They tried to take advantage of my elderly mother who used Tucker Plumbing for 40+ years. She recently moved and had some drainage issues and needed a new water heater and water softener installed. They showed up to install it and shortly after stated they had to leave because a "contract client" had an emergency. I believe it was a nursing home. But clearly their priority is the "contract client" and not residential. He left and said he would not be long but did not call again until 5pm and said he would be back the next day. They did not return until Monday. Monday comes; the installer (owners' son) installed the heater and softener. Apparently, the company doesn't come prepared for any issues that may arise and take it upon themselves to use things in the house without permission. He used an unopened extension cord and adapter that were still in the package and completely across the room from where he was working. He completes said job and leaves. My brother and his friend had been replacing all the piping in the house because it was done incorrectly but had not had time to finish it all. There were copper pipes and fittings left in the basement for future use. However, when he went to get the pipes and fittings they were gone. The only people in the basement other than family had been the owner's son from Tucker Plumbing. My mother called Tucker Plumbing, and they stated they have it and that his son had "mistakenly" picked it up and brought it back to the shop. They couldn't figure out who's it was because they don't use that type. WHAT?!?! IS THIS COMMON PRACTICE? WHO PICKS THINGS UP THAT THEY DON'T BRING INTO A HOUSE???? The owner stated he would bring it to my mom's within the week. NO SHOW!!! not surprised to be honest. People who are shady often lie to cover up their mistakes. She had called a few times and no answer or call back. Yesterday had marked a week and a half so I told her to call them and let them know they have until the end of the week to bring it back or we will file theft charges. She made contact and he told her he would bring her $150 for the piping. Hmm, where did the original piping and fittings go that you stated you had and would bring back??? I am not convinced that charges still shouldn't be filed. PEOPLE NEED TO BE AWARE OF THE SHADY PRACTICE THIS BUSINESS HAS TURNED INTO!!

We walked him and Trisha through the house, giving details as to what we needed done. He said he could "do it all". He messed up so many things and thought he did a beautiful job. The agreement was to prime and paint most of the house, but he only did one coat and a crappy job at that. He painted outdoor trim and supposedly sealed the deck at 25 degrees (he only sealed the deck railings but claimed he did the rest when we weren't around, which was a lie). We paid him a lot of money and when we brought up concerns, he became defensive just like he does on the negative Yelp reviews. He kept asking for advance money to buy gas, but would only work 4-5 hours a day so it took more gas and more time to complete. The final straw was when he was unable to replace the kitchen grout as promised (claimed that was his area of expertise), he used white latex paint with beige travertine tile and claimed we approved that. The kitchen floor was an absolute mess! We ended up having someone else come in to fix his crappy work and it was done right. When he came to pick up the final payment and we question the shotty work, he threatened to put a lein on our house and his girlfriend started cussing and screaming in our front yard, threatened to punch my husband. We had to get the police involved, and later discovered that a 5-gallon gas can and a brand-new jack were missing from our garage, and Smitty & Trisha were the only people besides us that had access to the garage. All of the positive reviews here are either his girlfriend Trisha, or other friends, as they all seem to live very far from East Peoria (many are out of state!) And he has not been operating legally in the state of Illinois since 2016. Go check the IL Secretary of State Business license search before you make the same mistake we did.
