Looking for a space where my brother and I could store some family possessions we've accumulated between us through the years. We both live in Portland but were wanting to find someplace outside of the city where we could pay decent rates and still have peace of mind that things were safe. Found Shield Storage Vancouver through a little online search and reserved a 10x10 climate-controlled unit through their online reservation system a month ago. Move-in date was just yesterday, so not much time to review on, but so far, at least, we could not be happier. The units and property are clean and in what seems to be a relatively safe and quiet part of town. Tammy was friendly, professional, helpful and knew her stuff. She took the time to show us around to make sure the unit we were reserving would fit our needs, talked us through the details of the contract to make sure we understood what the agreement was, and was very competent and enjoyable to work with throughout the process. While I don't ever anticipate needing to go there early morning or late night, I appreciate that the access hours give us that option, and it's helpful to know that the office is open on Saturdays as well. 24 hours in, I have zero complaints. Optimistic that this will turn out to be a good solution to our storage needs. A couple of (very minor) things that I'd mention that came up prior to our move-in: Gmail flagged my confirmation email from Shield Storage as possible spam/junk (it wasn't), and the introductory email indicated someone would be calling me to introduce themselves prior to move-in day, which didn't happen. I only mention it for reference because some folks might like to have that call happen; I am not one of those people, and I most likely would've just let a call go to voice mail anyway :) Regardless, when we showed up on the move-in date, everything went super smoothly, so it was not a big deal...but just wanted to mention it. This storage facility is all about making the quick buck and disregarding everything else we have a storage unit with them life happening we were moving new jobs things got put off to the side went to go pay on our late storage which when he was late they told us that it's going to go up for auction or we can pay now almost $700 we're only 2 months behind that would be $280 plus a $50 in late fees so it goes from 3:30 to 689 that they want us to pay that's 100% markup I do believe it's illegal and it is not a safe and secure site read more

I had 2 units here. My rent increased multiple times a year. My last visit just after 6:00 pm on a Monday resulted in a sketchy van quickly pulling up behind me and therefore not having to enter there passcode thru gate. I tried to make it so they could not pass to no avail. I called the office which closes at 6:00 and got VM that said if they did not deem call to be an emergency that I would incur 100.00 fee on my bill. I hung up. Why would they want to deter someone from reporting something so scary. As a female by myself I felt extremely unsafe. For the amount they charge they should have someone in-site as long as the gates passcodes work. Tried calling multiple times and got not answer. Terrifying when I needed to access my unit this night. Can't wait to get out of there! read more

My daughter and son-in-laws storage unit got things stolen out of it by an employee, it was going up for auction so they have to open it and take pictures, then they put their own lock on it. They didn't loose it because they paid up, but when they were here from out of town they noticed it had been rumaged through and things were missing! Then to find out a employee was fired for stealing! And was the one who took the picture and put the lock on it! Do not rent from this shady place!!! read more

Someone drilled out my sister's cylinder lock on her indoor climate controlled storage unit and put their lock on. Nothing was stolen but they think it was an employee who happened to quit yesterday. They think he found out my sister and her husband went there (they can look up how often you go to your unit and my sister hadn't been there in months) and put his lock on with the intent of stealing their stuff. Nothing was missing thank God but they're moving their belongings to another storage. There's no cameras inside, only outside. Owner is a jerk. Shady people are always hanging around there and they flip the switch on the electronic door so it opens with movement instead of having to enter a code to get in like you're supposed to. $193/mo for a 10x15 unit is ridiculous- they keep raising the prices. The same thing happened to another guy while my sister was there. They drill out your lock and put their own on. My sister never missed a payment. Give your hard-earned money to a place that has sufficient surveillance and security. My brother in law had to go home and get his own drill bit to drill out the lock because these people didnt have the proper equipment to do it. read more

The staff here are very awesome. They had staff before that were not awesome. A gentlemen that was rude and always tried to make me feel small. Or that I didnt know or have any right to speak. But the new young lady is very sweet. I like the security watching. They are a great place to get a storage unit. I think the price is comparable to most. ​ read more

I recently worked for a gentlemen name Todd mcDade whose currently still getting jobs from this storage unit company. Todd has poor people skills, inconsiderate when it comes to clients items and how to handle and most importantly....... This man has very poor values ( his word has no value, don't bother listening to him). After I finished working for Todd, we serviced 2 customers whose items were either destroyed or homes were were damaged when moving items out. Find someone else whose has respect and morals for him self and others, don't go to shield storage unless they gotten rid of todd, other wise feel free to store your good there and reach out to them for assistance. read more

Never will I or refer this storage unit company to anyone. This place is riddled with crime. After 1.5 years of renting out 2 storage units. Unknown thief broke into one of the unit and stole many items that insurance can't replace. They didn't brake the barrel lock but somehow they got into the unit and went through my boxes and stole many valuable items they can pawn or sell. Maybe employee related who has master keys? Police report was filed and they even mentioned that they have investigated burglaries in this storage units. Please stay away from this place unless you want your stuff stolen. read more

This is a terrible company! I would give them zero stars if I could. I gave them a notice to vacate and left the unit completely empty. They tried to charge me again the next month. I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I called the customer service line, and they were terrible: rude and completely unhelpful. Avoid at all costs if you don't want a fight on your hands when it's time to go! read more

Storage unit was broken into due to units poor design. People are able to squeeze I to through the top of your unit and have free access to your property. Security? Nope. Doors are always open, just have to give them a little pull. I've seen various people living out of their units and utilizing the properties outlets to dry their hair or use a curling iron because of course people are showering in the bathrooms...no one is there to stop them. My advice pay the extra $20 and get your self a better place with peace of mind. My wife and I are dumbfounded how we've yet to get a phone call or an email of any kind from management to at least sympathize with us at the very least. This is the first time I've ever had a storage unit and I'm very impressed with Shield. The office is very clean and Tanner is amazing! He walked me through everything I needed to know in a patient manner and when I realized I needed to switch to a bigger unit than the one I had originally reserved he made the process quick and easy. I highly recommend Shield to anyone who needs storage in the Vancouver area. read more

I have been with field storage for about a year now and they have treated me real well we've had our differences about things and I don't feel right that we cannot go to know when above the people that are in the office when we want to appeal something that we feel that was not right so I hope in the future that they will work agreement program that will settle people's mind so they won't think that they are being robbed by The shield storage. I feel that they have taken advantage of me twice now for $50 cleanup fee one time it was hot out and we were eating ice cream and a little bit of strawberry ice cream fell to the ground and we didn't pick it up cuz it was melted but they gave us $850 cleanup fee for it and the other time they said one of my people left some garbage by the dumpster so they charge me another $50 cleanup fee and I asked if I could have a hearing on it with someone higher up and I was denied. I feel that this should be a pill process so I can get my money back that I was wrongfully taking for. Thanks for listening community cuz if you're planning on renting from field storage you better watch out a little drop of paper will cost you 50 bucks if you leave it outside your storage. read more
