I stopped by Battery X-Change, at 20th and Belmont to have them diagnose a minor issue. A sign said they're closed (possibly for renovation, possibly for good?), and directed me to their sister location, Northwest Battery Supply, a few blocks east. The staff at NW Battery couldn't have been more helpful. They ran tests to see how much of a charge my battery would take, and ultimately gave me a loaner while they put my battery on a more industrial strength charger overnight. I'm happy to say that they fixed my problem, and that they stand behind their products. I got great advice for maintaining the life of my battery, and I'm happy to have these folks serving SE Portland. read more

Went in via good reports online. Went in got service right away. I said I have battery that is over six years old and failing us. Told service tech just wanted a reconditioned battery as do not know how long we will keep car. He said let's check condition of battery first. He ran a battery test, and confirmed our need of new battery. We ended up with a sis month guaranteed battery. For a more than reasonable price for all the work they did. Kyle did an excellent job of fixing me up with a new battery at a very reasonable price. The one I've gotten a few years ago was getting a little weak so he did a warranty exchange for a small price and now I've got an 84 month battery and I got to say the service was excellent, Kyle is a good communicator really knows his stuff and his focused on taking care of the customer. Northwest is top notch. I had them get two Lithium batteries for my RV. They took pictures before removing the existing batteries and did a superb job of installing the replacements. They double checked the wiring several times during the install. Took my battery in for a check after getting a thumbs down at AutoZone. NW Battery said the battery was serviceable with no latent defects. They said their standard replacement was well below the cranking amps of the one I had. That is enough information to save $140, thoroughly clean the battery terminals and reinstall. I must agree with the other glowing reviews of Northwest Battery Supply. I had not read any of them prior to deciding to submit this review after an excellent encounter with the owner and/or manager, (Keith) and staff. I came in with a 2014 Sonata hybrid that was not starting occasionally and needed a diagnostician that could determine if the problem was in the alternator, battery or other issues. Keith attended to me personally and in a very caring manner explained his analysis and suggested we charge the battery to investigate further. When the battery was fully charged and driven for a few days I returned to see if it held the full charge. Long story short he quoted me a very fair price for a new battery installed and did all of the diagnositics for free, charging only five bucks for an all day charge. If you want a fair price and staff that really focus on your problem and take time to make sure it's done right, this is the place to go! read more

Im not typically a Yelper and am usually not a fan of this platform. But today I feel compelled to do so because I had a truly wonderful experience at Northwest Battery Supply. I pulled in and within minutes was greeted. I usually go here for battery purchases but coincidently my current one didn't come from them. Regardless, the staff was happy to help and right away. James took the time to not only access the issue but immediately started correcting it. He didn't act annoyed or seem inconvenienced. He showed me what was wrong and had a great sense of humor. All in all, I was out in an hour with what I needed and the peace of mind that I would get home safe. Needed a battery for my lawn mower, of all things. The problem was, we had bought it 10 years ago in Vermont and the company that makes them is in....Vermont. Shipping a 20 pound battery that already cost $100 was not the best option. When I realized the one 'special mower battery' was actually two generic 12v batteries I started hunting around. Long story short, called NWBS and described what I needed. The guy on the phone knew exactly what I needed and had them in stock. I headed down there and got a higher amp/hour battery than the original and the guy even told me how to hook the leads back up so I didn't blow myself up. Got them home, stuck them in the machine and cut the entire yard without any loss of power. For about the same price as batteries online and 1/3 less than if I'd bought them from the mower place, I got to talk to a human in person and actually check the batteries to make sure they fit. I am so happy I went here! I needed a new battery for my car and after calling around they were the cheapest by far. Kelly diagnosed the problem to make sure it was the battery and not the alternator and took out the battery and tested it for me. As expected I needed a new battery (he even showed me that was what the computer said). He installed my new battery in my car for free and cleaned up all the corrosion. Bought a battery here and it died one week later. Would no longer take a charge. Gaynor's Salmon Creek in Vancs (where I took my truck when my "new" battery from Northwest died) explained that it was a no-brand remanufactured piece of crap and that you should always go with top name brand batteries. Lesson learned and will never go to Northwest again! read more
