, when i call first she ask the credit card and pay upfront $ 10 tax. i told her i never paid upfront tax all the time i use Groupon. I have lived here for a few years and booked 3 or 4 services here during that time. I went in for a massage today and was reminded of why I don't really like coming here. It's really like a salon with a couple of massage rooms in the back....there is really nothing spa-like about it. By the same token, you kind of just truck in, get your service, and truck back out. Prices are steep but that's to be expected with the island premium....in short, if you're in a pinch and want a massage or a facial last minute, you will likely receive a more or less adequate service. If you want to feel pampered and like you had a nice spa-like experience--this is not the place for you. read more

I purchased a 100 dollar gift card and i made an appointment in March but unfortunately couldnt keep the appointment and i forgot to cancel. I called to make another appointment and the lady i spoke with said my gift card was charged the full 100 dollar amount because i didnt cancel with in 24 hours. I tried to get the lady to give me something back on my gift card and she said no and it isnt right to take money away from the person who i had the appointment with. I feel like i was robbed. I was given a gift certificate for a massage and facial for Mother's Day. The massage was okay, nothing great. I could hear what was going on in other rooms during my massage...it was quite distracting. The massage therapist did not work on my hands or feet...( it was a full body). Not sure why she didn't. I've always had that done before. After the massage I was given some water in a paper cup. You would expect a little nicer for the price. The facial was nice, but after she recommended products but did not know a price for anything she recommended. I have been to many spas and had many massages. I am a regular client of the Island Day Spa. It is just a fabulous place! Carmen and her team provide excellent services and are genuinely pleased to see you. I get a 90 minute Hot Stone massage every month. My masseuse is Katie and she is incredible. Her massages are sooo relaxing that I usually fall asleep during them. I also get a pedicure and waxing once a month. Christie is the technician that usually performs these services and her work is flawless. She is a pleasure to deal with and extremely caring and knowledgeable. Nathan, at the front desk, is efficient, knowledgeable, and fun. Anyone living on St. Simons Island or the immediate area should try the Island Day Spa. I find their prices very reasonable and they have, what I consider to be, a very generous and responsible cancellation policy. The woman who took care of my was very sweet, as well, and she did a great job. I recommend this spa, however, it is pretty pricey! My wax was around $80. I came here for a blowout before taking engagement pictures. Not only did the process take over an hour (my hair takes maybe 30 minutes to dry), my hair was frizzy and the stylist had no idea how to style my hair. Tip was auto added (20%) and if given the choice I would NOT have tipped. Also the cost of a blowout was $60 which is INSANE and more expensive than much better blowouts I've had in the past. Here on a business trip with my husband, thought it'd be nice to get a manicure. The salon was nice and the employees were all very polite. I felt like I got great service and was happy with my manicure and experience. However, when I got back to the hotel, my polish still wasn't dry an hour and a half later. Also, woke up the next morning and have the bed sheet weave stamped into the polish. I went to bed 6 hours after my manicure. There is no reason it still should have been tacky. Either they are putting it on way too thick or they are using really old products. I probably won't visit again when we are back. They do include a 20% tip on your ticket and don't even ask if you are satisfied. Normally that wouldn't be a problem for me (I usually tip about 30%), but considering I'm going to have to take it all off and didn't even get to enjoy it one day, I wish it had been less now. read more

The upfront receptionist was very nice and accommodating. However I went only for the bikini wax, anyone who has had these that they can be very painful at times, the lady rudely reprimanded me when I yelped in pain saying there would be no yelling because a massage next door. Here is a tip, don't put a massage room next to the torture chamber. One additional time I yelped but trying my hardest not too she yelled at me again like I did it on purpose. I really felt like walking out the door after being treated so awful. The rest of the salon looked nice and I will say she was quick. Well since it's one of the only places in the area to get a wax I decided to go ahead and book the appointment. The first sign of failure was when I called to book the appointment and was told I had to provide my credit card info just for holding the appointment which is fine, I've seen this before, but it wasn't until the end of the phone call I was told that I would be charged the FULL AMOUNT if I did not show. This place is already over priced so that kinda bothered me because I felt like it was a trap,but I went ahead and kept the appointment. Day of the appointment everything went great until the actual wax process..the lady DOUBLE DIPPED! At first I thought maybe I was seeing things but then she did it again and again. I got the Mothers Day Out package. 1 hour massage, 1 hour facial and 1 hour pedi with hair wash and dry. The massage was nice, but had to tell the masseuse to give harder pressure because it just felt like a rub down. The facial was wonderful, Jennifer Owens did an amazing job. I would go back to her again! The pedi was just okay they did to use disposable files but the pedicure itself was a little sloppy. The wash and blow out, was also okay the wash felt nice the blowdry was just another blow dry. By the end of the blowdry I did have prom hair! Next time I will tell her no hairspray! Overall the The staff was very friendly and the spa was very clean the robes, towels and sheets that they use were also clean. Next time I'll only get the massage and facial. Tip: The whole process took about four hours. I was there from 10 am to 2 pm. Next time I will bring my lunch, I was starving towards the end. read more

When you go to a place of business, you expect professionalism and to be treated with respect. This is NOT the case here! The new owner, Carmen, is RUDE and UNCARING and ONLY OUT FOR THE MONEY. They schedule appointments but don't adhere to them and will NOT offer a discount for having to wait 30 minutes. They will NOT even give a $5.00 discount for having to wait because of their scheduling mistakes! It is also RUDE to automatically include tips in the charges because the service may not be good because they know they are getting tipped anyway. This was by far the worst spa experience I have ever had. I booked a spa day for myself and 5 of my girlfriends and everything went wrong from the beginning. We had two appointment times (3 girls went at 9:00 and 3 of us went at 10:15) and they mixed up the services and times, even though I called twice to confirm. We were 10 minutes late to our 10:15 appointment and we were very apologetic about that, but as soon as we walked in the door, the rude receptionist scolded us and told us we could only have 15 minute massages, instead of the 30 minutes we booked. I told her I was not willing to pay $50 for a 15 minute massage and she said if I wanted to cancel, my credit card would be charged anyways because they have a 24 hour cancellation policy. When we agreed to go ahead with the massages, the staff abruptly herded us back to our rooms. My masseuse was extremely nice and did a great job but as they warned us, the massage was cut short. One of my friends didn't even get to turn over. When we went to pay for the massages, they overcharged us. We booked the basic 30 minute massages for $50 and they charged us $72 (including gratuity). I was not in the mood to make a scene so I paid it and left but I really wish I would have argued it. I take responsibility for us arriving late and hope that if we had been on time, the experience would have gone differently. However, I do not think being 10 minutes late required poor customer service. I felt as if the whole staff had a vendetta against us from the minute we walked in the door. I have worked in the service industry for years and I cannot imagine treating any customer the way we were treated, no matter the reason. read more

I called spa to ask them to provide up to 250.00 services for my daughter who lives n Brunswick for her Bday gift. I was NEVER told about a cancellation policy. My daughter is struggling and resides in a halfway house and is dependent on the room mother for transportation. I called and remined her the day before of her appointment. Unfortunately, the house mother changed her mind and could not transport. My daughter has no phone privileges unless its with family. Next day I got a charge for 174.00 on my CC. I spoke with the owner explaining the situation She was rude and combative from the start. I said I would be happy to pay a no show fee for possibly 50.00 which she refused. she said the stylisy waited 30 min for my daughter hence why she charged my card 174.00 I would love to make 174 for a half hour and not perform any service. The final blow, she hung up on me, I would never recommend. I live in Delray beach Florida. Ive taken this matter up with my bank who is filing a claim on my behalf. read more
