Oh my goodness. These people are horrible. I hired the to install tile. The first week, they…read moresent a person , 1 person despite saying it would be a "crew". The man did not bring proper tools, kept saying he would, never did, and I ended up buying the tool to try and expedite. Owner never tried to provide tools needed and blamed the guy he hired. Week one was spent taking up 200 sq ft of old floor but not all the motar. Power said he had aa crew down with prior job. Could start Monday. I would have all three. I had 3 guys half a day. Ended up one guy, everyone else gone. Poor communication. One day I am told "tomorrow, final demo and dry fitting cement board. Didn't happen. There was another day of demo and some incorrect dry fitting. This is the point at which I said no more. What really sent me over the edge was they turned my water off on Wednesday and I advised multiple times I had an appointment and needed to leave by 230. The owner was supposed to come back before I.Left and turned the water back on. He texted me at two twenty seven and said he was about twenty minutes away. I was so mad and I had to go, so I did if they were. Said he'd come back that night later from Bloomington. I guess and turn the water back on, but I said, forget it. I tried to do it myself, and I couldn't, so I spent a night without water. It is so disrespectful, in my opinion to tell somebody. You will be there before they leave. But then don't be there, and they end up having a night without any water. I had new flooring company come out who said as they looked in the bathroom that they had broken my plumbing pipe. Now I have to have that replaced and have a drywall person in to fix that. I asked for a refund of the unspent.Amount I had paid up front. The owner is giving me the run. Around and now he won't respond at all. I have a lot of texts that show everything i'm saying, if anybody wants to see them. The owner told me that I have very unrealistic expectations. That could be true. But when the new flooring guys told me what it would take to fix the problems this company caused, it's less time than these guys already spent here. One of the workers for this company also told me that the they have been working on a job in Champaign for a month and a half, and they're nowhere near done. That's unverified by me. But now I have to sue this guy to get my money back. Also to get money for the plumbing that they damaged. And the drywall repair, which is another three hundred and fifty dollars. Beware. The values you read on their website which say what they are committed to are absolutely untrue, as it relates to my experience with them.

I had requested assembly of a kitchen sink cabinet. The response and quote were quick. Larry came…read moreout the next day and was very pleasant and did a good job putting together a poorly constructed cabinet. Unfortunately, the sink I wanted to use didn't fit safely but he did everything he could to accommodate my requests. He takes pride in his work and I would recommend him to anyone.

Steiner Services in El Paso, IL was hired to put an additional on my home. The job was never fully…read morecompleted and the lack of attention paid to the finish job on the project left me with no choice but to have Aaron Steiner walk away from the job and hire more competent workers. The foundation blew out during installation and the concrete subcontractor worked quickly to fix the job. The job required some jack hammering of extra cement and a skim coat, the sub contractor abandoned the job forcing me to pay $1000+ to a second contractor. When I filed a BBB complaint, Aaron said I was never charged for the extra cement that was poured (as if that somehow made up for the cement companies mistake). The new ceilings installed throughout my house were an absolute mess. We had tongue and groove board installed with an MDF board, Aaron forced parts into place (he tried to hand up to 16 foot boards on his own and when they were slightly off he just shoved them into place. Some of them are already slightly sagging and where he made mistakes he just slapped on caulk and didn't even attempt to smooth it out. I ended up having the ceilings fixed. He also cut around a ceiling fan instead of just removing the fan and finishing the job properly. In our new laundry room several tiles are not even. The electric outlets in our bedroom where we had new paneling were never moved forward, causing weird gapping (he told the BBB that it was just a preference. It's not). There were large staples left sticking out of some of the trim in our kitchen area. Soffits were left open for 5 months. The lights were here, Aaron told the BBB they were on special order. The electrician said he told Aaron just put put the cords through and not to leave the soffits opened. A window in a new room was installed crooked (verified by a professional) and now needs to be removed and reinstalled with the siding replaced with a proper fit. And old siding was mixed in with new siding. Steiner said they could just "power wash it" but a siding contractor proved that to be a false statement. I had to hire another contractor and order more siding. Avoid Steiner Services in El Paso, Illinois at all costs. I found out from one of our sub-contracts that starting and never quite finishing projects is the standard practice for Steiner Services.

During that time they hardly ever show up to work. Very, very poor carpentry work! Darrin Oltman tried to build me a new deck with old dry cracked wood that did not come directly…read morefrom the home store for my job. He had no receipts to prove what he bought for my project to show in court. Nothing about what his team did was right. Their cuts were sloppy and loose. They had no clue how to reinforce an existing deck structure and level a floor frame. For roof post, they cut off the handrails below floor level and then loosely attached 4x4 post end to end on top of 16" pieces of the remaining deck rails. Those were also just sitting on the ground and were no way connected to anything else. To save money, they did not want to use any hardware on the mainframes of the deck or the roof. They did a poor job planning and ended up jamming things together and Jerry rigging the whole job. It was over estimated. One example: He charged me $950 for roof materials and the finished roof priced out at $350 when. The roof was attached to the facia board and was not going to pass a building code officer if there were one. I was not at all impressed with how they could not construct a safe and long-lasting structure. In court, the judge agreed, IT HAD TO BE TORN DOWN. The replacement that I have now is beautiful, made of fresh new hand selected lumber, tight fitting cuts and a design that will last for years. It will also withstand the new 2024 90 mph wind rating for new construction here in Illinois. His roof could have easily been lifted and flipped up on my house since there was nothing holding the wobbly support post down. Darrin is a cheater and a liar. He also broke rules in the Illinois Home Construction and remodeling act. He would not speak in court and his wife spoke for him though she was not part of the job and did not witness its construction. She questioned the presence of sawdust on a construction site. He may be okay at screwing up pre-made cabinets in a remodel project, but do not hire him to build anything from scratch or anything structural. Keep a close eye on these guys if they are working for you. Question everything that does not look right.
