I don't know why I've never tried this restaurant. My waiter Bradley truly understands the concept of customer experience. I started out with their queso and chips. This was anything but your standard melted cheese. It was more like a creamy asparagus and spinach dip. Totally awesome. Then I opted for their chicken sandwich. One of the best I've ever had. WOW! This place is delicious. My husband and I stopped here on the way back from a trip to Oklahoma and the food was amazing. Our family went out on a Friday night, they were not busy, so we decided to try it. I had the Tuna steak. Rice pilaf was unseasoned, steamed vegetables were from frozen and served cold. Here's the kicker...cheese sauce on the tuna!!! Who serves cheese sauce on tuna steak? Not good. My wife had a sandwich, which did not come with onion, but it had a 1"x 1" "cube" of onion on it. Not even sliced, or chopped, just a "cube". Obviously it found its way there out of carelessness. Just as did the whole mushroom in my daughters french fries. Subway put's Interurban's sandwiches to shame...at 1/3 the price. I noticed a man in the booth next to me took one bite of his burger, and put it down...never to touch it again. I don't know what was wrong, but for someone to do it tells a lot! However, the service was great. But it cannot make up for the bad food. Spent $100 for bland, poor quality food. HORRID. The worst first impression imaginable for a restaurant. Bland, overpriced and generally terrible. Attentive waitstaff, but the kitchen let's everything down with an almost superstitious aversion to any kind of seasoning. And calling obviously frozen Atlantic Cod "fresh" (hello? We're in Oklahoma) Btws... maybe your 'specials' should actually be special. Unlike those chunks of deep fried 'fresh' bland fish and a side of the most tasteless coleslaw ever. How do you drop the ball on coleslaw? Fries without salt? Our table was a condiment forest by the end. I honestly feel like we wasted time and money and I'm not even full. It is utterly ridiculous what you send out as food and charge people for. There is a very good reason why there is no wait or rush at 9pm on a Friday in a college town at your establishment. Nursing home food. Bland, overcooked and would be entirely forgettable if it hadn't had a distinctly disparate quality to price ratio. Our party of four is certainly never returning and will be warning whomever we can lest they experience the same disappointing, lackluster, and frankly embarrassing dining experience. I've been eating at Interurban on & off since they were located on Main Street. It's been years, but the new location is finally open @ Ed Noble! My family and I visited today, and I was pleased with the food. Big portions, so keep that in mind, but really tasty stuff. The fried cheese (so not healthy, so delicious) is a great starter and is way better than fried cheese sticks you get elsewhere. I had the Apricot Chicken which was perfectly grilled & had a yummy apricot sauce on it. They were very good about substitutions, my whole family is picky (except my mom, she got her Theta burger [which she loved] generic style, ha) and we all made all kinds of requests. My sis had the chicken pasta salad and liked it, and my grandma got a steak which she says was slightly overdone, but I think that's more due to her asking for it medium well rather than medium or medium rare (my preferred way to ask, because often places will overdo it no matter what). We were all pretty satisfied, though. The place is neat inside and very clean/new feeling but not sterile or anything. They have a great patio too, I just hope they use some kind of bug repellant devices or something since they're right near a lot of land that can get marshy. Anyway, I recommend Interurban! They still serve up the beer bread muffins they always have, still with a side of honey/cinnamon butter. Yum! read more

Had lunch there today. My wife had house salad and soup. Soup was very good, salad was average. My California club sandwich was excellent. Not impressed with their home made chips, overcooked and tasteless. Waitress was friendly and did a good job. Decor looks tired. We had to move to a different seat in the middle of our meal due to water dripping from an air duct onto my wife's back. It was obvious the condensation drip had been occurring for some time. Love this place! They have something on the menu for everyone and always creating new specials that are available! I have so many favorites I don't know where to start! The Chicken Fajita Nachos are out of this world. My husband love the espinaca queso which is free on Thursday nights this is enchilada night and we enjoy the seafood enchiladas which are like $6.99. The burgers are all so good..... The flamethrower, blue cheese and the theta are some of our favorite and you can get any burger with a side for $5 on Tuesdays! The pizzas are another great option which are available for like $5.99 on Mondays and two can share one and be full.... These aren't just regular pizzas they are specials like cheeseburger which is my favorite (we actually feel in love with IU over one of the pizzas which is a special and they will normally make it for you the taco pizza). The blackened tilapia is one of my favorite as well and we have a couple of friends that love the salmon. The okie pig is a sandwich that has been on the menu since the original IU opened in Norman in 1976 and it is still wonderful. Although we have never been to this locations Sunday brunch we hear it is wonderful with over 15 different entrees available. Next time you are in Norman check this little locally owned restaurant out it is surprisingly good and although the service can be slow at times if you let a manager know you are having a problem they will fix it ASAP and make sure you leave with a smile.... read more

I've eaten at this location several times, service isn't the best, but the food was decent. Had family in town so we decided to grab so e meals to go. When I arrives to pick up the food a waiter came out to get me to pay and said "unfortunately we no longer make the salad you ordered and I forgot to get your phone number when you placed your order so I wasn't able to call you back... Can I get you a different salad?" First off there are several problems here, but to save time and get to the point we'll skip the obvious. After changing my order he immediately brings out the other 3 meals (Dixie land bow tie pasta) still waiting on the 4th meal to be made while our other food is currently sitting in my car beginning to cool off. A manager then comes out to apologize (about 25 times) it eventually became very awkward. We get home, all dig into out meals and the 3 of us who ordered the pasta realize how BLAND it is! No flavor what so ever. It was noodles and dry chicken. I've eaten this meal every time we've visited and it never tastes like this or looked like it did. Soon after I inform my family this isn't right... Some brilliant cook had left all the sauce off ALL 3 pasta meals. So... I drive all the way back to just get a refund at this point. As I'm explaining everything to the hostess she and another waitress who walks up both look at out meals and say "what is that?" Greeaaat... They work here and don't even know what it is. I and two colleagues were on a business trip to Norman, OK and stayed in a hotel near the Interurban restaurant. My first review comment is for possible customers to stay away and find another restaurant. We went in on a Sunday evening and was confronted with a very inexperienced waitress. She had no knowledge of what was even available on the bar and gave us very poor service. I ordered their Cuban sandwich with chips and cole slaw instead of the french fries. The Cuban was tasteless (the waitress never offered any condiments for it). The cole slaw was also tasteless and not like any cole slaw I ever had. The homemade chips were greasy and not very tasty. The atmosphere of the restaurant was dim and depressing. There are a lot of more decent restaurants in the area and everyone should skip this one. Finally, we were seated next to the kitchen. I found random really good food items here over the years. For example, their queso is better than any Mexican restaurants I've visited. If you order burger or any dishes that come with a side, go with mashed potatoes. Their mashed potatoes are real and taste like the one your mom makes for Thanksgiving (or better). My husband loves burger day Tuesday because ALL burgers are $5.99. Considering their variety, quality, and the size of the burgers, I think this is a great deal. Sooner burger is no longer on the menu, but this is the best burger (according to my hubby). Ask the waiter anyway. The one last thing I really like here is fajita. It's surprisingly really good! I went there with a group of about 25 colleagues for a business lunch in late July 2011. A reservation had been made for our large group, so we were seated in a separate room. Despite a reservation having been made and there only being a limited menu of four or five items, the wait staff seemed thoroughly overwhelmed. It was a struggle to get even iced tea out to the table in timely fashion. The food was slow in coming; a couple of orders were served incorrectly. I ordered an almond-chicken entree and was not particularly impressed. Even if prepared adequately, it was bland, and the portion was not very generous. I did not pay for the meal, but I am guessing that the price is high because this is considered "fine dining" in Norman. It probably really deserves 2-1/2 stars, but I wanted to emphasize that it was somewhat less than average in overall quality -- hence a rating of two stars. I eat here with a group about every six weeks. We usually order the lunch special and have not been disappointed. If the special includes a side, just be aware that they charge extra for the most expensive sides (baked potato, sweet potato fries). Our server did not tell us, but I must say, when our bill arrived and we questioned the extra charge the manager took the charge off. We won't forget this kindness. One of our diners ordered enchiladas and they brought chips and salsa for the whole table (an unexpected treat). They also have a frequent diner club, hope I live long enough to cash in on it. We love the table in the back that seats eight for our usually large group. John F. who criticized the restaurant for seating them in the back needs to chill. They might not have fit into one of the booths. They have a daily special which is usually something off the menu and worth a try. They also have specials like $5 burger on Tuesday, which I am looking forward to trying. read more
