What a find! The only thing more beautiful than my food was my sweet fiancé that accompanied me to this outstanding sushi restaurant! It came well recommended by locals at the hotel and it did not disappoint! The steak bites (ribeye steak pupu) were outstanding as was the hamachi jalapeño! The ahi rice cakes were delicious and that firecracker roll absolutely delighted ! The only problem with this review is you can't give six stars! But I'll give it five all day long !!! read more

Great Japanese restaurant in Kihei! We had a large party and shared a bunch of appetizers and sushi rolls, and everything was great. The tuna poke nachos had tons of fish, the salmon belly was cooked nicely, and sushi was all fresh and flavorful. The fried chicken appetizer might have been the only miss, it was rather plain. For dessert the Kona Mud Pie was excellent, and my party liked the banana lumpia (I'm not a fan of coconut). If you're staying in Wailea or Kihei, this is a great option! read more

Excellent sushi (and more) options. I enjoyed the White Dragon and Red Dragon rolls and they were so tasty. The oysters were fresh and delicious. Love the ambiance of the restaurant. You definitely feel you're embedded in the local culture versus a lot of the touristy spots. Customer Service was great, Our waiter did a great job of checking in with us and didn't oversell us on anything but had thoughtful recommendations. Our next visit back to Maui, this is top of the list. read more

We walked in at the end of happy hour for a quick bite and their books were totally full for the night, but we were able to dine as long as we were done within the hour for an upcoming reservation. Our server was bomb (and I so wish I remembered her name!). Honestly, happy hour is great but we ended up ordering off the regular menu. The lilo n sip cocktail and the espresso martini are both wins. The fried poke fell flat....poke is better as just poke. The fried chicken ks delicious and we had 4 different sushi rolls....so fresh and yummy -- nothing was left! I also appreciate that they are not stingy about their ginger and wasabi portions -- yes yes yes. read more

Service was excellent, Dana did a great job. Food was hit and miss! We loved our appetizer(crispy rice w tuna) and their Hamachi was some of the best ever and we loved the Firecracker roll. This big miss was Tuna Akami sashimi, eel sushi and Umi roll as they all lacked flavor! read more

Didn't make reservations so needed to wait about 20 mins on a Wednesday night (7pm). The restaurant was cute, clean and busy. The waitstaff and sushi chefs were super friendly but the food itself wasn't anything spectacular. We got the oyster shooters and special nigiri omakase. We were not told what fish was which but I could tell there was mackerel and it was VERY salty. Given it being average, I'd go somewhere else read more

First time trying this restaurant, not huge Sushi eaters but they have other good options. We had Hamachi rolls very good, the blacken catch of the day, and garlic prawn noodles. All delicious! My drink Shiso cool great, not too sweet, cold and refreshing. read more

For spring break, my mom paid for our trip to Kihei, Maui. We arrived late in the afternoon plus delayed in our luggage's due to Hawaiian Airlines loading to the wrong plane but was also heading to Maui [I'll do a separate review on them ]. Our first night in Kihei, Maui, we decided to have our dinner at Isana. We were told that there would be a 30-35 minutes of waiting so we have agreed to do a takeout instead. To our surprise, Lita and Chad said there was cancellation as we were placing our orders so we definitely decided to stay to get the full experience We are very happy and pleased to the service we received from Lita and Chad, who greeted us when we walked in providing us with a warm welcome and friendly smile . Then to Andy, who was our server, who shared some of her favorites and also some places to visit in Maui. The food!!! It's definitely a must try place to add to your bucket list, if you haven't yet. We had the White Dragon , Firecracker , Fresh Oysters , Spicy Tuna , Crunchy Tiger , Maui fish 'n Chips, Garlic Prawns Noodles and Burger Sliders with Fries . Opted out for dessert because they ran out of the ube crème brûlée Everything we ate was mouth watering! The fish melted in your mouth. Totally broke da' mouth The dining experience was amazing from the service with the staffs to the delicious food and the setting of the restaurant! I would love to come back and hopefully have a chance to sit on the rock side area with the blue lights read more

So much good food from panko crusted ahi tuna to salmon belly to nagiri to shrimp tempura roll. We started with hot sake, tea and Sapporo beer, and edamame and a few bowls of miso soup. We had a desert of coconut passion fruit sorbet to round it all out. Our server Ben was kind and quick. Great location and atmosphere! read more

Great sushi place. Ambiance is busy and fun. We had some amazing oyster shooters to start and the soft shell crab- highly recommend both starters. We had the firecracker roll super spicy but I love spicy! Also a rainbow roll, Salmon skin roll and one of their newer roll options. The espresso martinis were also on point! read more

Food is delish. Options are great. Service was fantastic. This review is for everytime I have dined here. They never disappoint. Mahalo!

I'm happy to report I can turn my frown upside down for my review almost a decade ago. The spouse said we're going to Isana for a friend's birthday dinner. I silently exhaled with disappointment as while I do enjoy some varieties of sushi, it's not my favorite type of cuisine. ATMOSPHERE: Gone is the upstairs loft bar and seating area. The space looks lightly renovated, with the teppanyaki-style hood vents throughout, though they're all decommissioned but still present. RESERVATIONS: Recommended as they're pretty popular. PARKING: Extremely limited with no overflow options nearby. The lot behind the restaurant is for the condo that shares the property. There are some unofficial street stalls on the shoulder of S Kihei Rd., but it's on sand/dirt and is part of the beach park. MENU: Strong list of booze & mocktails, sushi, tempura, ramen, salads, seafood/meat/poultry entrées (yay), desserts. BEVERAGE: Menehune Mule - $14.00 The bartender forewarned me that theirs has no ginger beer in it, instead replaced with a homemade ginger simple syrup. I concurred. It was good but a mule definitely needs ginger beer with its signature cough-inducing fizz and intense flavor. Hokule'a - $14.00 Served martini-style, this was really refreshing and well-balanced all around. The pineapple flavor wasn't overpowering either, a plus for me. Two yums up! Lilo N Sip - $14.00 The tiki-faced glass and mint green contents brought oohs and ahhs from the table. Finished blended, it was thick, creamy and very milkshake-like. Another highly recommended bev. Shiso Cool - $13.00 I had a DD, thank you very much. Ice cold with crunchy bits of ice swimming around, another winner that was more tart than sweet. And, an anglerfish-like fin ray sported a candied piece of ginger at the end which was excellent to chew on and enjoy throughout the drink. FOOD: I partook in a few sushi dishes ordered for the table, including California, shrimp tempura and unagi rolls - all were good. But, my favorite was definitely the Ribeye Steak Pupu, a sizzling platter of tender steak, mushrooms and onions. I was intent on ordering the Garlic Prawn Noodles but I was pretty content by then. SERVICE: Everyone was terrific! Even with our large party, everything went smoothly with no hiccups. They were so lax about splitting checks too, thank you! OVERALL: My stomach gets a whole lot happier when there's more than sushi on the menu. read more

Went for sushi and misoyaki butterfish. Butterfish was rich, nicely seasoned with white miso but the sushi was awful. They seasoned our sushi with so much vinegar saying it was vinegar forward is an understatement. The sushi rolls were like eating vinegar straight out of the bottle. The traditional Japanese vinegar seasoning is for a subtle hint to compliment the fish. Not at this place. Plus the sushi rice was dry like it had been left out and uncovered for hours. We won't return to this "sushi" restaurant. read more

The food was incredible! The sushi was so fresh!! The miso soup was the best I've ever had and the poke nachos were delicious! Also! Their homemade noodles were spot on! We took pictures of the nachos and they were so good we forgot pictures of everything else because we just dug right in! I ordered the mud ice cream pie with the Oreo crust! Literally mouth watering. The service was great! Annie is an amazing waitress! Ambiance was very relaxed and comforting. read more

So this sushi spot was so great we went twice in a week. We didn't have reservations and sat at the bar both times. Servers were beyond hospitable. This restaurant's sushi was so good, so fresh, I would be sad to hear you read this review and didn't make it to this spot. Things we loved: the Komo Mai is a different roll you probably wouldn't try back home so I'd suggest this.. SUPER bomb. The volcano roll was also the best volcano roll I've had. We also ordered the local sashimi chef choice.. fresh fish, so good. Broke da mouth roll was good but I think there are better rolls to choose from. They have a wide variety of options. Their garlic shrimp noodles looked good (this other couple next to us had it) but we didn't try it ourselves. Also, the first night we ordered the local caught pan seared fish special and that was just as good as it sounded! In terms of drinks we loved the Shiso cool cocktail: refreshing, balanced, not too sweet. Anyway.. we loved this place! We also tried the tempura ice cream yum. read more

The butter fish is excellent! Service is good. Everything else is good but not spectacular for the price.

Omg, it is so sad. This place went down since we were here a year ago a lot . I remember year ago we enjoyed the food very much. We ordered big eye sushi this time. You can get better quality of tuna at Costco. Unagi sushi had very smelly fish taste. Not fresh at all. Rainbow roll was the best . It's extremely hard to ruin CA roll. This is a reason it was OK. The biggest disappointment was whole fish dish. Google is raving about it . The waiter said they have it twice a year only. So we got Mahi colar dish instead. It was OK. But skin should be very crispy. If you live in Los Angeles, go to place called Nico sushi, they have excellent yellowtail collar dish. The service is also very plain. Waiter is done with you after your order. Nobody comes to change the napkins or ask if you need anything else. All in all, we should've skipped this visit this time. When you go to a restaurant, you want something memorable for at least a few days. This visit was comparable to a mediocre all you can eat place. You eat, you pay, you go home. Changed to one star. They ruined my day in Maui. Got food poisoning. read more

We came to try out the happy hour menu. Excellent service, very friendly. Restaurant was clean and nice. We ordered: Salmon avocado roll: very sad looking. If you're a sushi restaurant at least take pride in rolling a decent looking roll. Salmon was ok. Salmon nigiri: ok Unagi cucumber: also very sad looking. Shrimp tempura roll: good flavor! Fried chicken: very crispy and juicy. This was good. 5 pieces bone-in chicken thigh. Small size thighs but actually a good portion. Sliders: very tasty and juicy. Would order this again. Happy hour price point was good for this quality. read more

This was probably our favorite restaurant on our recent visit to Maui. Beginning with the beautifully designed interior, warm welcome and friendly waiter, we knew we were in for a fun experience. There were 4 of us and we ordered an assortment of Nigiri and "Big" rolls and enjoyed every one of them. All the fish was fresh, which you could tell in the taste and texture, and definitely added to the experience. We also got an order of crab cakes and those were the best ever, as in minimal breading and sweet, tasty meat. The descriptions and pictures of the rolls were accurate, which doesn't always happen, and just added to our experience. If you're looking for an excellent sushi experience in Kihei, I highly recommend Isana, you won't be disappointed! read more

Made rsvp for the night, but we ended up arriving at least 45 mins earlier. We were able to get seated right away, which we really appreciated. Our table was seated right by the window so we were able to watch the sunset. It was clean and the table was big enough to order lots. Our server was quick to bring our waters and take our drink orders. The drinks were delicious and came out tasty! We had to have more than one of course! Every single dish we ordered was sooo YUMMY! Nothing was disappointing at all. The service was great also, so overall we had a very good night! We can't wait to come Maui again just to eat here. read more

Delicious!!! We made reservations on a holiday. We arrived about 7 minutes ahead of our reservation and we were promptly seated. We enjoyed this family friendly environment with a view. Our food came out super quick, and service was good. Our specific server forgot to check on 2 of our sushi bar items + the drink refills but the kitchen and supplemental team were on top of everything! Parking spaces are T.I.G.H.T.!! Here's what we had for $193 before tipping. - Big Eye with Kizami Wasabi - Crab Cakes (fabulous!!) - Edamame (served chilled vs. warmed) Not pictured - Kids Fried Chicken bowls (not shown) x 2 and our 8 year old cleaned his bones. - Nigiri (Sake and Kani) Not pictured - Oxtail Soup (my husband was completely enamored with all of the rich flavors of the dish) - Garlic Prawn Noodles (enough to feed 2 - 3 people) - Kikori Buck (Whiskey drink, just okay and not pictured) read more

Incredible service. Never had a wine glass empty. The happy hour prices have gone up about a dollar difference from the Maui Happy Hour app. Everything was very fresh and delicious. I called this evening to see if people without reservations could come. The hostess said there were high tops in the sushi area and bar seating that were first come first serve. I was coming with my family so I figured a high top would be fine. Got there and she said the high tops are bar seats. What? Drove there for nothing. And hostess, a high top is this. The sushi was so delicious, just as good as the sushi I had in Japan. I also really enjoyed the fried rice! Service maybe could have been a little more attentive, like they didn't check on us enough and forgot to bring the tea we ordered. The chicken in the kids meal wasn't good either. read more

We were seated promptly, and our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Inside is nicely decorated and pleasant atmoshphere. We asked for recommendations, and went with what he suggested. We ordered a sushi appetizer and later ordered one of the big rolls. Both had been recommended by the waiter and both were fantastic. Drinks were good also. We finished by splitting an order of the tempura crusted ice cream. Quite a large serving! But so good, that I just had to finish it.
