After looking in to the reviews of several HVAC contractors, I find that they all jack up the prices for parts they replace. $200 - $450 for an $8 part. $500 or more for a $65 motor. Any parts they put in are easily bought locally or online for pennies on the dollar for what they charge you.

The connection leak was caused by the connection not being tightened correctly. The sewer smell was because when they put the pipes together, they didn't put the rubber sleave on correctly (the compression sleave was bent) and it had a small gap where the smell came from. But the worse part of this install was they added $1200 to my final bill because it took them 6 hours (2 guys, three hours) to put a vent pipe through the roof. I thought the vent pipe would have been part of the estimate, but they added it in after the job was done. And it took more time than it should have, and I know this because I vented my dryer out the roof and it only took me an hour from start to finish. In my opinion the employees have no idea what they are doing. I will never hire them again.
