Had a great first visit to this location after Auto Zone didn't have the part for my car battery I was searching for. So glad I googled and found Batteries Plus Bulbs! I needed a battery hold down strap to replace the corroded factory stock one I had that was also missing a screw. Entered Batteries Plus Bulbs first thing in the morning and was greeted with friendly service and interaction. Chris even went above and beyond to stand in the rain and help me install my new strap. They do so much here from watches to car fobs! I got a new battery for my fob while I was at it and it has lifetime warranty. Wish I knew about this place before I had purchased my car battery elsewhere, but I will definitely be back on the future. They do have lots of different batteries for sure. But I went in for a battery for my car key fob, purchased it and asked the guy if they had a screwdriver so I could change it there. He said no but offered me some pay subscription option where they will change it and change it whenever it needs..... all I needed was a small screwdriver, turn screw 1/4 take out battery and replace myself. How bizarre they won't accommodate that. I understand they have a plan they want to sell. So offer it and if the customer declines give them the screwdriver! I went home and did it myself. read more

My Android phone had a problem - the "C" end of my USB cable wouldn't stay in the port. This was annoying because I had to hold it in to charge the phone. It made it impossible to use GPS in my car - it has to hook up via USB cable. I took it in to Chris at Batteries Plus at 4812 SE 82nd Ave in Portland. He had the port cleaned out of pocket lint and now the cable seats fully and I'm a happy camper once again! This place continues to expand their offerings - the 'Plus Bulbs' part now includes LED replacements for every different type of oddball halogen bulb that I've ever owned. They were also able to get me a new exterior case for a car key fob, saving me an enormous amount compared to what I had been quoted at a dealer. Let's not forget the first word in their name, either. I used to be able to visit the watch counter at a department store downtown to keep my timepieces running, but all those words now represent something from a different century. I have been stopping by since to get my batter checked, and replaced when needed (at no charge). Everyone is always really friendly. COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO WASTE $110 ON USELESS IPHONE SCREENS. I had my iPhone 7's screen replaced here and it worked correctly for about 3 months. Then the bottom of my screen started to overlay the top portion of my screen on the bottom. Basically rendering the bottom of my phone useless as it was very blurry (unless you turned down the brightness to 0). I went in for my warranty claim and they "fixed" it but told me that if this happened again they couldn't help me. Another 3.5 months later THE SAME THING HAPPENED. They told me the warranty of 6 months, of initial purchase, was over so they couldn't do anything. They told me it was an issue with my phone. Mind you, they checked my phone EACH TIME I WENT THERE. Before initial repair and 3 months after. They then had the audacity to tell me there was no refunds and they could change the screen for $110. Waster of time and horrible products. If the issue was with my iPhone then they should have told me from the beginning that their product wouldn't work. OR AT LEAST THE SECOND DAMN TIME THEY CHECKED IT. The 6 month warranty is a joke since the original "repair" last only half the time of the warranty. Called the 800 number and have been waiting on a response for 2 weeks now. read more

Manager Jim Bernard, approached me I told him I did not need help, and that I don't like to be talked to, thank you. He proceeded to hover over me staring at me in a very uncomfortable way. Do not go to this garbage heap. I took my iPhone in to have the screen repaired and I got a call less than an hour later saying that they broke my face recognition wire and that it was in replaceable. That they would get me a used iPhone to keep but I still had to pay for the screen replacement. Wtf? I never got the new phone because they are completely untrustworthy. I had a great powerful battery it used to take 5 hours fir the battery to be down to charging time. Now it's less than an hour, the battery gets so hot the phone freezes up frequently to where it has to run out of battery on its on to get it to restart and be "usable" again. My phone constantly jumps around and does it's own thing frustrating the absolute f@ out of me. I believe they not only purposefully messed my face recognition up but replaced my good battery for a garbage one. They could even be hacking the phone. I had to hook it up to their computer at the beginning according to them. I'm going to take the phone to apple and see what they did. If it's f with then this business is going to have issues a number of ways. I'm writing this review to absolutely WARN you to not go there. Because you will probably get faulty product, work ( if you want to call it that) done to your device. I was surprised to find there were only a couple of available parking spots on a weekday afternoon. When I walked in there were about 5 customers in the store, three of which were scattered but appeared to be waiting in line. The three employees I saw behind the counter were engrossed in work, yet progress was slow. I didn't know batteries were such a time consuming product to sell. I approached the counter and asked an employee if they recycled batteries. The response was yes, but with a fee of $1/lb and $1 per light bulb. I was determined to recycle the batteries I've accumulated over the last 10 years, along with an old cfl bulb, so I waited patiently for someone to help me. After about 10 minutes, the gentleman I had spoken to walked up, grabbed the box of batteries and light, and said he'd recycle them for free. Uncommon customer service deserves recognition. I have no idea why they're so backed up, or why each customer appears to take so much time and research to deal with, but they look like they could use another 3 employees. Even still they went above and beyond and I appreciate it. Next time I'll go in the early morning to avoid the rush. read more

I needed a screen repaired on my phone. I called ahead and the person who answered was helpful, but when I arrived that person was gone. The employee there was hardly helpful. As I tried to explain the problem he just challenged and corrected me (terms I used, information I had, etc.) I took the phone and left. I ended up going to Comprite on 122nd and Sunnyside. I'm a fan because sometimes you have to dance with the Devil to find what you need. Batteries Plus is known for being spendy, but they often have what is needed. In my case, that was true. I needed an external smartphone battery charger because the micro usp on my Samsung G3 went bad after a year and a half us use. Online I had discovered that this was a flaw in the phone, and that for under $7 plus shipping, I could order an external battery charger just for the battery I had in my phone. The staff was helpful with a dry sense of humor, which was a bit to take at first. But they did have a universal battery charger that would work, at $25. I asked how much an additional battery would cost and was told that it was $39.99 but bought with the charger it was $10 off. Way to push sales, right?! I opted out of the add-on because I knew I would be able to buy online for a lot less and because I was half a year from getting an upgrade phone. The universal charger will work on all sorts of flat batteries. Despite reading the instructions over, it is a little awkward to use, but it has been working to charge me smartphone's battery. Would I be back? Yes, if I need a specialty item in a hurry, sure. read more

I am usually loathe to post reviews like this one, but here goes. I went to the SE 82nd Batteries+Bulbs to get my S8 cracked screen replaced. I confirmed the price(249.99 after a$10 off coupon from their website). I called to confirm availability & turn-around time. I went to their store. One guy was on the phone chatting with a customer. From out of the back came a tall, gray-haired gentleman who asked what I want. Not in a very friendly way, mind you, more in an almost...annoyed...way? I told him I called about the S8 screen replacement and handed him my phone. From here on out, things went downhill. As is not uncommon, I had a funny, weird story of how the screen got cracked. But this guy was having none of it. He ignored me. He interrupted me. He tersely asked me questions about the phone while he fiddled with it. He looked annoyed when he did deign to make eye contact, and interrupted me when I was talking. He was, imho, disrespectful and rude. You know what I'm saying...that rudeness you occasionally run into that makes you question "Why is this person ignoring me and treating me so rudely? Why am I doing business with this person?" The kicker for me is this.... I go back in the next day to pick up my S8. The Gray-haired gentleman, again, greets me tersely. He retrieves my phone and rings me up. Not very friendly...still. THEN...my Credit Card Authorization clears and SUDDENLY...I am a person. "Here ya go...Thank you...Have a nice day!" Unbelievable. The repair appears to be well done. The Customer Service was non-existent. Look, I get that we ALL have bad days. This guy apparently had two in a row. I hope his days get better. Mine that day eventually did. Ah...well...he ruined a few hours of my day but still. He simply could not act friendly for a few minutes? I am not looking for anyone to get fired. Just maybe treat people spending 100's of dollars like people? Maybe try and pretend to be friendly? No more. I'm done. I suspect I will never use a Batteries+Bulbs location again...EVER. read more

Worst customer service experience I've ever had in my life, by far. Do not trust this place with your devices or to provide decent service of any kind. This place is rude and untrustworthy. The store manager should not be managing employees or a store, nor should he be in a customer service position of any kind. Store employees generally are lackadaisical, unapologetic, and unhelpful. I was misquoted price and timeline, showed up to pick up my phone after the quoted timeline, and when I showed up to pick up my phone, they hadn't even begun the repair, so it was rushed and done badly. The first screen replacement malfunctioned far more than it did prior to the fix (it was only broken but functioning perfectly fine before being replaced). The new screen itself was extremely poor quality. Upon second replacement, the phone works again but the screen quality and sensitivity are still poor and inconsistent. read more

Love a place that stands by the "Promise" Was in Portland about a year ago and had a battery issue with my old Samsung Note 4, Called Batteries Plus to find out if they had a replacement battery- they did- fair price so I had the my battery replaced. one thing the salesman told me at the end was "our batteries have a lifetime warranty" it's been a little bit over 1 year my battery was not holding a charge so I stopped by the store to ask if the battery could be checked - the person working said ( VERY PLEASANTLY) we can tell if its our battery - opened the back case, without a hesitation - he says let's just replace it. Did not ask for any explination - just says this is what we do.... I was in and out of the store in less than 10 minutes with a new battery and no questions asked. Ive used batteries plus in the past for this replacement battery and to fix my cracked phone screen. This business is five stars, they have earned my trust. Reading other reviews, "in life" not everthing is perfect....so bumps along the way can happen....as long as you do your best and your word is good..youll always keep my business.
