I am patiently waiting for the hot Miami weather to go away so I can come back to this gem located in Miami's Upper Eastside, tucked away along the railroad tracks in the Palm Grove Historic neighborhood. Pizza + wine + 90 degree weather = dining fail! Yes, I loved everything about Ironside but I chose the hottest Miami afternoon to dine al fresco. The food was delicious but it was so hot I could not enjoy my meal fully. There is indoor seating but it is limited 10 tables most. Calling ahead for reservations is suggested in order to snag an indoor table. Indoors is nice but In my opinion, the magic of Ironside is to dine outside. The outdoor area is woodsie with plush greenery, art work, art galleries and lights overhead that light up at night. Ironside is perfect for a romantic night but you can also bring your kids if the babysitter doesn't show up. I came in that night to celebrate my step-fathers birthday and besides the heat, he loved every single moment. The drinking concept at Ironside is BYOB, yes you can bring your own wine, beer, spirits and they do not charge a corkage fee. Ironside does not sell their own alcohol. Everyone dining had their own bottle and enjoying the night. No one was rushed from their tables and we were there 2-3 hours, very laid back. My party loved their meal, the fare was light and not overpowering. I only wish they had more protein options since they mostly offer pasta, pizza or salads on their menu. The following was our meal including the complimentary warm bread as a starter: Smoked Prosciutto Pizza - white pizza with Prosciutto, truffle and arugula. Star Pizza - this was not on the menu, every week they rotate a new pizza. This had burrata on the middle and prociutto and ham inside the stars (see picture). Very tasty. Pomodoro Fresco - fresh tomato sauce, basil Macherroni Ragu - beef ragu, parmigiano Service was wonderful, our waiter opened our bottles and made sure we had everything we needed. We didn't try dessert because we brought our own cake which they didn't charge a cake cutting fee like other places. I want to come back on a cool and breezy night to relax and enjoy wine and pizza under the stars and not have sweat interfere with my taste buds. Came here for a birthday celebration and was not disappointed. Since it is BYOB, we brought some bottles of wine, which they happily served us with no fee. I ordered the Greek salad and Margherita pizza. Both were absolutely delicious! For dessert I sampled the tiramisu, which was one of the best I've eaten. My friends tried a more adventurous pizza with potatoes and egg, which they said was amazing. Can't wait to come back and try another pizza! read more

First time in this area, it is similar to another location in town. The atmosphere of the place is sort of new Yorker and pretty chill. Parking is on the street and in some parts of it you don't have to pay. Let's talk about food, the pizza was definitely bad. Pizza was super greasy and flavorless, ordered one with 4 different ingredients and thought that came mixed. Surprise surprise the pizza came out and its like I ordered 4 different slides. Cheese was sort of chewy (not in a good way) and smelled weird. In the other hand and what gives this place 2 stars is the Greek salad with salmon. It was amazing, the salmon was cooked to perfection and the veggies tasted fresh. The service was pretty bad, waitresses seem like they did not want to be there, not really helpful and never mentioned how the pizza is divided. I was in the Ironside shops and spotted this little gem and they were offering a three course lunch special for 12.99 which is a fantastic price, especially for Miami. There was quite a good selection aswell on the menu - three pizzas and a few pasta dishes and also about 6 choices of dessert. The service was v pleasant, v friendly and all with a smile. The outside seating area was really sweet too, surrounded by boxed vegetables and herbs, and all situated overlooking the itonside mid square. Here you could see the quirky cute shops and the art of a graffitied section of the original Berlin Wall....all very urban. I ordered a starter of a salad, which was ok, however there was one off piece of lettuce which I left. My pizza was the fungi - which was very thin (so authentically Italian) and had a nice base to it and was topped with tomato paste, cheese and mushroom pieces. I enjoyed it but it was a bit soggy in the middle, maybe a few more minutes baked and it would have been perfect. For my dessert I ordered the cherry panacotta which looked so pretty. It however was ruined by a dirty spoon..see pic! It was very light and delicate with vanilla pod in it and served with a sharp cherry sauce and a mint leaf. Another thing I do not like at restaurants is cheap cutlery, and these were nasty.. very cheap indeed...such a shame imo as it adds to the charm of a place if the setting is spot on...and this place it is. I would have liked to have given four stars but the lettuce, dirty spoon, soggy pizza and cheap cutlery stopped me..It is however very pleasant and I would definitely go again for the atmosphere, service and great lunch value. read more

Ironside is such a great outdoor dinning, service is amazing as well. Food wise we ordered a couple of things from the menu, the polpette , mushroom soup, this two things were delicious. However when it came to the pizza all you could taste was the dough, we ordered the Regina which is with white sauce, prosciutto, tomato and aragula. It was not our fav. This super cozy pizza place never disappoints. First of all they take reservations and usually are pretty good keeping it... which is the hard part. From the moment you walk in you feel as if you just walked in to a little Italian villa. With an outdoor garden with lots of fresh herbs and a a man made sand beach to seat and relax. Involtinis are great as well as their fresh salads. We usually have the Floridian which is an arugula and fennel salad with orange wedges and a very light vinaigrette which makes this perfect for our hot Miami weather. Eventhough they dont have a lot of pasta dishes they have a few pastas that are worth talking about.... the fresh pomodoro sauce in your choice of pasta (long or short) is amazing. Sauce is very light just like Nonna used to make it. (Always cooked perfectly al dente) And I haven't had it.... but people rave about the vegetable lasagna. Pizzas are the star here. With a wonderful thin dough and super fresh toppings to all go on a fresh and light tomato sauce.... very, very good. My kids would say that their favorite part of coming here is the "Nutella Pizza". With a crispy crust and that chocolate goodness is must. (Delicious) BYOB, they gladly will serve your bottles of wine and or choice of drink to you and your guests. Pizza and food are really good. My review is about the service: we ordered a tagliere to share and a Margherita to share. The pizza arrived before the tagliere :-) Also, they didn't have any small water glass available anymore so they gave my boyfriend the tall wine glass where he had to pour water in it. I know...it almost seems too good to be true. Directly on the right side of the entrance to this artistic hub is this fine gem of a pizzeria awaiting you with the scent of freshly baked dough encompassing the air. It's pretty romantic if you ask me. A few of us split the potato and egg pizza which was unlike anything I've seen on other pizza menus. I like how they implement bold toppings into their specialty pies allowing the eater to really explore their palate. The charcuterie board is beautifully served using the best cheese and cured meats all spread out on a wooden board. It's simple yet refined. We split a bottle of Rosé and then had a beer before our show at the venue behind it. It was a group of 7 and the waiter brought out all of our dishes on time and was really great with offering prompt service and recommendations. After taking a stroll around after the show, I scoped out how this plaza is really unlike anything I've seen around Miami. They even have two huge original concrete blocks from the Berlin Wall that has been converted into art. The rainbow eucalyptus tree in the rear is breathtaking. Ironside is a great little find tucked away near the train tracks. Currently, the restaurant is BYOB so that's just a phenomenal find in Miami when prices to go out are astronomical. But Ironside has so many other great benefits, the staff are all so helpful and lovely, the food is great and the service is wonderful. Last time, we had a group of about 6-7 and there was no misstep in service or food anywhere. The pizzas are delicious, the lasagna was wonderful, the gnocchi is like no other gnocchi I've ever had but I will definitely be ordering it again! Parking is on the street and I do believe there may be a little lot nearby but parking has never been an issue for me. Seating is Mainly outdoor but they do have a cover and they do have a small inside dining area (which gets a little hot due to the pizza oven being in there) its a gorgeous rustic little spot to visit! I went to this great place because I had a meet up there and I loved the location, service, and food. They have a parking lot beside the fact that you can park in the streets too. Both using the pay by phone app on your smartphone. The food was soooooo good, we had from cheeses, salads, antipasti, and pasta. I left before the dessert but I assume it was as good as the food. Came here for a quick bite before my hair salon appointment. I was craving something sweet and wanted a chocolate croissant which they didn't have, but my server Brianna suggested to make a Nutella croissant for me which was an amazing idea! The croissant was super fresh and crisp, with just the right amount of Nutella. I also ordered the "Uova in camiccia" plate which was great! We came as a large group for our secret santa exchange. We choose a system they have for large parties where they bring salads, cheeses and charcuterie family style followed by a good variety of pizzas, it worked really well since we have different tastes in the group including a vegetarian. Overall this place is really cozy, we sat outdoors, it was a lovely night. Right next to it there is a small kids playground and the space is surrounded by stores, so there is no street traffic which is nice. Wow just wow. The location is off the beaten path a bit but don't let that discourage you! There are shops around this restaurant and a little playground for kids to play. It's very calm at night but super trendy and enjoyable if you've brought the right company. I ordered the chicken with potatoes, their take on the pepperoni pizza, and pasta that was so out of this world I'll be making a point to get back to Ironside again soon! I have to say the service was over the top. The wait staff that wasn't assigned to me still made a point to say hello in passing and ask if we needed anything. While the food here is not bad, the general ambiance of Ironside is gone. This restaurant is the only thing open there in the evenings and the whole place feels desolate, sad, and uncared for. Further, their private parking lot charges astronomical rates if you've run over your meter time. While some sort of penalty makes sense, they're literally charging $90 for expired parking by 20 minutes. (that is not an exaggeration of the price). This entire complex is either poorly run or its purposefully being run into the ground so that the owner can sell it for redevelopment. Unfortunately, the pizza place is a casualty of this. read more

My family just had a terrible experience here. Firstly, my mother who is vegetarian, was given a calzone with meat inside despite ordering the vegetarian calzone and unfortunately didn't realize it until after she ate from it. On top of this "mistake", we had a server (who strictly serves drinks, I believe her name was "Mayer") yell at my sister for trying to explain to her that she gave us the wrong drink... We specifically ordered something sweet, which she recommended, but were given something dry and bitter. When my sister tried to explain this to her she proceeded to argue and try to tell us this was what we ordered... This lady then tried to take back the drink we had already paid for ahead of our meal; we asked her to just leave it since we had already paid for it anyways, to which she laughed and began to make comments with another server in Spanish, probably assuming we couldn't understand. She never accepted her mistake or apologize for her attitude towards us, even after we said she made us feel uncomfortable, she just laughed... Long overdue review for this place. If I were to choose only two things that make this place outstanding, it would be their service & their food. Third would be the decoration and restaurant set up. My classmates and I finished our last exam of our first semester in grad school, so we planned to go somewhere to eat right afterwards. This was the chosen spot, but we did not expect 20+ people to show up since the idea was really was word of mouth. It was about 3-4pm and the restaurant was able to accommodate all 20+ of us WHILE being friendly and efficient. Our food came out at a decent time. We were not forced to do a prefixed menu as they allowed to split us up into a few tables to avoid that. In terms of food, I ordered the ragu di carne and I am drooling while thinking about it. This place is very authentic. The pasta tasted homemade and so did the sauce. The servers were all italian. Ugh, I am definitely coming back. My other classmates all loved their food too.
