We both live in Portland but were wanting to find someplace outside of the city where we could pay decent rates and still have peace of mind that things were safe. Found Shield Storage Vancouver through a little online search and reserved a 10x10 climate-controlled unit through their online reservation system a month ago. Move-in date was just yesterday, so not much time to review on, but so far, at least, we could not be happier. The units and property are clean and in what seems to be a relatively safe and quiet part of town. Tammy was friendly, professional, helpful and knew her stuff. She took the time to show us around to make sure the unit we were reserving would fit our needs, talked us through the details of the contract to make sure we understood what the agreement was, and was very competent and enjoyable to work with throughout the process. While I don't ever anticipate needing to go there early morning or late night, I appreciate that the access hours give us that option, and it's helpful to know that the office is open on Saturdays as well. 24 hours in, I have zero complaints. Optimistic that this will turn out to be a good solution to our storage needs. A couple of (very minor) things that I'd mention that came up prior to our move-in: Gmail flagged my confirmation email from Shield Storage as possible spam/junk (it wasn't), and the introductory email indicated someone would be calling me to introduce themselves prior to move-in day, which didn't happen. I only mention it for reference because some folks might like to have that call happen; I am not one of those people, and I most likely would've just let a call go to voice mail anyway :) Regardless, when we showed up on the move-in date, everything went super smoothly, so it was not a big deal...but just wanted to mention it. Monday 7/22 I signed a contract with Battle Ground Mini Storage for unit number 404. Tuesday 7/23…read morearound 7pm I went to my storage unit, and found that there was a lock placed on the door, preventing me from accessing the unit. The office was closed. I called and left a voicemail. Wednesday, my plan was to ride my motorcycle to the storage unit, store my motorcycle in my storage and pickup the 20ft uhaul truck I reserved for an 8am pickup. I had already supplied my registration insurance for my motorcycle. Because a lock was placed on my unit preventing me access, I was not able to store my motorcycle, and forced to catch an Uber to pick up the uhaul. When I arrived to pickup the uhual the morning of 7/24 at 8am, after paying for the uhual and completing majority of the self check-in process, I found there was not a combination lock on the back of the truck. I looked all around the truck and inside the truck. I called uhual customer service, who attempted to reach the site manager. The site manager did not answer. I was then transferred to the schedule department. From there I was rerouted to Orchards location. Due to Battle Ground Mini storage not upholding their end of the rental agreement, I then had to take another Uber to the Orchard location. I arrived home at 9:30am versus my planed time of 8:30am. I hired movers through uhual to start at 9am. So I lost 30 minutes of moving time, as they were sitting waiting for me. I called the Battle Ground mini storage location and spoke to Emma. Emma advised a lock was placed on my storage unit by mistake from there their security team. She also advised she didn't know why the combination lock was not placed on the truck, and that my reservation was in the system for self check-in. As of today Emma is ignoring me. I have emailed Battle Ground Storage Unit on 08/13 and 08/19, and I have not received any response. This is the total cost I ensured due to Battle Ground Mini storage placing a lock on my storage unit causing me not to have access to my unit and for their staff not setting the combination lock on the truck: 1st Uber trip-$21.44 2nd Uber trip-$34.68 Movers: $47.50 Total $103.62 I would like to be reimbursed for $103.62. In addition, I canceled the storage right away, due to having to get a unit elsewhere and I was told I would receive a refund, for $44.84 for the unit, and I have not.

Let me pick up my key a day early since I had a long drive and figured I'd be back after they closed the next day. The storage units are clean, temp controlled. They have rolling carts to transport belongings around the building. I even once locked myself in the staircase (oops) and I called the front desk and Andrew was super kind and understanding and came and got me out right away. I only had it for a few months but didn't expect to have such a great experience and customer service from a storage place. Highly, HIGHLY recommend.

We've had several located in different parts of the US, and yes there is a difference. We desperately required a storage unit, possibly two, due to a huge move from over 1,000 miles away. Calling from our home town and not knowing where to start, I decided upon Ridgefield Mini Storage. As luck would have it, owner Erica answered the phone and was informative, understanding of our situation, and helpful. She immediately made us feel at ease, we decided to move forward with them. This is one of the best storage unit facilities we have ever used in terms of communication, genuine helpfulness, cleanliness, & safety. The front desk mgr Camille, is just as helpful.
