I highly recommend you do not come to this restaurant and if I could give it zero stars I would. I have been coming here since 2012 because I absolutely love the shrimp tempura rolls when made fresh despite the price. Tonight I ordered carry out for my mom and myself and informed that I had groupons for both orders. When I arrive at the restaurant they give me one bill, when I pull out the two vouchers the waitress says she can only do one. I explained that she can split the bill because it is two orders (5 shrimp tempura rolls, 3 for me and 2 for my mom, overall 40 pieces of sushi) and that my mom is with me so she can come in and pay for hers. The only reason she didn't come inside in the first place is because she didn't feel well enough to walk and wait standing up. So the waitress says she can't do that but she'll talk to the manager to see. Katie the manager whom I have previously dealt with a year before-
SN: -when they made my sushi wrong twice and then instead of offering me the third try of the food for free or some of it free she tried to sell it to me for 30% off after two mess ups, one including showering my sushi with sesame seeds which I'm highly allergic to and told them and I ate one before I realized(which I could have sued over but didn't because I love the sushi). Two being that I waited over an hour and a half for them to get my simple order right.
Back to what happened tonight...
So Katie comes over and says did you tell us you had groupons and I said yes and I also told them that it was two orders and the waitress on the phone never stated I couldn't use one of them on each order. She says well it says on the groupon one per person per transaction and I said I know that's why I told her to make it into two because my mom is paying for hers and I'm paying for mine. Katie states that her GM wouldn't like it if he saw that they turned one transaction into two so two groupons could be used. I stated that this doesn't apply to me because you guys didn't listen on the phone when I said it was two orders so it's not my fault if you have to explain to your GM, who apparently is her according to some of the staff but I don't know because when trying to get information to speak with someone above her about my experience I was told she was the GM so I'm not sure what's true, why you split a $50 order into two because you didn't listen to me when I called the order in. So Katie says I can just come back and use the second groupon my mom bought another day and I said that it won't be another time because I come here way too often and have spent way too much money to be treated so disrespectfully when it wasn't my mistake and if you can't call in and make it two bills that should have been told to me but because it wasn't I should have been told that they will do it this time but next time my mom and I or whoever must call separately and come separately.
I said to Katie that my mom can just come in and pay with the money she already gave me if that's the problem and Katie then said it doesn't matter if she comes in because it would still be two groupons going to the same household. I was like that makes zero sense and you can't dictate and nor does it state that two people from the same household can't use separate coupons on separate orders. Katie then walked away like it was resolved so I told the waitress to just ring up 3 (my half of the order because my mom no longer wanted hers based on the treatment) shrimp tempura and use the one coupon so now not only is the bill split but now you made 16 pieces of sushi for nothing because you didn't want to admit you didn't listen to me when I ordered.
I figure the GM or whoever will be more upset or wanting an explanation about why 16 pieces of sushi was wasted when it could have been bought. I love their sushi so much but the way they occasionally treat me, and by they I mean the manager Katie, I no longer want to buy their expensive sushi especially when of all the years I have eaten there I used a coupon/groupon twice, tonight being the second time. My money will be spent somewhere else that appreciates that I order $50 or more of food almost every weekend for years and only use coupons every once in a while. I personally would not want a manager that doesn't think about the customer and money that can be lost overall. Losing money, wasting sushi, and losing a customer should matter way more to whomever is the manager and to the restaurant in general, especially a long time and frequent customer who buys a ton of expensive food. This situation was handled poorly and not really handled and could have been totally different but looking at other reviews this is normal behavior for Katie. read more
