Although we've been in…read moreleagues before, the training offered is not as consistent nor as well thought out as UYP, which is focused strictly on training. We are incredibly pleased with their training so that when we play in the seasonal leagues the kids will have a better handle on the ball and understanding of the game. The basketball games that they play at UYP seems more focused on evaluating players for growth rather than chasing trophies since there are no tangible rewards for winning. It was a change of mindset we had to undergo as we continued on. Though I'm rating this at 5 stars for their academy, there are other issues present - including communication. The experience for parents isn't as streamlined since the space is rented from Momentous and I had to proactively reach out to be included in Telegram chats (the chat app of choice here). Since most sports leagues use sportsengine for sign ups, I was hoping this academy would make use of that app since the sign ups utilizes it anyway. Weekend basketball games for the club membership are about 20-30 minutes away from the gym they practice at and requires a hefty fee to watch.

They repeatedly used excessive physical contact, constantly running into opposing players. On multiple layups, they even came from behind and knocked players to the floor. What was even more disappointing was that some of the parents were standing on the sidelines laughing about it. This reflects very poorly on the culture of the team. The coach appears to do little to teach proper basketball fundamentals or sportsmanship. Instead, players are allowed to play recklessly and put others at risk of injury. This kind of behavior is dangerous and can easily result in serious injuries like concussions or even broken bones. I would encourage prospective families to read the other one-star reviews before joining. This does not seem like a program that prioritizes teaching young athletes how to play basketball the right way.

Attending Wyse Basketball clinic for the first time impressed us so much that my son immediately loved their program. It was the perfect time that my son and Coach West met and worked together for a year because my son had the goal of playing for high school basketball. My son kept improving and he was always excited to learn everything Coach West had to teach him. It was another level of play for my son. He became more and more confident as his knowledge was increasing, that after a year of being in the academy, he went for the high school try-out and got accepted. Coach West helped him reach his goal. Coach West is very good in communicating with kids. He talks to them in a mild manner that makes the players feel respected. He taught not only basketball skills like defense and offense, but also respect and being humble in and out of the court. He encourages kids to prioritize academics and become responsible athletes.

There are no shortcuts here--just hard work and excellent instruction. The coaches know exactly what high school coaches are looking for. They prepared players not just physically, but mentally for the pressure of tryouts. The environment here is the perfect mix of competitive and supportive. The kids are pushed to be their best, also build them up . High recommend.

We decided to try out NJB (Huntington Beach chapter) based on some recommendations from friends…read more Note: most of them tried it summer/winter season when I guess there's more participants and more volunteer help. However, the spring season for the Rookie division (K-1, 5-7 year olds) was super disorganized from the start and it hasn't gotten better after numerous parents bringing up concerns throughout the season with Coach Dennis who happens to be the founder of NJB too. This has been the worst sports league we have ever joined! 1) They shouldn't have 5-7 year olds play together and if they do, they should divide the teams equally by skill level but that wasn't the case. One team had much taller, more experienced players that would often dominate during scrimmages. Some of the younger ones would get upset, feeling discouraged which isn't a good start when introducing a sport. 2) The league should provide more coaching for basics and fundamentals as it was the first time for some of the kids playing. That being said, all practices are run by parents who volunteer to coach including some who reluctantly did so. Sadly, they are not given any instruction on drills so it's up to them how they want to structure practices. This happened the first time where the paid coaches just watched the volunteer coaches figure out how to coach the kids without giving them any guidance. After complaints, Dennis told us from week 2 week, we would have someone professionally give our kids instruction the first 30 minutes, then scrimmage the last 30 minutes but sadly that only seemed to happen 3x. The paid referees were supposed to come for all the scrimmages/games, but didn't. We had parent volunteers step in with some of the weekend scrimmages/games and referee too when no professional from the league showed up. This was so unprofessional. 3) Game times were sometimes changed 1-3 days prior to the actual game or from a Sunday to Saturday. One weekend we weren't suppose to have a game, then we were emailed that same week that we would have one. 4) Not all updated games have been emailed out. So some parents downloaded the NJB app (which only some knew about) and said that was more updated on there, but that still didnt show all the upcoming games. 5) Rookie division plays with 8 feet (vs 10 feet hoop). We found out in order to have practice with 8 feet hoops, we have to pay additional rental fees to practice at local schools that have them. When asked if we get a partial/refund, Dennis flat out said "no" because everything was done as promised, which wasn't. I'll be sharing my experience with other families and mom groups that I'm a part of.

Communication was poor, schedules constantly changed, and there didn't seem to be much structure in place. The coaching was another major issue. There did not seem to be proper coaching in place, and most of the coaching was done by volunteer parents who did not appear to receive any training, courses, or clear instructions from the league. As a result, practices and games often lacked structure and player development. We also tried reaching out to the league director by email to express our concerns, but nothing changed and our concerns did not seem to be taken seriously. Overall, this league did not meet our expectations, and we would not sign up again.

The program is very well organized, has great communication & provides support for the players and parents! Erika is a delight to work with and is very welcoming! My kids look forward to seeing her each session! This is a training program that teaches the kids skills on & off the field! The coaches focus on player development & skills that go beyond just winning the game! Coach Adam has played a crucial role in my children's soccer skills and behavior on the field & at home! He is very patient with the littles & creates a fun learning environment! We've had some 1v1s with him & look forward to working with him more! Both of my children feel seen & heard from all of the coaches! The other players also offer patience and guidance towards one another! My oldest has gained a lot of confidence on & off the field, has a better understanding of body mechanics and has become better at communicating with adults & piers! His skills on the field have drastically improved within the 5 months of being with PSA & I credit Coach's Adam, Harry & Rob for that! We're very blessed and thankful to have found this program and look forward to having PSA as part of our growth and development! -The facilities here are clean and accessible to all body types & needs! The coaching staff is exceptional--knowledgeable, passionate, and deeply committed to each player's development. The training is top-tier, focusing not only on technical and tactical soccer skills but also on building confidence and a strong work ethic. What truly sets Prospect Soccer apart is their holistic approach to development. Beyond academics and fútbol, the academy offers a well-rounded curriculum that includes entrepreneurship, financial literacy, public speaking, character development, and mental strength. These life skills are just as valuable as what's taught on the field, and they've made a huge impact on our son's growth as both an athlete and an individual. The classroom teachers are also incredibly helpful, patient, and kind. They create a supportive learning environment that complements the values taught on the field. The environment is positive, professional, and inspiring. I highly recommend Prospect Soccer Academy, to any parent seeking more than just soccer training--it's a community that builds champions on and off the field.
