Past reviews led me to believe this might be a good shop, but maybe I caught them on a bad day. One guy working alone. No greeting /acknowledgement or explanations by the employee as he walked by me several times & began working on a car nearby. When I realized no one else was there, I asked if they SOLD batteries separately (what I wanted) or only as installed product. He said they did and went back to working/said he'd 'be with me when he was finished'. There were no prices on the batteries & he seemed pretty intent on not making eye content so I left after 5 minutes. Went up the street to Napa, self served from their battery section and walked out with 2 batteries for my Ford diesel in about 5 minutes. read more

I have lived by this location for 15 years so I drive past it almost every day. I had never needed to use them since I have never had a battery die of natural causes before. Imagine my surprise to discover on Sunday that very thing! Monday morning I used my roadside assistance to get a jump start on my car and I was genuinely nervous not know how it works or how long it would take etc - especially in the modern Covid-19 climate where one tries to be respectful to them. I try to follow the signs posted and be mindful of their space and mine but this is basically this weird little open building with cars in the parking lot, a few staff members and vehicles inside with the doors open etc. I slowly approached and one of the super nice folks working there greets me immediately in my parking spot. I tell him my battery was dead and I got a jumpstart to get there so I probably needed them to replace my battery. He directs me to repark into the garage - basically one parking space over. I do just that and pop the hood. Apparently one of the cells of my battery has died - not too shabby since my car is 7 years old. $110 for a five year with guarantee battery and he took MAYBE ten minutes. I just sat in the car and his coworker rang me up no sweat while I waited. My jaw was on the ground since it was so easy and it feels like nothing is ever that easy so you are just waiting for something negative... So, here are the negatives...which, really is fine... First - I forgot about the coupon but don't know if it's a thing because... They have on the main website a $10 off coupon but the coupon says it expired 6/26/2020 so I am not sure if you can use it and they will accept it or not. I was so scattered when I went to them that I completely forgot to even mention the coupon. But, again, give it a try but I cannot say whether or not they will honor it. The only other negative is that I have no clue as to their hours having got there in the afternoon. I intended to get there right at opening which did not happen because reasons BUT when trying to make arrangements to get there right at opening I discovered that their hours show completely different on the website and Google plus when you can and get their voicemail it has other different hours. So I have no idea if they open at 8, 830 or 9am.... When they are open though - they are fabulous and efficient...and that is the truly important part and where many places fail. read more

I had some problems with the store manager being highly disrespectful towards me. Turned the matter over to the General Manager who I have every confidence will handle this on his end. This review is more about the Battery X-Change franchise in Portand than it is about this specific location. I have a fairly rare Corvette that needed a battery replacement. The last one (a Sears Die-Hard) lasted over 15 years so I wanted something similarly durable. Contacted Battery X-Change via their web site contact form and received a response fairly quickly, from the General Manager no less! John suggested several battery options. I arranged to have the top of the line option installed. At $300, not very inexpensive but Battery X-Change included free installation for the same price that battery would have cost if I bought it from the Manufacturer and installed it myself. Spec-wise, the Odyssey AGM battery they installed is about as good as it gets. The installation is not difficult but it is tricky. There is a youtube video that shows how to do this. Their guy had some problems figuring out how to remove the battery and I suggested to his manager that they stop, have a look at the video and then go ahead. The manager repeatedly ignored me and when the mechanic pulled out a floor jack and wanted to jack the Corvette up (which is a huge no-no) I asked to speak to the General Manager. First, the manager ignored me. Then he said the GM was "in a meeting". I said, then page him. he refused. I had to get downright aggressive to get them to stop work and make the call which he finally did. The GM was already watching the youtube video by the time I talked to him. John took charge of the situation and I was down the road with a new battery about a half hour later. John and I debriefed over the phone a few hours later and I was satisfied and highly impressed with Johns professionalism and customer/management skills. He sent me a nice little gift a few days later. The only real negative here (other than the store manager insulting and ignoring me) was that if I owned Battery X-Change I would worry that the place would fall apart if John ever left the company. It was great for me as a customer that John is such a hands on guy but as a business owner I would have to have everyone on my team doing their jobs without needing the GM to ride herd on everything. In any case, my experience at this store location was extremely unacceptable and this would have been a one star review if John hadn't done such an amazing job before, during and after the sale. I have been a loyal Interstate Battery customer for years. But Battery X-Change carries high end batteries that IB often does not so I will be using Battery X-Change again. I will most likely be going to the Hillsboro store moving forward though. Battery X-Change has high quality batteries at competitive prices. And I'm sure they can install them without problems in most vehicles. And if you do experience a problem with an employee at this location I would strongly recommend that you buck the problem up to the GM so that he can take care of it for you. read more

I went in because my car was not starting intermittently. Even through the battery was only 3 years old, I figured the battery just need to be replaced. Sal did the free diagnostics and told me the battery was fine, just drained from lack of use. (We drive this car very little these days). Sal gave me a loaner battery so he could charge up my battery over night for free! I picked it up the next day and now it's working well. I got a great deal on a home charger so I can keep the battery healthly while our son is at school. Working with Sal was getting help from a friend or relative. I will be going to Battery X-Change in Beaverton for all my battery needs! read more

This place was on my ay home from work, so I pulled in and had my battery and alternator checked and then battery replaced in less than 15 minutes! Blah, my car died. AAAGH. I hate my car - well, I hate when my car does anything but run. So the AAA guy told me it was my starter & my battery. Second AAA guy who replaced my battery confirmed this. Then the AAA tow truck driver shows up to drag my useless four wheel contraption to a fixer-upper place that AAA told me to go to....and says, if it's the starter let's just go to Battery Exchange. Of course my internal brain thought was I DON'T NEED A BATTERY...but I waited for a further explanation. He said all they do is batteries, starters & alternators. And they'd do it fast. Allright, let's try 'em out. Dropped my car off at 5ish Thursday. First call from them was it was just wiring & it's all fixed. YAY! Wait no, it was really the starter - but they called to ask if it was cool to proceed instead of just doing it without telling me the cost. I super appreciate that & they even checked out anything else before just replacing the alleged starter. I say alleged because it WASN'T starting anymore. To boot, Troy (the guy on the phone) was really nice & their service was so fast. While I wasn't pleased to pay any money on that damned car, their quote was totally within what I actually paid. So five stars for taking care of my stupid car headache quickly and NOT ripping me off! read more

You have to love a business that is entirely focused on doing one thing, and doing it exceptionally well. That's Battery Exchange. Polite, the small shop is clean. customer oriented, clear explanations. The entire process was fast. I learned how to test batteries and alternators, it's simple and do it at home by the way. I was extremely lucky, my battery was on the verge of failing badly. It's especially ironic that the Beaverton Battery Exchange is in a tiny bright yellow building that was a gas station of long ago, when gas stations did repairs and maintenance to make money rather than sell sodas and beer. This should be the first place anyone goes for a new car battery. My wife's car needed a new battery, and I started making the rounds to find a good price along with installation. Started at NAPA in downtown Beaverton. They checked the battery strength (super nice folks there) and told me I definitely needed one. They quoted $160 without installation. Then, when to Jiffy Lube. They wanted me to wait 40 minutes just to see if they had the battery I needed. I balked at that, so they were nice enough to quickly check their inventory and then they told me they didn't carry the size I needed. They recommended that I go to Battery X-Change, and boy am I glad. I pulled up around 11:55am, and they were able to check the battery and install it in under 15 minutes. And, the price was $25 less than NAPA quoted for just a battery (no installation). I am telling everyone I know to go to Battery X-Change whenever they need battery or alternator service. Manager was somewhat friendly- Tech who installed the battery not friendly at all. I asked them to use a memory saver for car setting. They hooked one up but never checked that is was working. After battery install, power windows didn't work, radio settings were gone and other driving settings gone. Tech did nothing to help with any of this. This business has actually been here for about 50 years according to the owner, and sells only car batteries and also related things. Last week my car coasted in there just as the mechanic was getting in his car to leave at the end of the day. He turned around and opened the place up and put the testers on the battery and stuff and determined the battery was fine but it needed a new alternator. My car spent the night and it was ready by lunch the next day. The owner was also there and seemed like a very nice man, who apparently has spent much of his life at the place. read more

On Sunday my son's 1992 Volvo Turbo Wagon wouldn't start for the second time in a week. A friend had suggested that I contact the Battery Exchange in Beaverton. I called thinking they would be closed and no one would answer, when JJ answered the phone and informed me they would be open until 4p....on a Sunday!!!! I followed my son over there and JJ looked at the Volvo and said that the Alternator wasn't charging the battery sufficiently. He made a phone call to a parts person (they didn't have the part in stock) and told me he could have it there first thing in the morning. We left the car there in what JJ described as secured space and today (Monday) at about 11:30 or so received a confirmation call from JJ that the car was ready. I really can't comment as to whether the price was competitive, but for the part and labor it was $260.00. JJ was very impressive and really knows his stuff. This is a small place with two bays and fantastic service. I consider myself somewhat of a service freak and highly recommend the Canyon Road Battery Exchange! read more

Awesome customer service. My alternator went bad, like totally dead. While enroute to Battery Exchange, my fully charged battery (New battery) drained and left the car on the side of the road. Brian, who by the way is a really nice guy, loaned me a battery to get me to the shop. The service was excellent, the problem was fixed and it was the exact cost that what was quoted. I left my lights on my truck for over a week. Needless to say when I returned from vacation my battery was about as dead as it gets. I left a charger on it for a couple hours, enough to get started. But over the next couple days I could tell that it wasn't starting as rapidly as it normally does. Well crap, the battery was over 5 years old so I figured I had just toasted it. I stopped into Battery Xchange on Broadway/Canyon Rd in Beaverton to bite the bullet and replace it. They tested it and said it just needed more charging, beyond what my alternator could do. I took it home and left a charger on it for several more hours per their instructions and viola! My battery is performing like new! Who does customer service like this anymore?! ESPECIALLY in the automotive realm?!! They could've sold me a $120 battery and I would've been 100% satisfied. But they took the honest route and told me the truth. The guys who were working yesterday were awesome. They ordered me a battery and I came to get it installed today. Unfortunately the guy I saw today...Worlds apart...JJ is very, very angry and threw me attitude and condescension from the moment I drove up. I asked him to kindly be more professional as I was just coming back since he himself left me a voicemail this morning saying my battery was in and ready. But he repeatedly kept asking me questions like "Who was working here yesterday?" "You're who?" "What battery? What are you talking about?" Then he said, "What car is the battery for? THIS car?" He almost accosted me with a power tool right in front of the other customer who was in her car with her jaw dropped, shocked at this guy's attitude. I don't know what his problem was, but I have NEVER posted a review like this on here. This guy needs to be avoided like the plague. My battery was doing the frankenstein shuffle Jump started fine,and would hold a charge well enough to restart. So long as villagers didn't show up with pitchforks and firebrands to chase me away for several hours before starting my car up. Or just going to sleep. Now I was about to go to Les Schwab, its like 10 blocks from my house they're quick and reasonably priced. But I always prefer to support local mom and pop stores over massively monopolizing corporate conglomerate bastardized box store sellout whoremongering warehouses like Les Schwab, even if it costs me a few dollars more (which it didn't) and in this case about 15 minutes drive time. (Win some you lose some) So now that I'm finished stroking my Ego and telling an idiotic metaphor.... here is my review! I pulled up was immediately greeted by the owner. I told him I need a new battery, and the first thing he does is test my battery on the off chance that maybe I dont know what the heck i'm talking about and just like giving money away to strangers. 1 minute later, satisfied that I do in fact need a battery he quotes me a price of 88$ for a battery that would of cost me 112+parts at Les Schwab. (Parts being code for tools that I apparently need to purchase for their technniciain to use in order to remove my old battery. Trust me this has happened before) with a 3 year warranty. I take my dog for a short little walk come back 5 minutes later and he's already replaced my battery and helped another customer. And is talking to a 2nd customer who has just arrived. He immediately excuses himself so that he can finish his business with me, that being the business of me paying him and going on my merry way a very satisfied customer. read more

Wow - Pat is the mgr. at this location and he will fix you right UP. I called them AFTER Les Schwab quoted me 147.50 for a new battery for my chevy colorado truck. I called this store immediately after hanging up with Les and they quoted me 85.00. I pulled up to the store 30 minutes later....Pat greeted me and he and his worker tested my battery, said it was JUNK......did an alternator test to make sure it was operating fine.....in the new battery went....I paid and was OUT of there and all in less then 25 minutes. I can't say enough great things about Battery Exchange. Pat isn't the type to use a lot of colorful adjectives in his conversation....but who cares. He knows BATTERIES !! After stressing the entire day about it, i was able to just drive into battery exchange and they changed it "faster than a mcdonalds drive through" just as they promised!
