I have been going to Island Auto for years. The owner is a great guy. One thing I appreciate, and some people have a hard time with, is that he is completely honest. He won't BS you. The work is good, and I trust him completely. I noticed while I was sitting in the office waiting for my car that some customers were playing games and didn't want to pay. I think that's where some of the lower ratings come from. Island Auto has gone above and beyond for me. I needed a printout for a hearing at the RMV, and they actually came tonthr registry to drop off that paper for my interlock device so I didn't have to leave and miss my number. You don't see that anymore. They offer a wide range of services--from towing and interlock devices to engine repair, oil changes, electrical issues, and brakes. I can say they have done most of these services plus a few more. If you're looking for a one-stop shop in Green Island, this is your spot. read more

I dropped my car off at Island Auto Repair on Harding Street as I was told to do Monday morning. After hours with no update, I called and the front desk staff, Makayla, was rude, dismissive, and eventually cursed at me and hung up. When I spoke to the manager to report this, he asked if I left a bad review, and when I said yes, he told me to come pick up my car and that they would no longer service it. This is completely unprofessional and retaliatory. The issue with my car still isn't fixed, and I was treated with total disrespect simply for asking questions and giving honest feedback. read more

I was nervous to go here at first because the lady who answers the phone does not have the best manners and she is the same way in person. However the guy who did my car was so lovely and nice, I got an oil change and it was very fast and he was super nice. The parking on the street isn't the best but was not a big deal. From reading other reviews it seems the mechanics are great, however, I could not experience that for myself as the phone operator was very rude and unprofessional making me never want to do business here. I found Island Auto Repair online through Groupon when looking for a good place to get an oil change. I asked to get a quote, as in the past I have experienced in store discounts can sometimes be better then pricings I have found online. As soon as I mentioned Groupon the lady on the phone became agitated. I didn't think much of it. I made an appointment. I called back several minutes latter realizing I had forgotten to ask a few questions. The same lady as before answered the phone. When I asked for more specifics about their "Full-Service Conventional Oil Change" the woman started yelling at me. I promptly asked for my appointment to be cancelled, thanked her, and hung up the phone. read more

Its very rud ,dishonest unprofessional company.We agreed on the price but when my wife came back to pick up the car they charged her more than we agreed.I called and asked for the refund and they stated that check was mailed.I never recived the check and wasted the whole week on following up on this and I was always told we are busy call back later!customer beware! read more

I went to get an oil change here, the mechanics overall were very pleasant and efficient. They worked fast and I was out of there within 15 mins BUT the front desk woman was rude and when I asked her questions she spoke to me as if I was incompetent and failed to answer them. If you want more business you should really think about replacing her. read more

I'd give Island 10 stars if they had it! Great place, Awesome staff and you can't beat the quality of their work and their prices! First time for service there today, Transmission oil and engine oil changed, serpentine belt changed and they even fixed a slow leak in a tire... all done in just a few hours! Mack and Charlene are great as well as the mechanic who did the work... Have to say it's worth the drive there and supporting a local small shop who does quality work at reasonable prices!! I had the good fortune of buying a car from Mack back when he used to do sales as well as repair. That was 17 years ago, and I've been bringing my cars to him for service ever since! Gone are the days of not trusting mechanics; I trust Mack 100%. He is honest, dependable, and will go out of his way to get you a deal (like scouring junk yards for used parts in order to save you money on a repair.) My parents take their cars to him, so does my brother-in-law, as did my ex-husband! (Mack joked that I've been going to Island Auto longer than my marriage lasted, which is true!) I was experiencing some car troubles a couple months back. The owner told me that my turbo was completely ruined and I would need a new turbo installed. The owner told me it would take 1-2 weeks maximum. He went forward with putting in my turbo and that alone took approximately 3-4 weeks to be done. (I understand in the mechanic field that sometimes things do take longer than expected) Fast forward, I finally pick up my car and I drive my car towards home. Within 10 minutes of driving, I could tell that my turbo in my vehicle was not properly working once again. I drove my car back to the shop. Few days pass, they take a look at my turbo and explain that it was installed improperly causing the turbo to be defective and that they will need to reinstall another turbo. ANOTHER 4-5 weeks pass; waiting for my car to be fixed. I also had to continuously keep calling in these 2 months to receive updates because they never called me to explain to me why it was taking so long. Absolutely ridiculous, TWO months I waited on my vehicle to be fixed for a job that should have only taken a few weeks. I never even received an apology; I would recommend to NEVER go to this shop. read more

Customer service needs some serious work. I get that people have bad days, but there's a limit to service employees.

The woman at the desk is extremely rude and judgmental and acts like she is from the registry . Called for a simple phone number which she did not give me the correct number and then hung up on me after I asked why she was being so rude to me . Yes I made a mistake with my car and simply just wanted a phone number . Have been going here for a year and the other co workers are great but I will no longer be dealing with a miserable toad at the desk . read more

I called around area auto shops with a tall order - I needed to come by at 1pm to rotate and balance tires, change oil, and leave before 2pm. Most of them said no until I came upon this place. I went there and they were able to get it done with flying colors. They provided me with internet coupons even though I didn't know about them. There's a nice comfortable waiting area and their oil change reminder had the change at 5,000 miles (last place wrongly said 3,000 miles). Got back to work in time. read more

not a friendly place to deal with . Called today to get a and b solenoid done on my tranny and this guys telling me all other things like i dont know what im talking about or just plain didn't take the time to listen to what i need done told me to do it myself pretty much . after layin on ground for 4 hours serviced my tranny i was mad as hell . Said it would take him same time while on a lift . Hung up on him because he pissed me off threw away business with no care. I hope no one gives you business you do not deserve it . Got interstate transmission doing it at 170 very nice people honest and don't talk down to your customers .
