I'm so torn writing this review. Prior to covid, our family would frequent this restaurant. This is the first time since then that we've been back and it was a weird experience. In our party we were 2 adults, 1 teen, 2 toddlers and a baby in a stroller. They requested we sit at 2 separate tables because the government says so, so we agreed. The WEIRD part was that we had to sit across the walkway from one another instead of sitting in 2 tables next to one another. The other employee came and said "you can sit here & there or you can go sit outside". We were the only people in the restaurant at the time and I understand there are regulations, but this just didn't make sense. Especially because we were with small children and a baby! If we were all adults or our children were all teens then Id understand. The Thai tea was good, everything came fairly quickly. The miso soup and the kimchi soup had no flavor at all-- this was disappointing because that was my children's favorite part every time we've come in the past. I don't think I'll be back here with my family any time soon. I don't recommend coming here with children either if your party is more than 4. read more

A full-service hot pot restaurant . Great reasonable pricing for all you can eat. The choices are so numerous you can't get through all of them from Waygu, to ribeye, to lamb, pork belly, a variety of greens, corn, mushrooms, and such a large array of sauces and lovely desserts I ended up having the mango ice cream, every 15 minutes you can order more stuff, and it just kept coming to my table using the handy app. Just a reminder to make sure your table is ready to make your first order and check in with your waiter when to begin. There are so many broths that you can pick, you can't even begin to have them all on top of the sauces and then the grill you have so many choices. We found it extremely social we were very talkative we were sharing and moving our arms all around having a fantastic time to one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had. Quality of food is good, AYCE is never the very best quality meats but it definitely is on the upper end of things. Be warned, it is always slippery in this joint. It's like they oil the floors, I've never been in any restaurant that has such a slippery floor, not a huge deal to me but something odd and something to look out for if you take older family members. Staff is hit or miss, either decent or really rude and cold. Can never tell if it's just me or other parties around mine have the same experience. Ordering experience is really easy. And when they bring everything you order in your batch it's even better. Overall a good place to take a group of friends or large party. You can eat hotpot and Korean bbq but we chose to only do hotpot. For hotpot, you can have individual pots or one pot to share. We ended up doing one pot (the wait was shorter for one pot) with the spicy miso and parsley with tofu and preserved egg soup bases. The soup bases weren't super rich so you have to rely on your own dipping sauces for flavor. There is a self service bar of sauces to dip your food in. There is a pretty good selection of meats, vegetables, and fish balls. They also had sides varying from dumplings, dim sum, fried buns with condensed milk, and etc. We tried some of the sides and thought it was only okay because they lacked flavor. We recommend sticking to hotpot ingredients. The service was great! The server refilled our water and soup bases often. At the end of the meal, you get to choose from a selection of ice cream - green tea, strawberry, and cookies and cream. read more

Pretty decent hot pot place! I didn't care much for the sauce bar as everything was really coagulated and oily. I like the sauce bar are superhot or seapot better iykyk I thought the service was great and the portions were perfect as I'm not too much per order so you can try more of different things. Overall, they have a pretty good selection of meat, but some of the meats are definitely stiffer than I was expecting. I like that they have the option to do bbq and hot pot because some of the meats definitely taste better grilled. They use an app for ordering. For 2 people, it allowed us to order 15 items every 15 minutes. I thought this was a good amount of time to cook and eat everything between. I didn't feel like I was waiting for the time to be over before I could order more. The serving sizes are wack sometimes though. When we ordered multiple of some meats or other dishes, it would only come out with one serving, while other times, it would be 4 times the amount we ordered. Quality of meat is good, I really liked that they have beef belly and a bunch of different broth options.I also loved that they had the sauce station. Finally i got to try this place. They have some ipad or tablet where you can put your name in the waitlist. But they also have an online waitlist like through where you can put your name ahead of them before you get to the restaurant. My family and i uses the waitlist option through yelp so that way we dont have wait that long. This hot pot place is acye fot about $28+ per person but the drinks are not included. You will have to pay extra for any beverages. You have an option of hot pot plus grill or only hot pot only. My family and i decided all to get the hot pot plus grill. If you get the hot pot plus grill, then you can get your individual hot pot. It is cool to either cook your food either in the broth or the grill. They have a lot of protein choices to from that are included in your acye such as dumplings, seafoods, pancake, meatballs, meat, tofu, noodles, vegetables, etc. i got the secret spicy soup broth. You can a little bit of the spiciness but still good They have a sauce bar where you can make your own sauce and there is also a mini dessert bar close by the sauce bar They give you ice cream when you finish your meal. I have not been here for a year or so now, and was pleasantly surprised that they have a bbq grill along the hot pot now! They have added more options to their menu, including some egg pancake and popcorn chicken to their special food section. They bring you quite a bit each time you order (for 2 people in my case), and the bbq short ribs satisfied wanting kbbq, while still having hot pot at the same time! Positively the worst hot pot restaurant I've been to in my life. I think it's a race to the bottom in terms of ingredients and service. We tried all the meat none of which has any taste, they all had the same frozen plastic taste even after being cooked in soup and sauce added... it was that bad . Appalling food quality, they take absolutely 0 pride in their offerings. This is a "let's make as much profit as we can and offer the base minimum in exchange establishment" Cherry on top one of the waiters was belligerent beyond comprehension, the entire table was shocked by his behavior, it probably had to do with the fact that we has a big party and tip was included. I like this all you can eat place. You can do hotpot and BBQ at the same time. Reasonable price ($37.5 per person when I visited last weekend for lunch). You have 90 minutes to eat and can order 15 items every 15 minutes. They are not cheap on the quantity of each meat plate so keep that in mind when you place your orders. We ended up with a bit too much meat. The quality of their meat and vegetables are good. They also have side dishes that are surprisingly good, such as the lamb skewers, beef pancake and pumpkin cakes. Popcorn chicken is no good. Don't waste your stomach on that. read more

As our last dinner living in the same city, Nina Y. and I headed to IPOT. We joined the huge crowd of people waiting inside when we arrived and put our name down. It was a chilly evening and many customers were inconsiderate and wouldn't close the door behind them. UGH!! They've got to get a better system here. After about 20-30 minutes, we were seated along the side of the restaurant and handed menus. I like that there's the option of getting half hot pot and half grill. We chose two different broths, one spicy and one with salty pork bone. We ended up mostly eating out of the spicy side. Lesson learned for next time. It's about $30 for AYCE which is amazing. Our favorite dishes were Biangbiang noodle, cuttlefish balls, and some sort of beef. The downside is their method of reducing waste, which entails bringing 2 noodles and 2 cuttlefish balls at a time. So inconvenient, but fortunately that means you can try many things on the menu without fear of waste. Next time I would go for the half grill half spicy broth hot pot. Ending the meal with several orders of fried buns with condensed milk as well as green tea ice cream... just perfection. Temporarily we forgot how cold it was outside and how annoyed we felt in the beginning of our experience. Ultimately it was about good food and good company! read more

I think right off the bat it's great that parties are able to grill and hot pot at the same time especially if you are a big meat eater. They have an extensive list of AYCE meat and seafood which is awesome! We went with the split pot and chose the spicy miso and tom yum soup bases. The tom yum was our favorite because of how flavorful it was, the spicy miso was lacking flavor but the spice level was on point. I have to take off a star for the location of the sauce bar. We were seated next to the entrance up front so we would have had no idea that there was a sauce bar if it hadn't been for one of the waiters. I also need to call out the length of the chopsticks. They are massive and very difficult to use to pick up noodles specifically. In the grand scheme of things the chopsticks aren't that big of a deal however if we're talking improvements then getting shorter ones would be more practical. The biang biang noodles were phenomenal and my personal favorite. It was definitely a satisfying eating experience and worth checking out if you're a hot pot head like I am! read more

Came here on a Sunday night with a group of 8 and there was only a short wait! My table ordered the Spicy Miso and Pork Bone broth. Both were good, but I think the spicy miso adds a better flavor to the meat. I really liked how we could do both hot pot and barbecue our meats and there were a lot of hot pot topping options. There was also an open sauce bar so you could make your own sauce. The service was fast, the servers were all friendly, and they even have cute robot servers!! It's always a good time at iPot. I've been here about 10x now, and can't imagine going a couple months without visiting this place lmaooo. The GOOD: - Unlimited Xiao Long Bao lmaooo. They're not the best in town, but they're so yummy when you're hungry. - Sooo many fish balls to choose from :) freshly minced seafood balls, cheese filled, meat filled, or my favorite, the roe filled ones are the best! - Quality meats and ingredients. I recommend their wine-infused meats and grilled galbi appetizers (under meat section). - My favorite broths are pork bone and the tomyum. Both very flavorful, and not too overbearing when paired w/ the hotpot ingredients. TIPS: - Their milk pudding desserts are only available on Friday nights! Do order it if you come in that night. - Wait times are usually 20 mins - 1 hour, depending how many people are in your party. If you want the fastest wait possible - opt for hotpot only and come as a party of 2-4! I think the appeal of this place is being able to do both hot pot and BBQ, but tbh the quality of the meat seems like it's more for hot pot, so grilling it didn't seem super worth it.,, We ended up basically just using the hot pot. The hot pot is good, but I think I've had some other hot pot and shabu places that I enjoy more. They have some little robots rolling around serving food which is fun. And they have a self-serve sauce station (which is maybe not the smartest in COVID times)? The service was very fast here! IPOT lives up to the hype!! I originally just wanted to check it out because of the half soup half grill but was really impressed by the quality of the food (and the really yummy broth!!) They've also got a bar with fruit, jello, and other miscellaneous sides at the back which I really loved :) and the sauce bar is amazing. So many choices and all so delicious!!! I was really excited that they have biang biang noodles. They come out on a lil rack and are really tasty and chewy too!! The meat is really tasty and super thinly sliced which is perfect for someone who's impatient like me :p I do think that the grill (if you go for the half half option) is a little too small, and it's not replaceable either so the meat gets kind of gross after piling up for a while (we had to do some serious scraping action). Absolutely loved the sauce bar where you create your own dipping sauce with whatever and whenever you want, without having to reorder and pausing your eating, till your sauce is ready. FYI -Sacha + sesame paste + egg + parsley n onions = deliciousness. To me, having a customized dipping sauce is an important part of this fun dining experience. First you order the soup base by checking off with the menu with a dry erase pen. Then you order whatever your heart desires. Seafood, various meats, rice and noodles. BUT beware, they may charge you extra for wasteful left overs, so order only what you can eat. You also have a choice of a whole pot, half and half or half pot and half hot place. We ordered wagyu, New Zealand lamb, beef tongue, ribeye, belly pork, fish, mussels, and an assortment of beef n fish balls. The meat came thinly sliced and firm from the freezer. Food came quickly and they bring a side table if it does not all fit on the table. My favorite was the lamb and the beef tongue. Also the handmade noodles was really good. I liked the chewy texture of it and it came hanging on some sticks which really made them stand out. It was the ideal portion for one. Tip - get there early to have ample time for parking. Also, paying by cash will get you free teas or watermelon juice, so let them know in advance if you intend to pay by cash. BTW the milk tea and the taro tea was awfully sweet. I'd almost never go to the Sunset otherwise, but what can I say... it's just that good! I never cared for hot pot before, but what I love about IPOT is the sauce bar - almost everything is delicious (except the bean curd paste, which my friend dared me to try) and I especially love that they offer PICKLED JALAPENOS! This girl likes things hot, so any place that serves unlimited pickled peppers gets mad points from me. Service has generally been good (except once, which might've been a dud), and I've been very happy with their meat quality. I don't like buffets. Except hot pot and shabu shabu because the food is pretty healthy so that makes me happy! iPot is my favorite AYCE hot pot place because the service is great, the food options are endless, and the time it takes to get your orders is super fast. Various meats, vegetables, noodles, dumplings, and cooked items make this an easy win for me! The only thing I'd change? There need to be more burners for large parties. Our party of 7 sharing 1 pot was pretty annoying. Aside from that - we ate well, everyone had a good time, and we all want to come back. Four well earned stars. Lots of options of food, although each serving is small (maybe this is a good thing, to leave room to try more things, but if you have one thing you like a lot you'll have to get multiple orders). I learned through your tribulations to arrive at the door by 4:45p for a 5p opening and snagged tables without waiting in line amid a shockingly cold Bay Area winter. I rated 3 stars but will explain shortly. Everyone has reiterated all the merits of this place. I concur. I want to add one more thing: the soup bases actually have flavor! Like I mean they actually have SALT! Yes, the big bad guy, SALT! No, not Angelina Jolie turned Russian spy who went rogue. All hail salt because many Chinese restaurants and of course hot pot restaurants have gone the way of not adding in salt because salt is the big bad guy in the room. Yet make the food sweeter or blander. So if your soup base has no salt, of course you need all those sauces that are also packed with salt (unless the restaurant only provides low sodium options, then you can only eat sweet) because after cooking your food in spicy or other broth you can't taste anything because there is no salt to activate the flavor so must go drown the food in sauces! The frustrating part was the extremely tiny menu. Limited raw meat options. Surely you can expand the meat options more? You can only order one plate of four skewers once per table, not unlimited. WTF? I went here to eat delicious lamb skewer with my hot pot... They just opened for the night but were already out of many popular meatball options. The raw chicken slices were under meatball, not meat, leading us to expect a chicken meatball, not raw chicken. I ordered several orders of a single vegetable dish but they gave us so little. I think they count an order of pea shoots by number of leaves they give us: one order is 4 small leaves that were barely bigger than a kumquat? Vegetable portions were just too tiny it was ridiculous. Is Napa cabbage seriously more expensive than lamb you can only give 2 halves of palm-sized leaves per order? You have to try the spicy pot, the salty pork bone with winter melon, and the lamb skewer (very authentic, but not quite Xinjiang or Hui, which was what I was looking for, but good cuts of meat were used. The lamb is much better than the beef. Any meat cut can be grilled or put in pot, but only the ones labeled BBQ must be grilled, not put in hot pot. read more
