My husband and I hired Corey, of O'Donnell Custom Builders, to do a complete siding, roofing & window trim replacement for us post hail storm. At face value, O'Donnell has it all together. We were taken in by Corey's presentation, marketing materials, confidence and the fact that he could best our Lowe's estimate by at least $1000. Unfortunately, that does nothing to correct my now bubbled shingles, leaking roof or loose/warped and falling-off siding and the countless additional areas of sub-par work and ongoing issues we continue to discover with our home. During our preliminary meeting, Corey assured us he would be on site while work was being done. However, that was not to be the case at all. We didn't see him one single time on site. The only workers we saw regularly were the roofers. Towards the end of the job the siding guys always showed up after we would leave for work as if to avoid speaking to us in the morning and were packed and gone from the job sight before we got back home in the evenings. It happened so often that it was hard not to perceive this as deliberate avoidance on their part. Because of this, we were never able to make direct communication in regard to the repairs with any member of the team face to face. In an effort to make sure our concerns were being aired, my husband and I would look over the work that was performed each day for the things we found to be unacceptable. We would then attempt to call Corey's direct line to touch base and of course he was impossible to reach. We left countless voicemails hoping to inquire as to why the trim on the windows wasn't being put up, why the window they installed didn't match any of our pre-existing windows, why the laundry vents weren't replaced, why there were patches of bare underlayment exposed on supposedly finished walls and missing panels of siding that were never installed or the fact that my exterior light fixtures were never re-installed and so on, but with zero return or confirmation that our messages were being received. As the project neared completion, the issues only began to stack up with questions and concerns left unanswered. We contacted the insurance adjuster with the hope that he'd be able to chime in on the incomplete work. Conveniently though, Corey never managed to show up to meet with us and the insurance adjuster at the same time to assess the work and ongoing need for additional repair. He did, however; manage to meet the adjuster one on one to dispute the claim according to his uncontested perspective. It was after this meeting that our insurance adjuster had advised us not to issue the last half of the payment until an agreement was made ensuring they would return to address the details still in question. He also suggested that Corey provide him with receipts itemized bills and broken out invoice to prove what had and hadn't been budgeted for prior to issuing more payment. We met with Corey to discuss our concerns and address our finishing requests as our adjuster suggested. During this meeting, we specifically discussed the unfinished trim around the doors and windows as well as the chimney flashing on the roof that still needing to be finished. He then presented us with an additional payment sheet citing that in order to complete the job as we just outlined, he'd need to purchase more materials before he executed. We gave him a check for the discussed amount, with the understanding that he and crew would be back the following week to complete the work we had outlined. Inevitably he failed to do so and the work was never completed. We have yet to receive any warranty papers as well; including those for the roof and gutters that were replaced. We definitely expected professional work but don't feel that's what the end result brought us. He avoided our voicemails and only began to re-engage us after he believed our window for dispute had come to close; going on to say that we had failed to reach him in a timely enough manner to have our concerns aired. And here we are one year later with all of our potential warranties null and void, due to negligent installation practices. The window and door trim we paid and signed a contract over was never installed, our shingles are warped and the house is now routinely leaking throughout the top and middle floors from water penetration on a poorly flashed chimney. Our home goes on looking unfinished and uncared for as a result of the fish mouthing drip edge and the oil canned, punctured and popping siding panels that birds are now nesting in. My husband and I have photos to back all of this up and are ready and willing to further enlighten any other customers that find themselves to be as frustrated, unheard and taken advantage of by this company as we were. It is our sincerest hope that our experience offers others an honest perspective and pre-emptive insight into a reality we wish we could've avoided. Our house still remains unfinished and our dispute with O'Donnell Cus read more
