I have gone here twice for batteries, once with my old car and once with my new car. Both times the batteries were fairly priced, as was instillation ($15 compared to $30 and up or I'd have to install it, elsewhere). They cleaned up the connections and corrosion and didn't charge me a core charge, since I was exchanging my battery with them. Other places, where I would have to do it myself, required me to take the battery home, install it, return my battery to the place I bought it, wait in line again, turn in the core, get my $15 or something, and drive back home. The convince of being at ABE is all that was taken out of the equation and for difference of price to, for example Costco, my time was and also freezing in the cold putting the battery in, was saved. I hadn't had to buy a battery in a while and was surprised how much they had gone up in price. At least double if not, triple what they were four years ago. This place had great service and great prices, but you had to ask for their best deal.The battery they didn't stop they had it the next day and it saved me like 30% of anywhere else for a good battery. A year ago my 80 year old Dad spent around $1000 having the wiring redone here. Even after all that work the pickup still had a lot of problems.. We finally took it back about a year later even though we lost the receipt. ABE Auto found the invoice for us and they made it all good. They do quality work here. And customer service is excellent. My only issue was not finishing the job on time, requiring a return trip the next day. This inflated my labor charges. Not cool. 6 hours to do 4 hours of work, and it took 8? Questionable. Returned for a missing cable and final hookup, nailed with more labor charges, .5 hr for 20 mins. in June 2023 I took my 2015 Accord to ABE in Clackamas, as it had some type of drain on the battery. They diagnosed the issue as being the aftermarket alarm, and said they disconnected it. Cost $413. Worth it, if that solved the issue. I just left it disconnected. I continued to struggle with a battery drain throughout the summer. ABE obviously had neglected to check that the drain was gone, after disconnecting the alarm, or they'd have seen the drain still existed. I even disconnected the wiring harness for my trailer. Still had a battery drain to where I had to drive it every day if I wanted it to start the next day. I took it to my regular mechanic, in late October, who completed the disconnecting of the alarm. When I called to advise them of their negligence in solving my problem, the response was insisting they'd just diagnosed and not solved the problem. My question was why diagnose, and not solve such an easy problem/fix? Especially after they'd told me they had disconnected the aftermarket alarm. My review is these guys did a lazy job of halfway solving my issue and were not willing to even admit their negligence. I didn't even want a refund or anything, just ownership of the laziness and wanting to make them aware of the situation. I will not ever go back there and would advise others to avoid this business read more

I worked here rebuilding alternators and starters. Many, many times ib\ve been told just clean and repaint customers parts and give it back to them with no parts at all. Other times i was told to replace damaged parts with used componets. 90% of rebuilds get no new parts at all for full price. read more

They sell imported cheap substandard batteries and do not stand behind their products. Quick to say the battery I had was bad but needed to test and recharge and test the one they sold me before they'd exchange it. Hmm, what a rip. Don't put your trust in these folks. read more

My car started up with the engine light and AT light on. A quick google indicated likely transmission computer malfunction. Called ABE to verify TCM malfunction and replace if necessary. ABE called me back, tow it to their Clackamas shop, better test equipment was there than the closer Hawthorne shop. Called again a week later, 'what's up?' "We didn't have your number to call you" Umm, what? "We can't fix, it's a mechanical problem" $100 test fee for the diagnosis "REFER TO MECHANICAL SHOP". Towed to Herzog Mazda, received immediate call back, "Codes read, Transmission Computer bad". Replaced computer, and back on the road. Sounds like an electrical problem to me. Partial or full refund of ABEs $100 'test fee' requested for incompetent diagnosis. "No, we spent a lot of time on this" Yea, right, sure. Nice. There's a stereo shop in Portland I won't deal with because of this same fee charge up front, whether they do anything or not. It's a racket. read more

I took my car here for repairs and only made it a couple of miles from their shop before my car quit and required a tow. It was running fine when I took it there but it needed longer battery cables. A mechanic from another shop said the cables were installed incorrectly which caused the car to fail. ABE's response when I contacted them: "I'm busy and don't have time for you." Do yourself a favor and avoid this place - I wish I had! read more
