One of my favorite spots since I moved to MKE, and the smell of coffee is wonderful!!

The phrase things happen for a reason and there are no such Chance happenings? I scrolled thru emails yesterday and a Yelp email popped up with best new restaurants The photos and five solid stars from this newly opened gem gave me pause. So I acted on my gut and grabbed my foodie 21 yr old daughter for an impromptu lunch post workout all very unplanned. WOW!! Not only were we transported back to a similar modern Copenhagen-ish decor from a past trip to Denmark, but add to that a wicked clean menu that awoke our palettes from a post holiday exaggerated food gaffe. You don't realize how abused your tastebuds are until they are exposed to the sublime. I really like the space here. The people were nice. I came on a Sunday around noon and the place was alive with chatter. Almost rated a 4 because they were out of their signature drinks. ... the chaider and parfait made up for it. Definitely a chill place with good music. A good variety of seating upstairs whether you're by yourself or with a group. I'll be back for the signatures and to try more food when on the east side. read more

Small but mighty! Interval was introduced to me by a friend and boy am I glad! Great, intentionally sourced coffee with a warm ambience finally exist in Milwaukee. Interval is not just a typical coffee shop--what I love about this place is that it can be so many different things in one space. I have been here a couple times and both times were very different experiences. I first came here last August (back in the pre-COVID days) when they were having a pop up event sponsored by the Immigrant Project. When my friend and I arrived, we were not expecting there to be an event but decided to stay anyway and were so pleasantly surprised. They had their own specialized cocktail/food menu centered around their theme of equality and the immigrant story. We had great conversation with the bartender about the topic and the drinks were great! I really miss that. Today I came again with a friend to catch up over coffee. The safety precautions they have in place are very good. Patrons are not allowed in the building, but are asked to place their order at the storefront (or online) to be picked up at the front door. They do have outdoor seating for the time being as well. The staff was very friendly and cooperative. My friend ordered a "Chaider" apple cider chai tea mix and she loved it. I ordered a green tea (I believe they have Rishi tea in stock) and was also very satisfied. The location is also tucked away on a cute little corner in the East side. I definitely recommend stopping by Interval for coffee or drinks or even food. The best thing about this place is they have everything you may be looking for on a day or night out. When it's safe for us to be fully open again, I will be looking forward to what Interval will have to offer! read more

I've been twice since they've opened and I have to say this is a dynamite establishment. Pilcrow Coffee has been a long time favorite of mine and who knew that adding such innovative good would be the pairing we never knew we needed? The space is simple yet beautiful. While minimal,it gives off a cozy vibe and the dual level setup makes the space feel bigger than it is. The main counter is great though having only two small menus on it makes it a little awkward when there are more people looking to order. Otherwise, the space is fantastic and creates a pull to sit a while. The coffee drinks are phenomenal. A simple menu allows for what is offered to be refined yet still incredibly creative. My first visit, I went with the Sweet and Creamy nitro, with the second being the Spiced Chaider nitro. Both drinks are so smooth with fully developed flavors. Neither were too sweet nor too bitter. Perfectly balanced. My mother came with me the second time and got the Pistachio Latte. The Pistachio milk was thick and clearly hand made, the espresso was strong but not bitter, full bodies and a must for anyone who is looking for anyone who wants an espresso forward drink. Each drink was also the perfect drinking temperature, which can be a struggle for other establishments. I haven't tried too much of the food yet but the Oatly Parfait was out of this world. For a simple cafe to have this level of innovation put into their menu is such a breath of fresh air in the city. The texture was spot on with the oat component being creamy yet thick, but not overly so which allows for the house made granola to be mixed in easily. It's also not a cold dish, served at a nice neutral temperature that feels cozy and an easy eat for the chilly weather. I can't wait to try the other offerings at Interval and see what else is coming out of this chef's amazing mind. All in all, this is a phenomenal addition to the Milwaukee cafe scene. I went to interval for their Saturday night burger and wine pop ups and it was so enjoyable. They were very helpful with helping us find a wine we would like and it was very high quality! They came around and loaded up our fires frequently which was nice since it was chilly. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. I've also gone there during the day for coffee and I've always been really happy with their lattes. It's evident that they put a lot of thought and effort into their drinks. read more

Love this place so much. Great addition to the neighborhood and Milwaukee in general. Breakfast: The sausage biscuit is my go to and I also really enjoyed the beet toast. Of course the coffee is amazing but I usually go for tea, I like that they give you a pot of it vs a cup. I need to go for dinner sometime! Only suggestion, get more breakfast items! read more

Really good food and coffee, TERRIBLE service. Went to the third ward location and they were rude and unfriendly. waited 35 minutes for two meals while employees talked amongst themselves at the bar and ate. wish we could say it was because they were busy but there were a total of 4 other customers in the cafe. has potential to be a really cool spot for a quick bite and some coffee, but due to the lackadaisical attitude of the front of house staff, that doesn't seem to be happening any time soon. read more

Whether I am looking for a spot to work for the day or meeting with a few friends, interval is my go to. The Pilcrow coffee is always on point and I LOVE the seasonal nitro rotations (not to mention the awesome food specials). If you are looking for a cozy spot to grab a coffee, cocktail or bite to eat then interval is the spot for you. Not to mention the fact that the staff is always so pleasant and helpful. This was my first time to interval and I was so impressed! I'm sad I didn't check this place out pre-covid but I'm looking forward to coming here more often! My coffee and egg toast were delicious. Love this place! We just moved to the area and stumbled upon this gem. The staff are super friendly, accommodating, and have great suggestions. Due to corona we couldn't come in, but the staff met us outside to take our order. They have great coffee and also give you homemade dog treats! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. This is my son's favorite place to get his favorite coffee - Pilcrow. Now I finally got to try it. We got it to go so I can't review the cafe itself. The nitro cold brew is as good as he says. Sipping and supping at Interval was hands down the most exciting and friendly dinner experience ventured in Milwaukee this holiday season. Loved the casual, simple space so much we spent three hours making merry on a recent Saturday night. On the menu is a "Dealer's Choice" special that includes six different menu items (of your, or the chef's choosing,) several snacks, and two cocktails. Chef Travis's small plate dishes were delicious and inventive in the very best way (will admit we licked the Madeleines plate clean!) JC makes the best Manhattan in this world, and will tailor a cocktail to your specific tastes. Ending the evening with a (surprise!) pistachio coffee made from coffee roaster Ryan's Pilcrow beans was perfection in a cup. These guys know what they are doing in the kitchen, and are putting their heart and soul into making your tastebuds happy! read more

Very cute interior, nice place to study/work. Literally my only complaint is that parking in the area can be a nightmare, but that's hardly the fault of the shop. I've now made it to Interval in the evening, as well as daytime. After dark it's a very classy-casual place for a date night or evening with friends. Creative cocktails and very inventive food. Daytime includes classic craft coffee drinks from Pilcrow, as well as very creative cold/nitro drinks on tap. As good as the food/drinks are the friendly staff and atmosphere of the place. Once know as Pleasant Kafe, Interval is the new cocktail/coffee bar in MKE. The staff is great and warm, willing to strike up conversations and hang out with those around the bar. We came one night for cocktails, and they were all great. Stopped by to get some coffee, and the pour over is great. They have a PourSteady, which makes the greatest fresh cup of pour over coffee on has had. Although I haven't had the food, all the dishes coming out looked great and smelled just as good. I'm pleasantly surprised by Interval, and will be coming back several times in the future. read more

Tasting menu dinner review only, not the coffee shop. Coffee + breakfast is 5/5. It's a story of 2 men, Paul the mixologist, and Travis the chef. First, let me start with the best part of the night: drinks. Paul has a great talent for preparing Michelin star quality, well balanced, unique flavored drinks that you will not get anywhere else in town. Moreover, he is a humble guy, pleasant, and down to earth. Finally, I think this was the first time I had a drink with a clear ice cube in Milwaukee. So, Paul gets 5/5 stars. Travis, the chef is the "mastermind" behind the food. Let me say this, 3 is an average between food and everything else presented by this restaurateur. The ambiance and the kind way they treat their guests deserve 5/5 stars. For instance, both Paul and Travis took time to introduce themselves. Additionally, Travis sat down with us and explained the menu to us, dish by dish, which was a very nice touch. But all that doesn't change the fact that the food is only mediocre at best, which makes it 3/5 rating. And if you want to compare it to other restaurants of this caliber in the country (bc that's what they are comparing themselves to, as Travis didn't hesitate to advertise that he "worked" for top 25 restaurant in San Francisco), it's just a one star restaurant when it comes to food. But for Milwaukee's purposes, you can give it a 3. Form over content is the best way to describe it. The presentation was nice, with honest thought put behind each dish, but at the end of the day there was no flavor behind most of the dishes. Highlights: walnut syrup, quail egg with greens Everythings else not worth writing about. I really want them to be successful and do well, bc they do seem like honest, good people who care. I just hope Travis works on developing flavors, bc at the end of the day that's why we go to restaurants for tasting menus. He should take a few tips from his co-worker Paul, b/c he's figured it out. read more

I have been meaning to try this place out and I have never been so disappointed. First, they were out of everything we wanted to try, so we needed up with a vanilla latte and a vanilla lavender latte. While I was trying to pay a group of ppl walked in. Right behind me was a girl who seemed to be an employee/friend of the staff..my sister was to the side and saw her eye rolling because I was taking too long. I was taking out cash to tip, so apparently tips are not appreciated either because it was getting in their way to be able to socialize with each other. So if you are either an employee or friend of the staff you will be prioritized and treated great otherwise don't waste your money. Did I mention she got her drink first.
