Mark was our server. To say that he was awesome is an understatement. He made sure that a member of our party did not get exposed to shellfish by asking the cooks endless questions as we thought of them. We ordered the Muffaletta and the Blacked Bayou Chicken. My take away(Short read): I would have never believed that a meal, at what should be a nice restaurant, could possibly transcend than that of a Krystal/White Castle gut bomb slider, but hot dang was I wrong they surpassed it in every way. Unless you want to be depressed by a great environment surrounded by terrible service and even worse food I would not go here. 1/10 would not recommend unless it is to someone you dislike and/or would want to cause them pain. We came in tonight, it was a very slow night by the time we arrived and were seated at 845. We had to go search for someone to talk to ask where and if we were going to be serviced. Once we talked with a worker at the bar she went and got us, someone, this was the first 15 minutes of this exciting visit to the pub. Once we finally got a server - after 15 minutes - we immediately ordered, I asked for her recommendation hoping to get the best food they offered, I love Irish Pubs and authentic Irish food! She recommended the shepherds pie, oh heck yeah I was stoked, hopefully, the food could turn around this terrible start and awful server who barely spoke (It was like pulling teeth to get her to be pleasant at the start of our meeting). The food took roughly 15 minutes to come out which is expected, no issues at all, once I got it I was a little worried because I had not been to an Irish Pub that did not serve traditional shepherds pie with crust, but what the heck maybe their rendition was going to be good! Wellllllll unless you consider your 8-year-old self going crazy with a mix of hamburger helper and add water mashed potatoes, The Irish Bred Pub would prove you wrong. You get a deep dish foil pie tin that is full of add water mash potatoes, under those you get peas, terrible, musky, tasting beef? and some cheese. It was that perfect mix to allow you to reminisce of the old days in the 90s. You remember I am sure - when you would heat up a TV dinner and after you ate you get that lovely artificial, rancid, with a sprinkle of pink slime meat taste. Yea I'm sure you know the one I'm talking about, the one that even after you brush your teeth you're still tasting it. Yea that's the level of quality this was. If you do go to this pub maybe just stick to beer, I decided to try none because if I only saw a server every 15 minutes I assumed the beer would come out warm or flat. There could be good food at this restaurant but I can guarantee that if you just got your choice of hamburger meat and a Bob Evans microwaveable platter of mashed potatoes you would be much better off. read more

IBP is a great place in a great little area of Opelika, it's a budding area downtown and this place on the corner, nice location. The building itself has character, old town store front feeling. They offer some local beers on draft but not as many as they could support, not a deal breaker though. I enjoyed the crab cake appetizer and the bangers and mash were delicious. Jacob the waiter had a great personality and knew the menu and the beers. The beer prices were a bit higher than expected but I didn't mind. The beer was the same price of a whiskey drink, $6. They do offer military discount on the food. I do recommend you try it out if your in the area. read more

Definitely not a waste of time or money! Worth every penny! Pros: Big portions for the price. Reasonable prices for starters and entrees. I had a meeting there, and the service was GREAT! I was not expecting a lot from a pub, but the food changed my mind. The shrimp was seasoned wonderfully, the steak was good and juicy, and THE COCKTAILS WERE GREAT! Cons: Salad was nothing special. I'm amazed every time I visit. My favorite part is the atmosphere--the wall hangings in the main dining room are adorable. Today I came for my birthday lunch with family; I got the gaelic sirloin with Irish (mashed) potatoes and a salad. The mushroom peppercorn sauce that came on top of the sirloin was AMAZING. My mom got the Reuben, which she loved. My brother got the chicken and chips--the beer batter is yummy! My dad enjoyed the build-your-own burger. I also love attending their comedy nights on Mondays. Irish Bred Pub used to be my favorite place in Opelika. The food was good, the portions were big, and it wasn't too expensive. In the past year all of that has changed. The menu has been changed so that the shepherd's pie, which used to come with a side salad and fries, now only comes with a roll. Each time we'e eaten here the portions have gotten smaller and the quality of food has decreased. The shepherd's pie keeps coming out in a dish that is smaller than the dish it was in during the previous visit. Tonight, the pork schnitzel was over cooked, dry, and bland. The menu prices keep being raised even though portions are made smaller and smaller. The service is usually poor. Occasionally you get a server that is on top of things, but most of the time you're left waiting at your table things. Tonight, we sat at our table for about 15 minutes waiting for our waitress to come back and take our cards to pay. We ended up having to walk across the restaurant to give her the card so that we could finally pay. It's sad that every trip we've made to IPB has ended in disappointment recently. All of these problems have happened consistently over the past few months, and it makes us not want to come back. I enjoy Irish food and this is really one of the only places in the area you can get it at, so I really hope this place will get back on track. read more

Great Irish bar in historic Opelika. We were down for the Arkansas vs. Auburn game and this was a great find. Great place to grab a bite to eat, get some beers, and enjoy sports on the many TVs in this place. They also have a outdoor seating, including a nice looking balcony. Highly recommend this place. Wonderful atmosphere, really good customer service, and delicious food. I'm boring in that every time I go to an Irish pub, I only get the shepherd's pie. I also got the snake bite. The waitress was nice even handled our orders incorrectly and overcharged, she let us have a beer or two on the house. I love the elderly (age 70+) that come here to drink. Went for a late lunch as an early Valentine's date with my husband and was extremely impressed. The staff were all very kind and helpful to any questions we had. We had chips & salsa for an appetizer and the salsa was very delicious. Great texture and flavor with the perfect amount of spice. I had the reuben and it was one of the best I've had. None of the flavors in it overwhelmed the other but instead melted together perfectly. The fries were also some of the best I've had as well. My husband had the Guinness bbq bacon burger and he was very pleased. It was cooked to his liking (well done but wasn't dry) and he said it had very good flavor. Pretty good place. Made a stop here for dinner while passing through on a road trip. The Pub is huge with two levels and plenty of seating. However, being a Monday evening, the place was pretty quiet. The hostess seated our party of four pretty quickly, and the service was very friendly! Our group ordered the following: Fish & Chips, Guinness BBQ Bacon Burger, Classic Reuben, and Blackened Fish Salad. I only tried a small bite of the fish from the Fish & Chips, but it was perfectly crisp. I didn't try the burger at all, but it looked phenomenal! My friends devoured both plates. I shared the Classic Reuben and Blackened Fish Salad with my girlfriend, and they were both delicious. I was more in the mood for a sandwich, so I enjoyed the Reuben more, but the Blackened Fish Salad was surprisingly tasty (a little salty though; I didn't really need any dressing, because the fish was heavily seasoned). The Classic Reuben hit the spot! It wasn't overly greasy and the side of fries were perfect (crisp on the outside and soft in the inside). I wanted to like this, I really did. I chose it over Ma Fias's Italian Ristorante, a block down in the same development. That was a mistake. First of all, because I was by myself they put me upstairs at a small table for two in the middle of the room. That wouldn't have been so bad except that it's really dark in here and there were open tables near the windows. I didn't ask to be moved because I assumed they were expecting a rush which never came. To top it off, the table wanked l wabbled. There was no one here, so I couldn't really people watch and they had gymnastics on the TV, so I was pretty bored waiting on my food. I don't drink alcohol but looked forward to a nonalcoholic Irish beer called Kaliber by Guinness. Real Irish restaurants are usually the only place to get it but the server acted like he had never heard of it. I settled on unsweet tea which was served in a huge cup. Needless to say he didn't have to refill it. So, I ordered the fish and chips which I generally like and thought would be good at an Irish Pub. It was not. I'd say it was barely edible. The fish was coated in a thick bready crust which was crisp on the outside but mush inside. The fish on the inside was kind of slimey. The whole thing had very little taste other than the oil it was cooked in. The chips were ok, especially when covered in vinegar. Maybe you'll have a better experience, but I doubt I'll be back. read more

This place seems to be going downhill fast. The fish and chips used to be awesome. The last two times the fish has tasted like mush. Even the once great hamburger is nothing more than mediocre. Used to be one of my favorites but I'm not taking a chance in going back. A friend went last week and had the same fish complaint---crusty with pure mush inside. The staff is good and she gladly replaced my awful fish and chips for the ordinary hamburger and didn't charge me for it. But still... The kitchen needs to get its act together. The Decour of this restaurant felt very inviting almost like walking into the old sitcom cheers bar. The wait staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The reputation of this place preceded itself...I've heard a lot of this joint and I know quite a few people that frequent here but had never been. Understand, I live in Atlanta and don't go to Opelika that often. But, this place is pretty damn cool and I want to go back already. Let me set this up for you: We were dressed in post-apocalyptic gear for a costume party that was going on down the road in a warehouse...yes, that's right. So, I walk in with a tactical bag, crossbow, and bullet proof vest and my wife has a huge fake knife and a zombie head. Yah...they were scared at first. But, the waitress came up, asked us why we were dressed up and then continued on like it was no big deal. I was worried about the vest but I guess we didn't scare anyone to much. We decided to grab a burger and a beer (cause that warehouse was damn cold)! I was very impressed with the beer selection as they had a lot of local craft brews including Terrapin and SweetWater. Prices were pretty decent, too. I grabbed a big 'ole fat, nasty (in a good way) bacon cheeseburger and it was heaven!! I can't remember what my wife had but she rather enjoyed it. The decor is A+ all the way, I was actually blown away for a place that is in Opelika. The bar and arches within the doorway are HUGE! I just could not believe this place exists here. Very spacious and homey, just the way a proper pub should be. The decor alone is enough to make me go back. Yeah, I'll be that guy that gives the Irish Bred Pub 4 stars, not because there's something wrong with it, but because I'm that guy who hates giving 5 stars. Furthermore, I come here about every week. The food is very good, especially their specials, being the Fish and Chips, the Shepherd's Pie, and their Guinness Stew. My only complaint is that the Guinness stew is not very much food at all for an entree; it's more like a starter in my humble opinion, but then again, I'm that guy who can eat two and half pounds of food and think nothing of it. Besides food, the Bred Pub has some good drink specials. Their hurricanes are very good and only 3 dollars during Happy Hour, which runs from 4:00 to 8:00PM on weekdays, I believe. They also have a host of wines, beers, and hard liquor. The atmosphere is also pretty decent here, albeit very loud usually. It has the feeling of a neighborhood pub, which is definitely a good thing. Finally, it's worth noting that the Irish Bred Pub is pretty damn good. Pardon my banal subjectivity, but it's definitely not worthy of the highest praise.. Well, maybe, for Auburn-Opelika standards. read more

This is a great place to grab a pint, hang out with friends and if pressed, order an appetizer. I would go someplace else in Opelika to eat though. Upstairs is strange.....it loses the Irish Pub feel in a hurry, but at least the noise stays upstairs and you can enjoy a conversation with friends downstairs. read more

I must first say that I visited this pub late night and did not experience the restaurant on the first floor but I did enjoy everything on the second floor. You can tell a lot about a place by the pride it takes in its bathroom and the Irish Bred Pub's was extremely clean and maintained. The service was friendly and attentive and the balcony is equiped with a surprising amount of seating, heating units, and ceiling fans to showcase itself in any type weather. The crowd had a lively feel with the ages ranged from 30 - 60. Basketball was on numerous flat screens and an solo guitar was in the corner performing for those who wanted to listen to live music. Medium quality food my wife had the fish and chips i had the shepherds pie. To start the fish and chips were very overcooked, just about burned, she at most of it anyway. My pie was mostly meat overseasoned with very little specs of peas and carrots and a sprinkling of mozzerella cheese on top. After we were eating our food the table next to us received their food, it looked like the cook paid attention on their food and did not burn it. Tonight's experience has been the worst dinner experience I have ever had. And my family goes out to eat almost every night. We waited an hour to be seated...fine. We then waited 2 hours to have our food brought out to us. In the mean time there was no manager to be found. When the food was finally brought to us: we did not receive what we ordered, only one of us received the special (which she did not order), the filet was NOT a filet, and they were not cooked the way we ordered them. We could not cut through the steaks, looked like Llamas chewing on them, and there was blood dripping from it. We had to ask for a manager because there was none to be found.
