I came here to attend an East Valley Singles MeetUp for the first time, on April 17, 2024. I hadn't heard of this restaurant until it was posted on the MeetUp. 16 people attended and we sat on the patio. I already picked my entree before I arrived. I always pick chilli relleno, because it isn't something that I would bother to make for myself at home, being so labor intensive. Well this place charges $11 for one chili relleno with no sides, even tho I ordered the entree that is supposed to come with rice, beans, and flour tortilla. I showed the server on the menu, what I wanted. But when the food was served it was only 1 chili relleno. I wanted a long time but the beans and rice never came. When I pointed out to the female who brings the dishes to the table, she had such a bewildered look about "rice and beans" that the hostess of the event, sitting next to me, was laughing. I asked her what was she laughing at, and she said the girl looked so clueless and blank faced, at my request for rice and beans. I told the girl "it comes with the chili relleno entree". She acted like "Got it" and went away. So she did eventually bring the rice and beans but it took soooooo long, it was not before I had to walk up there and remind her, and that I was waiting to eat my chilli relleno WITH THE RICE AND BEANS, and my rellena was cold now. I also had to remind the servers that I didn't get my flour tortilla (this was after I had already finished my food), that the menu said was supposed to come with my order. The chili relleno was SOOOOO BORING AND BLAND and WATERY, I was almost shocked. I also asked for more sauce, to make it less boring. But when the sauce was delivered I had to flag down another server to bring me a spoon to eat it worth (sauce and beans and rice came in a soup bowl). I ate a chili that was so hot in my mouth. I didn't have any ice. I flagged my server for the ice, but it took soooooo long for him to bring it. the rest of the group didn't get their food for a very long time. When I got my bill, I was surprised to see I was charged $11 for the chili relleno, and another $5 for the rice and beans labeled as "side dish" as if it were an after thought. I rarely give 1 stars but this place is getting a 1 star, mostly for poor service. It wouldn't be 1 star if the chili relleno wasn't so shockingly BORING, WATERY, and BLAND. I felt this restaurant was expensive, too, for "Mexican food". Valle Luna's chili relleno is much better tasting and several dollars cheaper for the entree plate. It is $6.98 for one chili relleno there, so I order two as sides. At Isabel, two chlli relleno would cost me $22, and there isn't even any meat in it, and so boring and watery! I would be really mad, if I ordered 2 of these, and had to pay $22! I couldn't wait to post this one star review. read more

I met the fam recently for lunch at Isabel's Amor. It's my sisters favorite but for some reason we don't make it there that often. We met on a beautiful sunny day, before the heat hits. The doors and windows weee open and it was glorious. I had the Pescado de la Parrilla. The flavors were spot on but the dish was ever so slightly dry. I have to say that it is extremely tough in a restaurant setting to nail this perfectly so I am totally ok with this. The mango salsa on the side compensates and balanced it out. Now, the reason that everyone should try this place is the "famous carnitas" dish. It is amazing each and every time. Try as we might, my foody family can't quite replicate it at home. The citrus marinade flavors the pork wonderfully. The kitchen manages this perfect blend of juicy carnitas with crispy edges. It's amazing. Do not miss. read more

This Mexican food restaurant has a great Happy Hour, with all the beers on their menu at $3.00 from 2 PM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Our server was very prompt in taking our orders and all orders were delivered as directed. The restaurant could use some updating. We were originally seated at a table that had a vinyl covered bench that had the vinyl split and the bench was very short, which made it uncomfortable. We asked to move to a table with 4 chairs, which was better. The food was just "OK." The chicken enchiladas are filled with white and dark meat, which gives them a taste that we have not experienced at other Mexican food restaurants that use all white meat. Their chicken fajitas are good, but are served with just one flour tortilla, and I had to ask for a few more. The couple we were with commented that their carne asada and tostadas were very good. The food was amazing!   The environment, both inside and outside the restaurant, was really pleasant. The interior was cozy and inviting, with a warm ambiance that made me feel right at home. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for its great food, outstanding service, and wonderful atmosphere. "I'd been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally went on a busy night to get takeout, even though it was packed. Despite the crowds, the food quality and customer service were amazing during the short time I was there. When I got home, I was very excited to try my burrito, rice, and [unclear item - did you mean "ate"?]. Everything was high-quality and delicious. My enchilada sauce was a bit lacking in flavor, but overall I'd still rate this place 10 out of 10. Next time I'm going to dine in and hopefully the experience will be just as good." read more

We were there on Valentine's Day and they made the evening special- Live music, a rose at every table, and Valentine themed cocktails. I ordered the vegan tamale plate. The tamale was delicious. I think they should do something to make the presentation better. Open up the tamale and put a sauce on top and/or some fresh toppings. Instead of a boring salad, maybe give some steamed or sautéed vegetables? Our server was excellent. read more

This place is super cute and the service as always top notch. They are very respectful and kind! You can beat the kids meal- perfect amount of food for an entree and dessert is included! I got the carnitas plate- very good and crispy just like they say on the menu! The home made tortillas are amazing. I wish there was a sauce like a creama or a consume to add to this dish- the crispy carnitas is tasty but I needed some moisture! My hubby got the three amigos tacos and enjoyed them. He wished there were more shrimp in the shrimp taco (there were only three pieces) read more

Wanted to give this place a try for quite some time. Finally got the chance recently and I enjoyed it. I would highly recommend the carnitas cheese crisp as an appetizer or as your meal. It was very good. The service was on the slower side and even though it's a smaller restaurant there wasn't enough attention given for the amount of people that were dining with us (6). Everyone was helpful and very nice so that was good! I heard this is like the "Upscale" Someburros after I had eaten there and looking back there were several similarities. Went on a Friday night at 5:30. Nice restaurant. We didn't want to wait so we set on the patio. With the patio heaters it was pleasant. Our waiter was excellent, very attentive and informative. We had the frijole appetizer and it was excellent as always. They provide chips and salsa, salsa is pretty good but chips are just okay. We had our usual carne asada. Large portions but too dry, guessing overcooked. Probably won't be going back. read more

I am visiting Arizona and was excited to try some authentic Mexican food. This place was not it. The beans were sour tasting and honestly, I think I prefer Rosaritas canned beans. Anything with beans was automatically ruined. The nachos consisted of six mini tostadas with sour beans smeared on them and a jalapeño or two. I also tried the chicken tacos and it was tasteless and bland. The rice was dry. Not sure why this place has such high ratings. I have to assume that it's been reviewed by people who have never tasted authentic Mexican food. The staff was nice enough though they got my order wrong and forgot to bring my drinks until I reminded them and was done with my meal. I will not ever be going back here nor will I recommend anyone to this place. There is no "amor" for this place. I would rather have Taco Bell. read more

My family and I went here for the first time last night and it was a very nice restaurant. It was very clean, there was live music and everyone was very friendly. The food was so delicious, as were the Frozen Margaritas! I recommend the Mexican Street Corn and Frozen Prickly Pear Margarita. Our server Ireland was very on top of everything and kept checking on us without being overbearing. She was very kind and interactive with our table. Everything was a 10/10. Isabel has all of my Amor! Came here for dinner on a Friday night and was met with a chill and lively ambience and friendly service. It was busy but since there were two of of us we were seated immediately and promptly brought chips and salsa. The food here is delicious and the prices are VERY reasonable I had the chicken torta served with fries ($12 for a very generous portion) and a few of their margaritas which were all strong, tasty and priced between $9-$12 they offer flavors both on the rocks and frozen! Tried Isabel's Amor for the first time and the torta was the best one we've had in Arizona! Honestly it was delicious! All the food was and since I'm such a big chips and salsa person, I have to say, these were bomb! I love the when I go to a restaurant and they get refilled once you've ate them all up and there's no question about it, KEEP BRINGING THEM! This restaurant was beautiful inside and out! We had some great and some not so great items, but all in all I recommend going here for great Mexican food. We waited for 45 minutes and finally got seated at 8:15. It took another 20 Minutes to get to ordering and then it was 9:00 by the time we were eating. To be fair we had a table of 8 and we did get several apps. I had the Chile Relleno and it was superb. Bri was our server and she suggested the borracho beans to go with that because she asked if I liked spicy and I said, yes. They were seasoned perfectly! I used to LOVE Isabel's! It was my go to place after a hard day's work. Anthony, the bartender, is always friendly and welcoming when he's working. Truly one of the reasons I frequent this restaurant! They're lucky to have him!! But, something has changed at the start of the new year. Beer during happy hour used to be $3.00. It's now $6.00. They used to have a customer rewards program that overnight disappeared, along with my points, and prices are higher across the board. The green tomatillo sauce used to be free and now it's $4.00!! Their regular salsa is terrible, but I've overlooked that because of the friendly staff and rewards, but it's sad that my fave restaurant is no longer catering to its customers, but instead only cares about making a lot more money. All other long-time loyal customers will know what I'm talking about. read more

After visiting again I'm changing my review. The service is less than mediocre. We waited 35 minutes for a table. Once we sat down it took 30 minutes for our waiter to take our order, and that was after flagging them down. One of the employees was chatting it up with the table next to us for 30 minutes at least while all the other employees are rushing around. I could see the waiters making boxes in the back in between checking tables. It was just not well organized. I watched a table that was sat 40 minutes after us get their food before us. I asked for more chips, didn't get them. The food is subpar for the price. Chips and salsa are ok. Horchata is water from a mix. I think the better reviews probably come from people there for the tequila. Will not be returning. read more

Stopped in shortly before closing for some shrimp tacos to-go and an Isabel's especial margarita while I waited. Anthony & Ryan were super friendly, helpful and professional. I hate it when it's closer to closing time and the servers are more concerned with closing duties than their customers. But not these guys!!! Anthony and Ryan make great drinks and made sure that I had options for salsa since the hot sauce sometimes burns my stomach (it's sooooo good though!) The first margarita was so good, I had to order one to-go. Don't miss out on this service, as there is not a better margarita in town. My shrimp tacos were amazing as always, as were the black beans. This place was recommended by a local resident we met at a different restaurant. So we stopped in for a very late lunch and grabbed a seat at the bar. Ben was our waiter/bartender and was extremely pleasant, patient and engaging. We ordered water because we were beyond dehydrated and the glasses were consistently filled without ever requesting it! We tried the three amigos taco which were tangy, flavorful and filling. We also had two crispy shredded chicken tacos that were also very delicious. The plate presentation was colorful and the portions are impressive. We ordered guacamole which was served in a tiny dish so we had to order a second. It was excellent and had the perfect balance of flavors but was too small of a portion for being so amazing. This place was a win win and we recommend it! read more

We went here Saturday night with my wife. We got there about 5pm and got right in. By the time we got halfway through our meal they were PACKED and I understand why. I had the POLLO ASADO ESPECIAL and my wife had the ASADO SALAD both were AMAZING! We also had the Ceviche which also some of the best I've had. Just a little kick to it but delicious. Second time at Isabel's Amor and this visit was even better than the first. Fast service, delicious food, family-friendly environment. This will not be our last time eating here! This restaurant is located in a larger shopping center so there's plenty of parking. We came in on a Monday night around 6:00pm and were promptly seated in the main dining room. Our waitress arrived to take our drink order within seconds of sitting down. I had the combo plate with one chicken tamale and one beef taco. I love the tamale but the taco was a bit too crunchy for me. My husband had the Three Amigos tacos and loved his shrimp taco the best. We started with the Cheese Crisp which is an absolute MUST. Ask for Bree to be your server. The only ding was they skimped on the alcohol in the margaritas. Not sure I can recommend those. Chips and salsa were awesome as well. Does Isabel's Amor deserve your time & money? Let's get into it! We walked in on a bustling Friday after happy hour (ends at 5:30pm), and was immediately seated as a table of 3. We sat outside, our server was very patient, and more than willing to answer questions and explain the menu. With that said, the service was great and the food came out quicker than we expected. Also this restaurant offers unlimited complimentary chips & salsa. The food was okay, but what stood out the most was the posole with flour tortilla, the Mexican style rice, and the carnita chimichanga very tasty. Other items we ordered, the house entree with the vegan tamale & shrimp taco, and another house entree with a ground beef taco & carnita taco. The food and service is great. Our recommendation is to improve the salsa. The mild tastes a bit like oregano and gives too much of an Italian flavor, while the hot has good spice but it is missing fresh flavor like cilantro, real tomatoes and onion. read more

Came for a small birthday celebration, first timers for all of us. We were seated immediately, was about 3:00pm on a Saturday. Service was efficient initially! We had to chuckle with our server because she let us know that the cook was grumpy so that could effect the orders. My initial reaction was wow! A tad unprofessional in my opinion! Drinks were ordered first and my wife ordered the the margarita flight. She said that the mango and strawberry were way sweet and preferred the house the best. Fun way to sample a few different flavors. Nothing else special to report on the remaining drinks. Chips and salsa were brought to the table and the chips were great. The salsas were good, with one of them being very spicy. We actually ended up mixing the two (spicy and mild) to create a salsa that was good. We also ordered the guacamole appetizer and all agreed that it lacked salt and lime, so meh for that BUT the chips were fantastic! Crispy and just the right amount of salt. Dinners ordered were Three Amigos Tacos, with a switch to two carne because of a non-pork eater...report was that the shrimp one was really good, the carne ones were "ok, had way tastier carne asada elsewhere". Two of us order the carnitas and we both agreed that the meat lacked flavor. I didn't care for the beans, too pasty, and the rice was flavorless. The tortilla was good and I made little tacos with the meat and guac, which made it better to eat. Wife had the Chili Relleno, which she said was very good. She passed on the beans and rice after taking a bite of both. We all determined that the server's notification of the cook being grumpy today had to have had an effect on the overall meal. I have read and heard from others who have eaten here so was expecting a way better meal than what we experienced. This is my reason for the three stars. Would we come again? Maybe if it was chosen by people we were going with but on our own, probably a one-time experience.I read more
