Update 8/21/2026 Calling my wife twice to try to influence me to remove my reviews is tantamount to harassment. Are you calling all of the other folks who left a negative review to change their mind??? I took my 2012 Toyota FJ cruiser to this shop for a complete brake replacement. They recommended and installed aftermarket disc brakes and pads. Within 500 miles the brakes developed an annoying squeak that wouldn't go away. I took the car to A1 Affordable Tire and Brakes, Cookes Brake Service, and Point "S" Tire and Brakes, and they all said that the rotors and pads were installed incorrectly, the pads were low quality, and the calipers were missing retaining clips for the pads. USA Performance recommended an aftermarket brake system in my 2012 Toyota FJ cruiser instead of the original OEM parts. The braking was very good, however, it developed an annoying squeak that couldn't be resolved without replacing the entire system with original OEM parts from Toyota. Cooke's Brake Service corrected the issue in one visit. Apparently, the system installed by USA Performance was missing integral parts (half of the caliper retaining clips) and the rotors were installed incorrectly. The rotors were installed on the wrong wheels, left rotor on right wheel and right rotor on left wheel. Half of the retaining clips were missing on the calipers. The brake pads were inferior/low-quality crap and missing half of the retaining clips that keep them on the calipers. The amateurs at USA Performance installed mismatched quality parts. That's right. High quality combined with low quality. Why would a shop knowingly pair and install low-quality parts with superior quality parts? I'll never return to this shop. Why would they not install all of the retaining clips on the new calipers? I took the car to A1 Affordable Tire and Brake, Cookes Brake Service, and Point "S" Tire and Brakes, and they all said that the rotors and pads installed were of incompatible quality meaning high-quality rotors were matched with low-quality pads. In addition to everything else, the calipers were missing half of their retaining clips, and the rotors were mounted on the wrong wheels. Secondly, they completely missed a failed fuel line on an inspection for a 1968 Mustang. The line in question is near the carburetor, easy to locate and see. The issue was in the rubber connections to the metal tubing where the fuel filter is connected. The line was hemorrhaging gas onto the intake manifold. Unfortunately, this prohibited my wife from being able to use her pride and joy pony car as well as piling more pressure on me to resolve the problem myself, which I did at a cost of $10 and ten minutes. I paid good money to have an item like this identified and addressed before I gave the car to my wife. Back to the brakes on the 2012 FJ Cruiser. Thanks to Cooke's Brake Service, I no longer have poor quality parts in my braking system, and the squeak is gone. According to Henry Ford, quality means "doing it right when no one is looking." Apparently, the owner and technicians at USA Performance forgot this axiom, and they can forget about me returning to them. read more

This is an excellent shop! Honest, reasonably priced, and great customer service! I took my son's car here for two reasons: brakes and engine light (it didn't pass DEQ). For less than $400, they fixed both & the car passed DEQ! I was so happy leaving the shop, I wished I had another car to take in to them! I would recommend them to anyone! read more

As long as I live in Portland, I am never taking my cars anywhere else. These guys are great. From the owner, GM, and all the mechanics. Drew and Tony know their autos. I have been bringing my families vehicles to them for over a year. They are upfront with cost and what they could find once they start the project. I am told what they recommend on future maintenance up front and in my budget. Example was my daughters car. They did what I asked them to do for a fair price. When we picked it up I was told that that they had done also changed a couple minor parts while they were doing the project to save on labor cost and future problems. That is why i continue top go back and send friends to them. I have never wrote a review before today. However this is how highly i think of Drew and all the guys at the shop. Honest Mechanic, quick and affordable! Our Toyota broke down while visiting Portland. We checked Yelp for mechanics and got a few quotes for price and estimated time to complete the job. (We were checking out of the hotel that morning). Drew was friendly and helped us get back on the road in record time and 1/3 the cost quoted by others. He could have taken advantage of our desperation and instead he treated us like family. I wish we lived in Portland so we could have a trustworthy mechanic like this! OVER CHARGED! OVER CHARGED! OVER CHARGED! Not to mention by the day the price was different everytime he called. I recently brought my 99 Wrangler in and was told that it needed and new master and slave cylinder and then the next day, told I needed a whole new hydraulic clutch. Total charge was $1059.00! upon picking my jeep up, I was not provided any receipts of the new parts that were installed and was only given an invoice for the work done. Brett and Bill are very very shady people and I would seriously suggest to anyone to not have ANY work done at this supposedly reputable shop!
