As a retailer, I am sure that they have a relationship with manufacturers, to facilitate issues with them, when their products don't meet their own standards. It's called CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'm such a fan of this store and chain! Whenever I need batteries, I head directly here. Living in a condo where the HOA requires flood stops anywhere there is a water pipe, and smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide detectors, I need a lot of batteries!!! Yearly. Yesterday I stopped in to replace the battery on my Dyson V7 Animal stick vacuum. The original lasted three years and then it started shutting off after just a five minute run, then wouldn't take a recharge. The replacement is $100. Yikes! But I use it daily to clean up the cat hair and can't live without it. Called first to make sure they had it in stock. They did. And they even installed it which took a little effort since the battery is screwed in. Appreciate that service! The service here is always friendly and efficient. And while it's definitely a sell up, they always ask if I need batteries, and usually prompts my memory. This day was no different as I had just used up a box of C batteries to replace all my flood stops. So thanks for the reminder! I bought another 12 pack. In addition to batteries if all types, even car batteries, they have a large variety of bulbs, as the name indicates. When I lived in a house that had a lot of outdoor lighting, they always had the specific bulbs I needed when others didn't. They also fix cell phones, replace cracked glass and repair other electronic devices. Also make spare keys and key fobs. Good to know! When you get your receipt they give you a coupon for 10% on your next purchase. Save it. Use it. For my $100 Dyson battery replacement, it equated to $10 which paid for the 12-pack of C batteries. I was just checking to see if I needed a battery for a key fob. he immediately took it to the back and said battery was dead. so I brought a new battery. he just took it to the back and came out with my key fob. he never gave me the new battery and I didn't see him take out the old battery and insert the new one. I didn't ask him to change the battery. I only wanted to buy a new one. I have had 5star***** great service at this batteries plus before. and I even gave them a new expensive battery a few years ago because I didn't need it. so 5stars + 0 stars equals 2.5 starts but I rounded to 3 stars. please ask people what they want. don't do something they didn't ask you to do. even if you think you are doing them a favor. Who knew what this gem had to offer?!? I sure didn't until recently and am so grateful they are close to me. In case you are in the dark, just like I was, they even have repair services like laptop, cell phone, MP3 and tablets. And when they say batteries.....whoa! Like any type of battery you need they will have it! Of course, I found them out for a completely different reason. So, I bought my house 15 years ago and the people who owned it previously had a ridiculous collection of burnt fluorescent tubes - no joke - I swear, the whole garage was full of these things. We suspect they used to use the garage to grow a certain plant which is now legal which would definitely explain some things BUT ANYWAY... I went through QUITE the ordeal to recycle them responsibly but, again, this was 15 years ago! Btw - CFLs (fluorescent tubes etc) contain a small amount of Mercury which is toxic FYI. So do not put these into your trash! Here I am going through my garage and WHAT?!? Explain to me friends how our spouses find these little sneaky hiding places for things which do not need to be hidden. Like, no really - I wanted to recycle ALL of those tubes. Did I mention that this "clean and reorganize" project had started as everything non-essential and then some closed down because, of course it did (I am still working through that never ending to do list). I know you haven't heard that we are going through a pandemic but we have a lot going on and OF COURSE this is when I need to get rid of things. I started hunting the internets and Batteries Plus came up as a recycler which VERY much confused me...battery...light bulb? I called to see if they were even, in fact, open and what to do. Sure enough I was told that they do accept them and it is $0.99 per tube/bulb for them to recycle. Whoa! Right down the street from my house also - I DO NOT remember it being even remotely that easy or cheap back 15 years ago! Even better - I walk in (and keep in mind that most businesses still open at the beginning were a mess trying to figure out distancing versus helping their customers). I came into the store and there were a couple waiting and someone being helped. One of the folks who worked there looked at me fast just asking if I needed just to recycle the lights. When I said yes, holding my six fluorescents, he asked that I just leave them on the counter, they were not even going to charge me and to have a great day! WHOA! That was the day to recycle! Not that I would have minded paying the $6 at all but still! But now you know....this isn't JUST where you get all your battery needs taken care of. read more

Came in for a car battery on a Sunday, the staff were super helpful, very straightforward, friendly, and helpful - one of them even insisted on carrying the battery out to my bike. I went back inside to see if they had any rope to tie it to my motorcycle, and even though they didn't, like three employees looked around for some and brainstormed together to see if they could think of something that would work. Friendly and helpful employees, nice size store, and the prices were cheaper than an auto parts store (and a better battery and warranty than the auto parts store). All in all, great experience. I've visited Batteries Plus on several occasions over the last few years. Sometimes they have what I need, sometimes not, so it's hit or miss, and that's ok. What isn't ok is the often luke warm service. Salespeople seem too often to be misinformed, rushing, sometimes impatient, and always trying to upsell. The mix does not invoke feelings of comfort, trust, or confidence that I'm getting the best product for my circumstance. The focus seems to be less on the customers and more on selling. Anything. The Canyon Road store is quite small and chock full of product, so it's not always easy or comfortable to browse, especially if there are other customers in the building at the same time. As well, I always feel like I'm being watched. That said, my recommendation is to get your common batterie and lights elsewhere, and save Batteries Plius for the one-offs. Chances are good that if they don't have it, Amazon will. read more

Went into store to have my car battery and alternator on my 2019 Mazda checked. Ended up buying a replacement battery after store associate Jacob ran all the tests. Jacob was professional, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. He explained in detail every step of the way. Never once tried to upsell me on the replacement. Very courteous to my wife and me. I've been buying here for many years. To address a one star reviewer's issues, I tend to patronize local businesses that provide excellent customer service versus saving a few pennies at a big box store. Russ, the store manager is great and is happy to discuss issues and answer questions over e-mail which is rare in my experience. They usually have what I need in stock and the quality of the brands they sell has so far been good. The only negative is that the place always seems to be mobbed and even though they have a lot of employees, you really do feel rushed when you're talking to someone there. I took a star off for that although if they weren't such a good business to deal with, they wouldn't be so crowded... read more

Lifesavers! That's what this place and their employees are! Last week I had a battery die at work and after getting jumped, I drove straight to this store. Jacob was kind and helpful and reassured me throughout the process. Trevor was legit. This guy faced the incredible challenge of removing the old battery and replacing it. Said I needed a 12volt cigarette plug adapter for a 12volt/120volt Nitecore battery charger. Be gone a week on a hunt and no 120v to recharge batteries. Guy says cool, I got you covered. Takes my charger, plugs it in with adapter and it works. (I didn't see exactly what he plugged into it...apparently my downfall) Boxed it up and I was out the door. In the middle of the woods...break out the charger and the box...it's a 120v plug, not a 12vdc as I had asked for. Short Version: This store first did a bait-and-switch of a battery, and then was belligerent about the return. It was an awful awful experience. Long Version: It started so-so. Husband and I wanted to get replacement batteries and hoped to favor a local business over online. So we decided to try Batteries Plus Bulbs. We were swiftly scooped up by an associate (not our preferred shopping style, but we don't like to be rude), who showed us a model on the shelf. While I made small talk my husband quietly read the specs on the battery and confirmed that it would do. Off went the associate to get the batteries from the back, and back he came with a completely different model. When asked, he said that it was the exact same specs as the floor model, though the battery itself did not list any specs. Against the warnings in our head, we paid and took it home. We looked up the actual specs of this specific model of battery and searched discussion boards for experiences. The results were bad - not only was this model rated half the capacity of the model on the shelf, but they had charged twice the online rate. The only online resource that matched the store's claims was Batteries Plus Bulbs own site; all other sites, including the manufacturer, were much lower. So we went back two hours after our purchase to return it. That's when things got ugly. When asked by the cashier (new fellow) why the return, we explained that we could not independently confirm that the model the previous associate sold us was the equal of the shelf model. Just to be safe, we decided to not use it. We were nice about it, but to our surprise....he argued. He believed that we, and the internet, were wrong and their computer records were right. He questioned our knowledge and competency and became belligerent at my husband. It was almost personal - as if he wanted to one-up my husband in front of me and the other customers. My husband tried to extract himself from the argument and say "we don't care to argue the facts; we did not use this battery and your return policy states we can return it - so process the return", but the cashier was determined to...well, I'm not sure what he was after. Eventually he did the return, but continued to make snide comments to my husband and "can you believe this guy" faces to me. I have read elsewhere that this chain has a reputation for being difficult about returns. So I don't know if the cashier felt under extreme pressure from his supervisor, if he is an unpleasant guy all around, or if my husband looked like a guy who once stole his girl. But I don't suppose it matters. From the pushy, oily start to the belligerent, antagonistic finish, this was an awful experience, and our first experience with Batteries Plus Bulbs will be our last. read more

I was lost without my cell phone and was worried about the cost to replace it. I remembered what a terrific experience I had at Batteries Plus Bulbs and so gave them a call. CJ answered the phone and assured me he could help. He said "we are here to solve your problem". I went in and he couldn't have been nicer. He checked out the phone made some adjustments and replaced the battery and charger. I was thrilled! He was very patient and kind to this old lady. The day i was here there was a sort of comedic duo of employees. One was sullen and slow, a real grey cloud of a man, but the other was bubbly and energetic and cheerful. I almost laughed out loud at the contrast. Anyway, i walked in, approached the nearest employee, and explained that i needed a battery for a specific device (i knew the model number, i'm sure that helped). He spent about 30 seconds at a terminal looking it up, then got the battery for me. He even pulled out a rebate form and filled in all of the product details for me so all i'd need to do is put in my name and address and mail it in. I can't say i'd ever come here for AA batteries (or lightbulbs, apparently they sell lightbulbs now), but for anything more exotic, this'll be my go-to shop. read more

Quick Solution to Cell Phone Issue! I dropped my cell phone on the kitchen floor - the back broke off - the battery went flying. I put the phone back together. However, I noticed my phone was no longer charging. So, we stopped by the store to see if we could resolve the problem. A nice fella named Matt helped us. He removed the battery and tested it. It was defective. So five minutes and $39.99 later, we walked out with a new battery and the phone fully functioning. Easy solution - great service - low cost! read more

I was quoted by the Apple store for an 800$ fix after having some damage to my phone as the result of being in water. I took it into the store and told an employee (I believe he said his name was Rad or Red?) the situation that I was in and he told me he would open my phone for free to take a look. I had some visible water in my camera and charging port and he cleared those out for me and even cleaned the camera. He advised me to leave my phone open and allow it to air out and gave me thorough directions on how to close and reseal it when it was done. First let me say that Batteries Plus was able quickly to replace the screen on my Samsung S4 (my work phone) and likely did it for the lowest price available in my area. I dropped the phone off at their store at noon and by 4:00PM it was ready for me to pick up. Now the part that PISSED me off and made me feel like I was being taken advantage of. When I broke the screen on my Samsung S4 (my work phone) I was at work, so I got on the computer there and went to batteriesplus.com to see how much that might charge to replace the screen on my phone. Their web site told me that it would cost me $99.99 with a $10.00 discount if I scheduled my repair on-line. I wanted to check out some other options so I didn't scheduled the repair at that time. The following day I checked out my other options and found out that Batteries Plus appeared to still be the least expensive, so I got out me personal cell phone (an iPhone 6s) and got onto the batteriesplus.com web site again to schedule an appointment. To my surprise the price had jumped from $99.99 to 119.99, a full 20 BUCKS! I decided to head back home to use my personal computer to check it all out again, and once again the web site quoted me $99.99 for the repair, so I went ahead and scheduled the repair right then and there, so as to get my $10.00 discount. After scheduling my appointment I went back into the web site only to find the price had once again jumped back to $119.99! When I finally got into the store I told the person behind the counter about my on-line experience and the "alternating" price of my repair, he said it is dependent on the store that is associated with the repair, and that my actual repair price would be $119.99 and not the $99.99 I had hoped for. I told the counter person that that didn't seem to be really fair or even a good business practice, and he said he would pass that information along, presumably to some higher up; but other than that he didn't really seem to care about my concerns and frustration. In my opinion, Batteries Plus needs to be consistent on their web site or at very least not quote any pricing until they know what store you will be using. I really felt as if I had been a victim of a "Bait and Switch" program. read more

Bought a car battery because they would install in about 20 minutes. Bought battery online and arrived at store 20 ,minutes before closing and was told they will not install. No other customers, no reason why not besides it would take 20 minutes. Nowhere does it state that I needed to be there before a certain cutoff. Told the associate that the only reason I bought the battery from them was because they would install it for free and that no where do they mention the policy that if it close to closing they will not install. read more

Had an issue with my iPhone that appeared to be failing battery. Made an online appointment (same day) with this Batteries Plus Bulbs location and came on in. The tech asked a couple of questions about the symptoms and said it didn't sound like the symptoms of battery failure and suggested it might be just lint in the connector. Though it's been taking a charge, he went ahead and cleaned the connector and boom - I am back in business. No charge (pun intended). They need to train their employees in customer service, especially Trent. Although the screen replacement looks fine and the price was fair, I will never go back to this place and I will let everyone I know that they should go elsewhere. There are plenty of businesses that replace phone screens and all of the prices are comparable, so make sure to choose one that decides that their customers are important and treats them with respect. read more

After a full life of be active, I have found myself almost completely confined to a mobility scooter for about a year now. You never realize (or at least I didn't) how much you can become dependent on one, therefore, when you are in need of batteries for these things, you need someone that has the smarts enough to help you instead of just making a sale.
