In November I called this place about storing my travel trailer (6' x 8'), I was told they had a…read moreindoor place for me; cool, so I paid $91 over the phone, and the next day I drove my trailer there. The unit they had assigned me had a walk-in, Not a drive in door, ergo there was no way I could get my trailer in the unit. Called them, explained they misunderstood what I needed, the unit would not work for me, they said my $91 would be returned in 7-10 business days. It is now January, I've been dealing with 3 different people, the first of whom I've spoken with 3 or 4 times, trying to get my money back, each time I'm told "We're sending a request for a return of your money, we'll call you back within an hour..." and then of course that doesn't happen. Today, a new person answered, and He want's to argue with me! I ask for the owner to speak with, "I'll send a request... yada yada yada". Nope, I'd like their number please. "We don't have a number for the owner." ?! How do you "contact" them then?! Sounds like all they have in the office is an email address (hard to tell, this person is not a native English speaker), in any case, I'm still getting a run around to get my original money back two months after they were unable to accommodate me and my trailer. I don't know who these other people have spoken to ("Mike"?), but My experience with these people has not been as fruitful or pleasant. Something is not right with this place, the other reviews were written in 2023, so maybe this place has sold to a new owner? Anyway, I would stay clear of this place, they're not honest, their customer service sucks hardcore.

Looking for a space where my brother and I could store some family possessions we've accumulated…read morebetween us through the years. We both live in Portland but were wanting to find someplace outside of the city where we could pay decent rates and still have peace of mind that things were safe. Found Shield Storage Vancouver through a little online search and reserved a 10x10 climate-controlled unit through their online reservation system a month ago. Move-in date was just yesterday, so not much time to review on, but so far, at least, we could not be happier. The units and property are clean and in what seems to be a relatively safe and quiet part of town. Tammy was friendly, professional, helpful and knew her stuff. She took the time to show us around to make sure the unit we were reserving would fit our needs, talked us through the details of the contract to make sure we understood what the agreement was, and was very competent and enjoyable to work with throughout the process. While I don't ever anticipate needing to go there early morning or late night, I appreciate that the access hours give us that option, and it's helpful to know that the office is open on Saturdays as well. 24 hours in, I have zero complaints. Optimistic that this will turn out to be a good solution to our storage needs. A couple of (very minor) things that I'd mention that came up prior to our move-in: Gmail flagged my confirmation email from Shield Storage as possible spam/junk (it wasn't), and the introductory email indicated someone would be calling me to introduce themselves prior to move-in day, which didn't happen. I only mention it for reference because some folks might like to have that call happen; I am not one of those people, and I most likely would've just let a call go to voice mail anyway :) Regardless, when we showed up on the move-in date, everything went super smoothly, so it was not a big deal...but just wanted to mention it. Many thanks to Tammy and the crew there, we appreciate all your help!

Someone drilled out my sister's cylinder lock on her indoor climate controlled storage unit and put…read moretheir lock on. Nothing was stolen but they think it was an employee who happened to quit yesterday. They think he found out my sister and her husband went there (they can look up how often you go to your unit and my sister hadn't been there in months) and put his lock on with the intent of stealing their stuff. Nothing was missing thank God but they're moving their belongings to another storage. There's no cameras inside, only outside. Owner is a jerk. Shady people are always hanging around there and they flip the switch on the electronic door so it opens with movement instead of having to enter a code to get in like you're supposed to. $193/mo for a 10x15 unit is ridiculous- they keep raising the prices. The same thing happened to another guy while my sister was there. They drill out your lock and put their own on. My sister never missed a payment. Give your hard-earned money to a place that has sufficient surveillance and security. My brother in law had to go home and get his own drill bit to drill out the lock because these people didnt have the proper equipment to do it.

Honestly the extra charges they are trying to force is not acceptable. I chose this place based on…read moreprice. Now they are saying everyone has to change their lock. But if you look at the contract it says nothing about that. And they will collect a fee for the lock. My brother and my parents have units and neither require insurance. This place does and they tried very hard to get me to sign up through them but it is cheaper online. Now I am out of the country and they are saying you have to have one type of lock. They also raised the price from 69 to 99 dollars after 8 months. If you accept that they are going to rip you off come here. Don't let the low fees trick you, they will just raise the price and then say they are sorry. It's a lie. 1 and a half years and they doubled the price. Just go somewhere else.

I'd like to start off by saying we've been customers here since 2008. I've only dealt with the…read moremanager Don and his wife and have ALWAYS been pleased with their customer service. They've always been nice, called me when my credit card expired and I didn't realize it, etc. So, before today I would have given them a 5/5. Now, as a fellow business owner, today proved that someone in management obviously lacks leadership and training skills. I noticed a late charge and that they didn't draw until the 11th when they always draw out of my bank account on the first of the month. My account had the funds in it and I use this account daily with no issues. I walked into the office today to be greeted by two younger females. I said I need to speak to them about a late fee that I was charged. She immediately seemed like she knew me and what I was talking about, and proceeded to say, "you're the person I just spoke to over the phone, right?" I said, "nope." But it sounds like someone else has this issue. I asked why I was charged a late fee. She said because your card didn't go through on Sept. 1. I told her that's impossible and I will speak to my bank about the issue because I've had other direct payments that went through on the Sept. 1. She said it doesn't matter because I signed a contract stating no matter the reason they charge a late fee. The problem with this; my bank says this problem is coming from Iron Gate's system, and that they see no draw coming from Iron Gate on the dates that this girl claimed that Iron Gate tried to draw. That's somewhat beside the point, it's the attitude and long line of excuses she gave me about this issue. Basically there was no customer service and that was apparent from the moment I walked in. Very disappointed, especially when I grabbed Don's (manager) business card and put it in my purse as she was going on about why they don't care what my bank says. I could care less about the $10, it's a matter of really poor customer service and a very poor reflection of the business. Remember, the person that you put in front of your business is the face of that business. Customer service is very important, and her attitude was inappropriate and a sorry "face" for Iron Gate. As a business owner I would be ashamed to have her representing my company, especially when she knew she was dealing with a loyal and longtime customer.
