I will tell anyone that will listen about the this experience. I personally went to ABA twice to confront Brian. He would not return the text messages that my daughter would send him. The after hours drop off and pick up is seamless and really easy, which I appreciated. They charged $300 to diagnose, which seemed high, but I didn't want to tow my car to another shop, so I accepted that. They got my car back to me five days later, and the alternator worked great but a dash light had come on for a bulb which was not burned out. I replaced the bulb but the light persisted. I asked the shop about looking at it, and I was advised well, we'll run some tests, which sounded to me like another $300 diagnosis. So, the alternator repair was good, but now I have a permanent dash light on until I can find a shop to take it to. All in all, I'd say they are an OK shop.

After a week and a half they install the new transmission, but said there was something wrong so they kept working on it. Another week goes by and they say they need to order ANOTHER trans. At this point we are very frustrated as we needed this vehicle back 3 weeks ago. But I mean who knows what is really going on so we just hang tight. Finally, a MONTH later, we get a text that the trans was replaced and good to go but they didn't have time to fully fix the ac. Didn't have time? You had it for a month and decided until the last day to look at the AC. They replaced the blower motor but said they would have to take the whole thing out and didn't have time for it, so it was ultimately a temporary fix for a full charge. After asking for a price break down he gave us $150 off. Woopie after a $7,500 ordeal that didn't feel sufficient. They then charged our card for the second half of our bill after we explicitly said "we do not authorize this charge" and we also don't remember saying they could save the card on file..... if that wasn't all enough to make us never come back we then find out the tire was never fixed after it went flat on the road a few days later. To which the guy says "looks like I forgot" !!! Now the AC stopped working because again it was never actually fixed in the first place. Truly unacceptable from start to finish. They clearly do not care about doing a good job and just want your money. He asked us multiple times to pay the remaining balance before we even picked up the vehicle or had any work done. Avoid at all costs.

A mechanic you should avoid…read more I was referred to this mechanic shop by a friend who owns a car dealership in Hillsboro. I was told he has extensive experience with the electrical systems of older cars. As I was restoring a 1959 Mercedes 190SL, this morning on July 11th, I naturally visited this place. The job I had was relatively small and manageable. It was only to remove the fuse box and two additional connections, each with only four wires connected to them, from my old wiring harness and replace it with a new, identical harness, one with the same color-coded wiring. I drove over 25 miles and arrived at this shop 10 minutes past 9 in the morning, where I was greeted by one of the workers. He said the owner isn't there yet and will come in about 30 minutes, and I replied, ' Okay, I will be back around 10 O'clock. Meanwhile, a truck arrived, and I was informed that it belonged to the owner. Rob came, and I, with a smile on my face, said good morning to him. His answer was, "Why are you here?" We open at 10 AM. I said, 'If you want, I can come back at 10?' He asked why I was there. I explained and acknowledged that this should be a tiny and easy job for him. At the same time, I told him that, as a restaurateur and chef, one of my former customers who has a dealership in Hillsboro had recommended him. He spoke in a coarse voice and angrily looked at me, saying, 'No, it's not a small and easy job. You grab a few ingredients and put them on top of each other, and then you call yourself a chef.' It is a tremendous job. And at the same time, he said we are not working on any car older than the 1980s. I told him that, less than a month ago, someone on your Google Business page reviewed that you worked on his 1970 Chevelle Malibu. This time, he said to write down what car I have so he will find me another mechanic. I told him what my car was, and this time he came to the door and asked me to leave, repeating that he would find another person for me and contact me. I wondered and asked how he would do it without knowing who I am or my phone number. Anyway, I left and the only impression I got from this place and Rob is that the color of your skin, your hair, and your accent play an essential role in whether he accepts you as a new customer and does business with you or not. If Rob had been honest and refused to do my job because it was small or he was swamped, rather than the way he acted, I would have thanked him and left without giving him any bad reviews. They took it in and concluded that we needed a new alternator. They replaced the alternator and we picked up the car. On the drive home, the car completely stopped working while I was driving downhill on Burnside. (Everything stopped working: radio, a/c, lights.) I was able to pull into a driveway before everything went out (it happened over the span of about 15 seconds). Even after I pulled into the driveway, I couldn't put the car in park, turn on the emergency brake, turn on hazards, etc. It was a very scary and unsafe position for me to be in. I called the auto shop and they said they couldn't get to me for half an hour, but they gave me a number to call for a towing service they work with. I called the number and the towing company couldn't get to me for an hour. I called back the auto shop and updated them on the situation. Someone from the auto shop came and took over holding down the brake in the car and waiting for the towing service. They then were able to take it back to the shop and they learned that there was a visible crack in the negative port of the battery and that is what was causing the problem. We decided to take the car home and fix the issue ourselves because it was actually a very simple thing to fix and we had lost trust in this auto shop. They did eat the costs of the new alternator and the towing service. But the fact that they didn't realize that the crack in the battery port thing was the problem before they put in a new alternator was very disappointing and if I didn't react faster, it could have put me and others in lots of danger. I will say the service was great. The people I talked to on the phone and at the auto shop were all very sweet and until my car stopped working, I was planning on giving them a 5-star review.

I considered going to the Subaru dealer in Beaverton but I gravitated to Brock Automotive because of their stellar, glowing reviews. Glad I did. First, scheduling online is easy and they text you confirmations and reminders. They also respond to texts quickly and efficiently. Note that you will likely need to drop off your vehicle as they are very busy - another good sign! - and though I needed to leave my Subaru overnight, the repairs were done in a reasonable amount of time for the services required. What I also like is their system of 'needs attention, could wait, and doesn't need work' that is color-coded on their estimate sheet by Red, Yellow, and Green; as well the costs for the repairs are clear on that sheet. You can then decide what you want done, approve it, and they will begin the work on your car. My estimate is just what I paid, so zero surprises. Immediately walking in to their shop office, I was greeted cheerily and nicely by Coy--I felt comfortable and relaxed. Picking up my car, I was greeted by an owner, who was equally as cheerful and nice. My car was waiting for me right out front when I exited the office - everything was clean just as I'd left it.
